San Francisco, July 28 (Ians) Sony has announced that it has sold more than 40 million PlayStation 5 (PS5) consoles to gamers since launch.
“We launched PlayStation 5 in November 2020 and the world was in a strange and different place than when we announced the console in 2019,” Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said in a blogpost on Thursday.
“Despite the unprecedented challenges of Covid, our teams and our partners worked diligently to deliver PS5 on time.”
The pandemic continued to be a challenge for the company, and it took months for supply chains to return to normal so that there would be enough inventory to meet demand.
Ryan further mentioned that “For more months than I care to remember, we kept thanking our community for their patience while working through these issues.”
However, now, PS5 supply is well-stocked and the company is seeing that pent-up demand finally being met.

As the world rings in 2023 with new resolutions and goals, TV soaps will also be switching things up with exciting new storylines and scandals.
After a busy Christmas period, which saw the exit of Danny Dyer and the shock revelation of a 12-year-old being pregnant on EastEnders, as well as the return of more long-lost relatives to Coronation Street and Emmerdale, you can expect 2023 to be an explosive year on screen.
Here’s our (spoiler-packed) guide to this year’s soaps...
EastEnders
It’s going to be another exciting year in Walford, with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) struggling to rebuild her life alone after husband Mick (Dyer) went missing.
Pregnant Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) will see her relationship with Zack Hudson (James Farrar), the father of her child who she had a fling with, put to the test by a number of factors, including new and old faces.

At the beginning of 2022, who would have thought that a sequel to an 11-year-old film, the sixth entry in a 21-year-old franchise, would end up being one of the best animated movies of the year? But that's only part of what's surprising about "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish."
Antonio Banderas returns as the titular Puss, who discovers he's down to the last of his nine lives, having lost his other ones by acting recklessly. Depressed and scared for the first time, he embarks on one last desperate quest — to find a legendary Wishing Star, which could grant him more lives and allow him to return to his devil-may-care persona. The film looks stunning, with stylized visuals that mix 3D and 2D, anime-like fight scenes, and a darker story inspired by spaghetti westerns that's reminiscent of something like "Logan."

Made a decade after 2011’s Oscar-nominated Puss in Boots, the sequel that debuts Dec. 21 takes a darker turn as the eponymous feline, voiced by Antonio Banderas, is forced to confront his mortality. “He’s burned through eight of his nine lives, and he’s on his last,” director Joel Crawford says, explaining that while a cat’s nine lives make for a fun premise, the filmmakers used it to talk about a more serious subject. “You have one life, how are you going to live it? That’s such a powerful theme that’s relevant for everybody.”
He adds that Dreamworks Animation’s Puss in Boots: The Last Wish aims to deliver “what everyone was expecting: the swashbuckling fun of a Puss in Boots, but also expand the world, even in the look.” The story begins with a song and playful action sequence.

Nominations for the 41st Annual Annie Awards were announced and "Frozen" and "Monsters University" led the pack with 10 nominations each. "Despicable Me 2" and "The Croods" followed closely with 9 noms each.
I am rooting for "Frozen" to win! It's a return to form to what Disney does best -- affecting fairy tale with memorable musical numbers. "Monsters University," on the other hand, was bland. The film bored me on second viewing.
Steven Spielberg will receive the Winsor McCay Award for career achievement at the awards ceremony happening on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus. Patrick Warburton will serve as host.
