“It’s so complicated, but I think it’s so universal to all of us who’ve grown up,” says Lindsay Mendez on the central friendships in “Merrily We Roll Along.” The current Broadway revival at the Hudson Theatre has taken one of Stephen Sondheim’s most infamous flops and turned it into one of the biggest success stories of the season. As far as Mendez is concerned, that success is tied to the ways in which the show provokes audiences to examine the shifting relationships in their own lives. “Friendships come and go and they’re there for a reason,” she explains, “and people change and it’s okay that they change.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.

The International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C. explores the legacy of global espionage, making its history legible and compelling to a contemporary audience. So, it’s fitting that its latest exhibit displays a dozen-and-a-half vehicles associated with the person who may be, oxymorons aside, the world’s best-known fictitious super-spy.
This show, “Bond In Motion,” opens March 1 and features iconic cars from 007’s six decades. These include the self-cloaking Aston Martin Vanquish from Die Another Day, the remote-controlled BMW 750iL from Tomorrow Never Dies, the surface-to-air missile-firing BMW Z8 from The World is Not Enough, and, perhaps the world’s most famous car, the machine gun–concealing, oil slick–emitting, license plate–rotating, seat-ejecting Aston Martin DB5 used in Goldfinger.
But it also includes lesser-known Bond vehicles, like a snowmobile from Die Another Day, a three-wheeled, motorcycle-based Tuk-Tuk from Octopussy, a hang-glider from Moonraker, and a submarine from Diamonds are Forever,...

Exclusive: Tony Yazbeck is set for a key recurring role opposite Josh Andrés Rivera, Lindsay Mendez and Patrick Schwarzenegger in Ryan Murphy’s FX anthology American Sports Story, Deadline has learned.
American Sports Story, a new extension of Murphy’s “American Story” franchise, is a scripted anthological limited series focusing on a prominent event involving a sports figure and re-examines it through the prism of today’s world, telling that story from multiple perspective.
The first installment, written by Stu Zicherman, is based on the podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc from the Boston Globe and Wondery. It charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez, played by Rivera, and explores the connections of the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide, and their legacy in sports and American culture. Schwarzenegger portrays Hernandez’s friend, former college teammate and fellow former NFL star Tim Tebow.

Irony dwells in the bones of "Merrily We Roll Along," a musical that plays backward in time. The 1981 sinking of the original Broadway production of "Merrily We Roll Along" is a chaos best told by the documentary "Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened." The critics and audience were reportedly baffled by the reverse chronological storytelling and director Hal Prince's purposefully amateurish methodology, which casts high schoolers and young adults playing fortysomethings aging down to twentysomethings. It closed down after 44 previews and 16 performances. The loss demoralized the creatives so much that lyricist-composer Stephen Sondheim and Prince — mavericks who birthed successes like "Company" and "Sweeney Todd" — halted their collaboration for years. This short-lived run underscores the musical's themes: friendships breaking up and showbiz realities thwarting artistic plans.
Away from Prince's high-schoolish shell, major productions have repackaged "Merrily." This material also turned out to be a fitting endeavor for filmmaker Richard Linklater,...

What a difference 40 years makes. After opening to pans and a run of only 16 official performances in 1981, Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s musical “Merrily We Roll Along” has been remounted on Broadway for the very first time. Maria Friedman has stepped into the director role once occupied by Sondheim’s frequent collaborator Hal Prince — “Merrily” was their first flop after an impressive string of successful shows in the 70s. The revival opened on Oct. 10 at the Hudson Theatre for a run slated to end in March.
“Merrily” boasts marquee names Jonathan Groff, Lindsay Mendez, and Daniel Radcliffe. The trio play Franklin Shepard, Mary Flynn, and Charley Kringas, respectively, the three creatives at the heart of the musical that’s told in reverse over the course of 20+ years. It begins in a moment of personal and professional disillusionment and estrangement and unspools to a simpler, earlier time when their friendships...

Bags of fentanyl were found at a New York City day care after the death of one child.
The drugs, later discovered by authorities, were stored under a play mat where the kids napped during the day. The operator of the day care, Grei Mendez, 36, is currently in custody along with her tenant and cousin-in-law, Carlisto Acevedo Brito, 41.
On September 15, the sick children were discovered by Mendez when she realized that they were not waking up from their naps. Instead of immediately calling authorities though, Mendez attempted to cover up the drugs and called her husband and Brito’s cousin, who remains unnamed.
In video footage, the husband can be seen entering the building after Mendez called him and then leaving shortly after with bags in hand. The bags are suspected of holding drugs.
Manhattan U.S. Attorney Damien Williams said at a press conference, “All of that happened while the children,...

There’s no easy way of putting this, A Million Little Things faithful: It really looks like Javier “Gary” Mendez Jr. is not long for this world.
The character’s imminent death shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone who’s been watching the show this season: In the premiere, James Roday Rodriguez’s character was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. As his oncologist told him, the advanced stage of the illness meant that there was no chance of remission; the treatment plan involved using medicine to stave off the disease’s advance for as long as possible.
