- In January 2008, Simone contracted recurring MRSA infections. Epica kept having to cancel shows to allow her to recover, but in March 2008 eventually went on tour with Temporary vocalist Amanda Sommerville for their United States tour, so that Simone could fully recover at home. Simone was eventually able to reunite with Epica for their concert in Bibelot, Dordrecht.

- Is Classically trained, but frequently uses contemporary voice to achieve a mixed voice technique. Is able to move between classical singing and contemporary singing seamlessly. Appears to be a common aesthetic for Dutch Metal/Rock singers.

- Unfortunately caused controversy with Columbian fans during Epica's Latin American tour in 2009, after she politely asked fans not to touch her hair whilst she was signing autographs. She is Dutch, and the Dutch are culturally reserved with strangers, saving personal warmth for friends. Purposefully being touched by strangers is considered weird, antisocial, and extremely rude. Floor Jansen would unfortunately, later go on to share this same controversy after declining a hug from a Nightwish fan. Both received online vitriol for being considered rude.

- Her vocal coach is Amanda Somerville, an American Singer-Songwriter who's frequently a backup singer, collaborator, and touring member for European Symphonic Metal bands. She was hired as Epica's temporary emergency Singer while Simone recovered from her MRSA infection(s) in 2008.
