The biggest surprise this year -- at least, in the world of food television -- has to be the revelation that Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg have teamed for the VH1 series Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party (premiering Nov. 7 at 10 p.m. Et). The new half-hour weekly series features the two personalities hosting outrageous dinner parties with some even more outrageous collection of guests, including Kathy Griffin, Wiz Khalifa, Seth Rogen, Ashlee Simpson, Evan Ross and Robin Thicke.
“Both Snoop and I really wanted to do a teaching show -- and a fun show like a dinner party show, which it's turned out to be,” Martha tells The Insider about the conception of the series.
While the show may be an interesting surprise, the unlikely pair has quite the past, from appearing on ABC’s $100,000 Pyramid to roasting Justin Bieber on Comedy Central. So, before the duo’s half-baked series premieres, we’re taking...

Sofia Coppola looked at the stuff and thought it wasn't so neat: The director dropped out of the live-action version of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid over creative differences, reports Deadline. According to Variety, Coppola was keen on Maya Thurman Hawke, the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, for the part of Ariel, but studio executives were nervous. Producers Universal, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner are reportedly forging ahead with a rewrite of the script by Caroline Thompson. Those druggy mermaids listening to Bow Wow Wow will just be part of another world.

Britain's Got Talent came to an end tonight (May 31) as one lucky winner claimed a spot at this year's Royal Variety Performance.
Jules O'Dwyer and Matisse topped the viewer vote and were duly named Britain's Got Talent 2015 champions.
We round up the reaction on social media to tonight's Britain's Got Talent live final below.
Firstly, there was a lot of moaning about the number of adverts during the show:

Making a good mix tape takes some skill. Making a great mix tape is a work of art. In order to make a great mix you need to listen to a wide range of artists. You also need to consider the audience. In other words, who are you making the mix for? It’s always smart to select music that you are guaranteed meets the tastes of the listener, but it also good to experiment and include some tracks that they may have never heard otherwise. Creating a message with the mix is also a plus, and I personally love to add tons of movie clips as an added bonus. There has to be a specific flow as well. Pacing is essential in creating a mood (or moods), but you don’t want any of the juxtapositions to be too jarring. And as with any form of editing, you need...

More and more British pet owners treat their dog like a person, despite the harm it can cause, according to a survey conducted by Twentieth Century Fox to mark the DVD release of Family Guy Season 11.
In a poll of 2,000 UK dog owners, 62 per cent admitted they treat their dogs more like humans, with one in four taking it as far as dressing them in clothes and 64 per cent regularly feeding them human food and drink.
A quarter of Brits cook specially prepared food for their dogs, with over 50 per cent accepting that they over-indulge or pamper their four-legged friends. And despite the economic climate, 10 per cent spend over £250 a month to keep their dogs happy.
More than one third let their dogs sleep in their bed, with many stating loneliness as a factor, while 13 per cent allow them to sit at the dinner table to eat and one in...

Every era has its misfits, people who feel out of step with their contemporaries and the world. As a plea for tolerance and understanding of oddballs, Dirty Girl, the debut feature from writer-director Abe Sylvia, hits every note so squarely on the beat that in the end, it's nothing but square. It doesn't matter that Sylvia has stocked the soundtrack with killer '80s pop from the likes of Bow Wow Wow, Teena Marie and Joan Jett. The movie's true poster girl is the drippy Melissa Manchester, urging us to sing from our souls, because she thinks we can make it.

The most common Lgbt duo in entertainment is the gay guy-straight girl relationship – Will and Grace, Carrie Bradshaw and Stanford Blatch, Kurt and Rachel, Liza Minnelli and most of her husbands – the list goes on and on.

Music is inextricably linked to Sofia Coppola's career. Her first film, the short Bed, Bath and Beyond was written by Ione Skye, the actress who was once married to Beastie Boys' Adam Horovitz and is now married to rocker Ben Lee. Her second short, Like the Star, kicked off with The Amps' Tipp City. Once she jumped into feature work, her films were littered with memorable soundtracks intermingling the old, the popular, the rare, and the new.
The Virgin Suicides mixed Sloan and Todd Rundgren with Heart and Styx. Lost In Translation opted for a mix of hard-hitting crassness like Peaches' "F**k the Pain Away" with the gentle whisper of Air's "Alone in Kyoto." Even when Marie Antoinette detailed a whole different world, the sountrack boasted Aphex Twin, Bow Wow Wow, and The Cure.
Now she's back with Somewhere, and the soundtrack is sure to please once again.

KT Tunstall's new single "Fade Like a Shadow" got a music video treatment and it has been premiered for fans' viewing pleasure. The single is taken from her upcoming studio installment "Tiger Suit" which is set for September 28 U.S. release.
The song talks about a person who haunted Tunstall for many months. She told Music Remedy, "The person is still very much alive, but my interactions with them led to these weird, almost visitation-like feelings that I found difficult to shake off."
As for the album, she recalled the process, stating "I recorded out in Berlin at legendary studio Hansa with Jim Abbiss producing. I decided to tap into a diverse array of influences and we drew from some of our collectively favorite sounds; Leftfield, Eddie Cochran, The Cocteau Twins, Bow Wow Wow, Adam and the Ants, Ali Farke Toure...as you can imagine, it's a pretty different listen!

I may have just been a clueless young girl when I was first exposed to Malcolm McLaren, and to this day, I'm still not entirely sure what Madame Butterfly was about, but I quickly learned about the legend of the punk Svengali. So whether you loved him or hated him, you can't deny that the world is short one pop-culture legend because of his passing. Most people might know McLaren from his early days in fashion with his partner, Vivienne Westwood, but he will forever be known as the manager (and some argue, creator) of The Sex Pistols. Above all, McLaren was a self-promoter of ruthless intensity, and long after the Pistols had imploded, McLaren had moved on to the next big thing and found new proteges; '80s one hit wonders, Bow Wow Wow and Adam Ant, and he remained a fixture on the art scene up until his death.
