Oh, this is going to be a fun AFC matchup to watch. Two of the league’s best quarterbacks will take the field, and a win here would help either team in their respective division standings as we hit the halfway point of the NFL season. The Houston Texans have been a revelation and are not out of it in the AFC South, while the Cincinnati Bengals have won four straight games after a slow start. This one should be fun with two offenses that can get down the field in quick order.

Joe Burrow, like his counterpart this week, is coming off his best passing game of the season. Three of his most productive outings this season have come in the past four weeks - all victories. Now healthy after dealing with an injury earlier this season, the former {Lsu Tigers} standout has his eyes on a return trip the Super Bowl.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will face off in Super Bowl Lvii, which will take place Feb. 12.
The game will air live on Fox from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
The Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals to win the AFC title Sunday, while the Eagles beat the San Francisco 49ers to win the NFC championship.
In the AFC game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes scrambled for a first down on his badly sprained right ankle, then was shoved late out of bounds by Joseph Ossai, giving Harrison Butker a chance to kick a 45-yard field goal with 3 seconds left that gave the Chiefs a 23-20 victory over the Bengals.
The Chiefs finally managed to beat the Bengals after three straight losses, including a three-point overtime defeat in last year’s conference championship game. Kansas City advanced to play the Eagles in their third Super Bowl in four years.

Super Bowl Lvii is coming into focus today as the Cincinnati Bengals face the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 AFC Championship.

USC quarterback Caleb Williams is officially college football’s best player, winning the 2022 Heisman Trophy on Saturday night.
His triumph makes USC the first school to win the player of the year award eight times. He is the first Trojan since 2005’s win by Reggie Bush, whose award was later vacated when an investigation found that he accepted what, at the time, were considered to be improper benefits.
Williams received 544 first-place votes and 2,031 points to beat runner-up Max Duggan, the Tcu quarterback, who had 1,420 points.
The star quarterback transferred from Oklahoma to USC, reuniting with coach Lincoln Riley. Williams is the fourth transfer to win the Heisman in the past six years — joining Baker Mayfield (2017) and Kyler Murray (2018) of Oklahoma, and Joe Burrow (2019) of Lsu.
Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud was third in the voting after coming in fourth last season. Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett finished fourth.

The Los Angeles Rams have solidified their position as Hollywood’s hometown football team after winning Super Bowl Lvi in a close 23-20 game Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
NBC telecast this year’s Super Bowl contest. The Rams’ win was made all the more memorable in an industry that banks on hits by coming at the team’s home stadium through a quirk of NFL scheduling. The win is the first NFL championship trophy to come to Los Angeles since the Rams franchise returned to the city in 2016 and the first for the city since the Los Angeles Raiders beat Washington in 1984.
The Super Bowl win also promises to vault Rams head coach Sean McVay into star category. After a close first half, the Bengals had the lead through most of the second half. But the Rams came on strong in the fourth quarter, keeping the game competitive until...

The Los Angeles Rams are the champions of the National Football League, overcoming a key injury and a second-half deficit to hold on for a 23-20 Super Bowl victory.
Matthew Stafford hit Cooper Kupp with a short touchdown pass with 1:25 left in a Super Bowl drive worthy of Hollywood, as the two teammates played pitch and catch all the way down the field.
Then a furious Rams defense sealed the deal by keeping the Bengals off-balance until seconds remained, as Aaron Donald capped things with huge pressure on Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow.
The Rams, unable to run the ball the whole game against a stout Bengals defense, relied on the passing game in the second half, as receiver Cooper Kupp came up big again and again, including a key first-down run. Kupp’s effort was needed, as receiver Odell Beckham Jr. sat out the second half after injuring his knee.

The Rams have won Super Bowl Lvi, defeating the Bengals 23-20 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It was a home-stadium victory for the Los Angeles Rams, one year after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off the same feat at their Raymond James Stadium.
It was the Rams who struck first on Sunday, with Odell Beckham Jr. hauling in a touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford. But later in the first half, Beckham would leave the game with a knee injury. He would not return to the field.
At halftime, after missing an extra-point attempt, the Rams led 13-10. But the Bengals struck swiftly in the third quarter. Joe Burrow and co. held that lead through the game’s two-minute warning. However, the Rams would claw back to take the lead, 23-20, with less than 2 minutes left in the game. That’s where Super Bowl Lvi would end.

For as long as there have been Super Bowl parties, there have been spouses disinterested in sports that somehow get dragged along. “Hey,” the rationalization goes, “at least you’ll get to see all the new Super Bowl commercials.”
As the Los Angeles Rams face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, February 13, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, those of us without six grand or so to buy a ticket on StubHub will be watching on CBS, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Et. It won’t just be great athletes like Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford keeping us engaged, but the finest minds in advertising serving up witty instant catchphrases or maybe bringing a tear to our eye with something poignant before the final “brought to you by Bank of America” tag. Two more NFL playoff games went down to the wire and Fox and CBS were the beneficiaries (along with Bengals and Rams fans).
CBS averaged 47.8 million viewers for its broadcast of the AFC Championship Game on Sunday afternoon, which saw the Cincinnati Bengals and second-year quarterback Joe Burrow upset Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs to punch the team’s first Super Bowl ticket since the late 1980s.
The game was up 13% in viewers from last year’s AFC Championship Game, which aired in the late window.
For the second straight week, the Chiefs went into overtime but this time Mahomes threw a costly interception and the Bengals kicked the game-winning field goal. The AFC Championship Game was the most-watched NFL championship game in that early afternoon window in six years.

It’s official. Super Bowl Lvi in Los Angeles will have a true “home” team, as the Los Angeles Rams topped the stubborn San Francisco 49ers today 20-17, thanks to a field goal with under two minutes to play.
The Rams will be joined by the upstart Cincinnati Bengals, who surprised the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship with a 27-24 overtime victory.
Super Bowl Lvi will be held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Sunday, Feb. 13. Kickoff at the Rams home field is at 3;30 pm, with NBC televising. The game will mark the first time a team has hosted the championship game and the Super Bowl in their own stadium.
The Rams were down 17-7 at one point in the third quarter, but came back strong, thanks to key receptions by Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr. A 30-yard field goal by Matt Gay provided the winning margin.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams are set to battle in Super Bowl Lvi next month after the Rams pulled off a tough 20-17 win Sunday over the San Francisco 49ers to clinch the NFC Championship.
The NFL’s big game, to air Feb. 13 on NBC, was previously scheduled to be played in the Rams’ home turf of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Sunday’s victory send the Rams’ on the team’s second trip to the Super Bowl since January 2019, when they lost 13-3 to New England Patriots.
Earlier Sunday, the Bengals scored a near-miracle upset win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL’s AFC Championship game, sending the team to the Super Bowl for the first time since the late 1980s.
The Bengals-Rams matchup offers a big showcase for two rising but long underdog NFL teams. The geographic distance between the Bengals and Rams is also a plus.

Tom Cruise is ready for some football. And for some jet fighter action.
CBS Sports and the NFL married Cruise and footage from the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick into the AFC Championship tease that aired leading into the game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs. The clip was headlined, “The Time is Now.”
Cruise likened the game to the determination to be the best that it takes to be a top gun. The long-awaited sequel to the 1986 Top Gun (which came out before both game quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes were born) is set for release on May 27 from Paramount.

Colin Kaepernick is back. Not quite in the NFL, but the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback turned activist has returned to Madden for the first time in four years.
Referring to Kaepernick as “one of the top free agents in football and a starting-caliber quarterback,” EA Sports announced his arrival in Madden NFL 21, the officially licensed NFL game, on social media. The quarterback’s 2016 decision to kneel during pregame performances of the national anthem, in protest of racial injustice in the United States, effectively blackballed him from the league.
According to The Undefeated, EA Sports attributes his absence from past editions of Madden to a loss of his likeness rights in the NFL Players Association’s licensing agreement with the game’s publisher, due to the fact that he had become a free agent. The Undefeated reported that EA Sports reached out to Kaepernick during the summer about negotiating likeness rights with him separately.

The 2020 NFL Draft was unlike any other.
Over seven rounds, league commissioner Roger Goodell, the 32 NFL head coaches and almost 100 NFL prospects were broadcast virtually from home using over 600 camera feeds. Not only was this year’s affair unique in terms of its presentation, but it also smashed previous ratings records for the draft, benefiting, no doubt, from the lack of any live sports on television for the past few weeks.
Coverage of the draft’s three days across ABC, ESPN, NFL Network, ESPN Deportes, and digital channels scored an average 8.4 million viewers, comfortably beating the previous high, put up by last year’s draft, of 6.2 million by 35%. For further comparison, that represents a 53% increase over the 2018 draft, which also used to be the most-watched draft on average.

Updated with latest numbers: ABC’s coverage of the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday set a record for the event, with more than 15.6 million viewers tuning in to opening night across ABC, ESPN, NFL Network, ESPN Deportes and their digital channels. Helped by sports fans starved for action amid the coronavirus shutdown, the total broke the previous record for the first night of the draft, which had been 12.4 million viewers in 2014.
Last night’s numbers were up 37% over last year’s 11.4 million total viewers, with coverage of t eh virtual event peaking between 8:45-9 Pm Et with 19.6 million viewers who watched Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow go to the Cincinnati Bengals with the No. 1 pick.
The draft drew a preliminary 1.6 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 6.14 million viewers on ABC, which carried one of two live simulcasts originating from ESPN’s Bristol studios, and conducted mostly from the basement of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s Westchester County, NY home. The draft continues tonight and Saturday on NFL Network and the ESPN networks.
ABC’s three-hour broadcast was easily the top-rated and most-watched program in primetime Thursday, on a night when NBC wrapped four of its shows, including the second series finale of Will & Grace.
The finale of the series marked the NBC comedy’s most-watched show in more than a year. The show wrapped its second run — spanning 11 seasons and 246 episodes in all, first from 1998-2006 and resuming in 2017 — off a tenth in the demo from last week but on par with its season averages.
Will & Grace was preceded by the Season 6 ender for Superstore, back from its break to grow a tenth in the demo and more than 1 million viewers from last year’s finale; and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, even in the demo from last week but up a tenth from its previous finale.
After a Will & Graceful Goodbye special that kept most of the crowd from the finale, NBC wrapped up the record 21st season of its Law & Order: Svu, which was even with last week and last year’s season capper.
ABC won the night overall in both metrics; NBC and CBS tied for No. 2 in the demo, while CBS was second in viewers.
Elsewhere in primetime last night, CBS aired fresh episodes of Man With a Plan and Broke, off a tenth from last week, and Tommy, which was even. Fox offered a new Last Man Standing which was also even.
The CW aired new episodes of Katy Keene and In the Dark, which remained steady.
