“Gen V” Season finally has a premiere date, and just in time for the new school year, too.
Prime Video’s college-based spinoff of “The Boys” returns Sept. 17 with the premiere of the first three episodes, available in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. New episodes will follow weekly with the second season finale airing Wednesday, October 22.
Season 2 picks up where Season 4 of “The Boys” left off — with Homelander (Antony Starr) firmly established as America’s brutal new fascist dictator and pretty much everyone who opposes him, with the sole exception of Starlight (Erin Moriarty), shoved into gulags at best.

Antony Starr was already known from his roles as Lucas Hood on the Cinemax crime show "Banshee" and Garrett Hawthorne on the CBS mystery drama "American Gothic" before he landed the part of twisted Superman expy Homelander on Amazon Prime Video's "The Boys." Still, for those who had missed his talents before, Starr's memorably twitchy turn as the sociopathic supe has certainly been enough to put him on the map.
Starr's Homelander has effectively transformed into a Donald Trump expy as the show has progressed, and "The Boys" makes absolutely no effort to hide this comparison as the dangerous character observes the world from New York City's Vought Tower while nurturing a cult of personality and harboring increasingly clear political aspirations. On the show, Homelander's power and undeniable charisma have managed to gaslight the public into thinking that he's the ultimate hero, and as Starr has found out to his chagrin,...

‘The Boys’ VFX supervisor Stephan Fleet explains why a one-minute shot ‘took about 17 hours’ to make

“We don't want the simple way,” proclaims The Boys visual effects supervisor Stephan Fleet, who joined Gold Derby's "Meet the Experts" VFX panel. “We don't want the obvious magic trick that everyone's seen before. So even something you read on the page that you think could be the most simple thing, like a split screen of someone, can be a very complicated thing to do.” Watch the full interview above.

Antony Starr would like to remind people that The Boys'Homelander is an unapologetic villain and not a role model in any way.

"We had a bunch of guys that we all kind of knocked them down a little but on social media to say, 'This guy is not the hero of any story,'" he said, adding, "They were really glorifying him, they loved him. Which is surreal." Despite trying to give Homelander shades of nuance underneath his megalomanical goals, The Boys star expressed surprise "that people would be so conflicted around it and, you know, finding themselves finding empathy for this monster."

Production on The Boys Season 5 is in full swing, but fans have been theorizing about how the final season of the series would come to a close long before the camera rolled. One star from the series who has been around since the beginning is Colby Minifie, who portrays Ashley, the Vought employee who's often pushed around by Supes and Vought executives. Homelander (Antony Starr) has been bullying Ashley since the first season, and some fans have speculated that she should be the one to kill Homelander in Season 5, especially after she took Compound V at the end of Season 4. Minifie recently caught up with ScreenRant to talk about her new project, The Surrender, and she teased a "satisfying" finale that had her "emotional" while she was reading it:
"I just read the finale last night. It's an extremely satisfying finale. That's what I will say. It's extremely satisfying. I was getting emotional reading it.

The Boys cast, along with showrunner Eric Kripke, recently talked to Deadline and teased the fifth and final season of Prime Video's subversive superhero show. Naturally, we're in for yet another vulgar, bloody and unpredictable installment, all dialed up to 11 for this last sprint.
By the end of The Boys season 4, Homelander and Sister Sage managed to place loyalist Senator Calhoun as President, essentially placing Homelander himself at the driving seat of the U.S. government. Meanwhile, a suped-up Billy Butcher continues his fight to stop the tyrannical Homelander. At the end of the season, most of the Boys are captured, and Annie is on the run. Oh, and Soldier Boy is revealed to be alive. It's all set up to be one hell of a final season.

The Boys star Colby Minifie reveals her reaction to reading the script for the series finale. Minifie plays Ashley Barrett, a Vought executive who, despite becoming CEO, is a puppet for Homelander (Antony Starr). During The Boys season 4 ending, Ashley is last seen injecting herself with Compound V in a desperate attempt to protect herself from Homelander's wrath. While the Prime Video franchise continues to expand with spinoffs, including Gen V and Vought Rising, season 5 will mark the end of the original show.
During an interview with ScreenRant's Brandon Zachary for her new film The Surrender, Minifie shares that the script for The Boys series finale is "extremely satisfying" and that she "was getting emotional reading it." The Boys is gearing up for its fifth and final season, and the show's creator, Eric Kripke, along with the cast, have teased what's in store in Season 5, and we're not ready for it. Debuting in 2019, The Boys remains one of the most popular superhero shows around, managing to ward off the dreaded superhero fatigue. Even with the rocky reception to Season 4, hopes and expectations are still high for Season 5, which will finally give us the dramatic showdown between Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Homelander (Antony Starr). The villain telling the hero 'we’re not so different, you and I' is one of the most overused tropes in movies, especially when it comes to the superhero genre. Look no further than the Joker, Norman Osborne, Magneto, and Thanos — they've all said it.
The cliche stretches to Prime Video's subversive superhero series The Boys. Throughout the show's first four seasons, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Homelander (Antony Starr) have been at each other's throats, and season 5 will undoubtedly bring their war to a violent, gruesome conclusion.
The two characters are intrinsically different in terms of their outlooks. Homelander is an oppressive 'evil Superman' with ties to the government and plans for world domination. On the other hand, hardened British vigilante Billy Butcher has been out to stop him — and all 'Supes' — from the start, along with his ragtag group, the Boys.

The Boys’ Antony Starr, best known as Homelander, aka the most terrifying version of Superman you’ll ever meet, has casually thrown his name into the Resident Evil reboot hat. And not through some overproduced Hollywood press release. Nope. One Instagram comment, three words: “I agree”—and now, the internet’s losing its mind. Bosslogic, the internet’s go-to fantasy casting wizard and Photoshop alchemist, has been pushing the Antony Starr-for-Wesker agenda for a while now. He’s posted fan art that makes you do a double take—Starr in black trench coat, glowing eyes, slicked-back menace. It’s less “what if?” and more “why hasn’t this happened already?” After watching Amazon Prime Video’s G20, Bosslogic fired up Instagram and tagged whoever’s steering the new Resident Evil live-action reboot, saying they need to sign Antony Starr as Albert Wesker. “Do it”, he wrote in a public nudge.

The Boys season 3 delivered a powerful moment, and that was the big reveal that Soldier Boy is Homelander’s dad. However, nothing could come of that in the fourth season, but there is hope for The Boys season 5.
At the end of The Boys season 4, Homelander was reunited with his (frozen) dad. Soldier Boy was put on ice due to how dangerous he was. Not only did he want to destroy all those who betrayed him back in the day, but he was able to wipe out all Supes by removing the Compound-v from their system. This could have been great for those who wanted to lose their powers, but not so great for those who needed them.

Over the years, The Boys supervillain Homelander (Antony Starr) has become one of the most universally despised characters in the genre. Of all the characters that fall into the "Evil Superman" archetype, from Brightburn to Omni-Man, it's Homelander who's the most talked-about.
Looking ahead to the fifth and final season of Prime Video's The Boys, Homelander is more unhinged than ever. With people like Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and a newly-Suped Ashley (Colby Minifie) out to kill him once and for all, fans can expect a bloodbath from start to finish. Looking ahead to the fifth and final season of Prime Video's The Boys, Homelander is more unhinged than ever. “Is He a Man Or a Monster?“: Eric Kripke Digs Into Butcher’s Complex Morality in 'The Boys' Season 5

When we first met Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher in the first episode of Prime Video’s The Boys, he was a man on a mission. And what was his mission, exactly? A vengeance-filled quest that also put him on a collision course with numerous difficult-to-accept truths. Caught in his laser focus (pun intended) was the leader of the superhero group known as The Seven, Antony Starr’s Homelander. The bloodthirsty and morally deplorable supe is objectively the title’s primary villain, but, as we’ve watched Butcher toe the fine line of morality over the last four seasons, will he fully step over to the dark side for the upcoming fifth and final season?
The answer to that question is one that series creator, Eric Kripke, recently teased while chatting with TV Insider. Putting it in the hands of the audience to speculate until the fifth and final season arrives somewhere down the line,...

The Boys has never been afraid of staying in line with the times. In fact, it’s kind of the Prime Video series’ whole thing. Whether intentional or not, the show has mirrored many of the things actually happening in our world, and its upcoming fifth and final season will be no different. But, the last batch of episodes won’t only paint a clearer picture of how the fictional universe’s politics parallel our own, but, according to series creator, Eric Kripke, the primary antagonist and protagonist will also begin to blur together as one.
While chatting with TV Insider, Kripke was quick to point out the close comparisons between the leader of the titular anti-supe vigilante team, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), and his archnemesis, Homelander (Antony Starr). Setting up what’s to come in the fifth season, Kripke teased,
“[Homelander’s] story in the season was one of mortality and legacy.

Audiences of The Boys have seen some downright disturbing things over the show’s four-season run. And, it would be incredibly fair to say that a solid chunk of them have been perpetrated by the title’s primary antagonist, Antony Starr’s Homelander. During the show’s fourth season, which arrived last summer, viewers were given an all-access pass into the traumatic upbringing that turned Homelander into the maniacal psychopath that now runs not only the Seven but the entire country as well. Recently chatting with TV Insider, series creator, Eric Kripke, shed some light on Homelander’s big “heartbreaking” homecoming moment and how it not only better formed his villain origin story, but also managed to make those watching at home feel some empathy towards such a disgusting and dislikable character.

The Boys' fifth and final season culminates the long-running Homelander saga, with fans awaiting the payoff to his many controversies and an expected clash with Billy Butcher. As deplorable and self-serving as Homelander can be, showrunner Eric Kripke believes that despite the Seven leader's dastardly ways, there is something less sinister at the heart of the character that fuels him.
Speaking with TV Insider, Kripke teased what fans can expect from Homelander in Season 5 and offered insight into what makes Antony Starr's character tick. Though Homelander is hard to sympathize with, considering his penchant for chaos, Kripke insists his desire to be loved is at the root of his complexities.
"The thing about Homelander — and I was just talking to Antony about this yesterday — is it’s sort of tragic, actually, but ultimately, the guy just wants someone to love him. He tries amassing all of this power just...

The composers on The Boys are apparently going to have to wait a long time, if at all, for a note or two from creator Eric Kripke on how to do better.
After performing spirited pieces from the Prime Video superhero drama at Deadline’s Sound & Screen: Television event, composers Christopher Lennertz and Matt Bowen were asked if they’ve ever been scolded for going too far with their music.
“I’ve never gotten a note saying I’ve gone too far. If anything, it’s I can go farther,” Lennertz said. “Eric usually says make me give you a note, and I never seem to get that if I tried.”

The Boys may be gearing up for its final chapter at Prime Video, but showrunner Eric Kripke is taking a look back at Season 4’s standout moments. While the series about a titular group of vigilantes who aim to keep misbehaved superheroes in line was originally presented as a battle between well-intentioned rule-benders and an ignorant group of self-serving “Supes,” it has been revealed as an eerily timely reflection of our current politically charged climate. At the core is the never-ending push-pull dynamic between Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and the all-powerful American Flag-clad Supe Homelander (Antony Starr), which continued into Season 4 and will carry on in Season 5. As viewers will recall, Season 4 opened with Homelander on trial for publicly lasering a protester to death and concluded with an essential coup of the government, placing Homelander’s allies in the White House, where they implemented the deputization of Supes. In other words,...

The Apple TV+ series The Studio is known for featuring big-name filmmakers playing themselves. They all interact with Matt Remick (played by Seth Rogen), the new head of the fictional Continental Studios.

America's current president has no doubt inspired one of the country's most popular, and brutal, modern satirizations, the hit superhero show The Boys. However, showrunner Eric Kripke couldn't have known just how similar the show's blonde-haired, American flag-wearing main villain could be to President Donald Trump. While Homelander actor Antony Starr has stated that the evil superhero represents more than just one bad political figure, the character keeps getting closer and closer to Trump. Most recently, an image of Homelander shared by The Boys's social media accounts directly parodied Trump's latest ridiculous stunt.
In the wake of Pope Francis's death, Trump's social media accounts, including the White House's account, thought it would be a good idea to share, what looks to be, an AI-generated image of the aging president in the Pope's signature white and gold robes and hat. The Studio’s Episode 8 is out, it’s called “The Golden Globes,” and it is another hilarious take on Hollywood and the politics, power, and ego games that come along with it. This time, the backdrop of the episode is the Golden Globe Awards, and it follows how Matt Remick, the head of Continental Studios, is desperately looking to be thanked in Zoe Kravitz’s speech.
The entire episode is a cat and mouse game of Matt trying to get a thank you in Zoe’s speech, for her film ‘Open’. What follows is a hilarious series of events that sheds light on the constant need for people in showbiz to be acknowledged and praised by their peers.
Hollywood’s obsessions with praise and recognition
The episode “The Golden Globes” has adequately shown how people in Hollywood have the innate need to be recognized and thanked, and appreciated for their contribution in huge award ceremonies.

Back in 2023, like all other Marvel fanatics, I was over the moon when I heard Steven Yeun was cast as Sentry in Thunderbolts*, a dream reunion with director Jake Schreier after their killer collaboration on Beef, Netflix’s sharp and hilarious hit. I could already see Yeun crushing it as the unhinged, super-powered Bob Reynolds.
But then, scheduling conflicts from the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes threw a wrench in the plans, and Yeun had to bow out. The void left a sinking feeling and a question: Who will replace the star? Enter Lewis Pullman, handpicked by Schreier to step into the Sentry role, and let me tell you, this guy turned all the disappointment into straight-up hype with a pure dynamite performance.

When Marvel’s strongest heroes clash, it’s never just about who can punch harder; it’s about who breaks first. And no showdown embodies that better than the explosive face-off between Sentry and the Hulk during World War Hulk. On one side, you’ve got the Hulk, angrier than ever, and on a revenge mission that no Avenger can stop. On the other hand is the Sentry, Marvel’s unstable golden god with the power of “a million exploding suns”… and a dark side that makes even villains nervous.
This wasn’t your average comic book brawl. It was emotional, messy, and apocalyptic in scale. But here’s the thing: this fight wasn’t just physical—it was personal. Two of Marvel’s most powerful forces go head-to-head in a battle that shook not only buildings, but the very foundations of who they are.
So what happens when unlimited rage meets unlimited power?...

Endings. Endings. Endings. It’s not a good feeling when a show that you very much like reaches its finale. That’s where several shows and movies fail miserably, and they go from the best thing you’d ever see to the worst show in all of humanity (*cough* Game of Thrones).
Well, another show that has been doing so great so far is Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys, and that has me worried. With 4 iconic seasons to its name, the show has received worldwide fame and acclaim, and the final season is upon us. So naturally, we decided to write an article on how The Boys could screw it up (hopefully not).
The Boys can have three terrible endings
The obvious choice would be Antony Starr’s Homelander winning it all (and that would be an amazing ending), but for the sake of this article, we will be eliminating that potential ending.

Denzel Washington is one of the most accomplished actors in Hollywood history, and a rare example of a star who has maintained a commitment to challenging roles that showcase his unique talent. He was outstanding in Joel Coen's 2021 expressionist nightmare "The Tragedy of Macbeth" and in a 2016 adaptation of August Wilson's "Fences," which, while it was a flop, remains Denzel's favorite movie role. But we'd all be kidding ourselves if we didn't acknowledge our insatiable appetite for watching Denzel Washington punch and shoot his way through an action movie.
The veteran star has proved his ability to hand out beatdowns even as a 70-year-old with his "Equalizer" trilogy.
