David Nathan Schwartz attended the professional actor-training program at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. He toured with various theatre companies before moving to Los Angeles where he has acted and directed in many theatre venues including six seasons as an actor with the Independent Shakespeare Co. In his mid thirties was felled by a brain tumor and lost the use of his voice for a year. During recovery and physical and vocal therapy he began his writing adventures culminating in his award winning solo comedic play about the ordeal, "My Brain Tumor: A Mind Expanding Comedy". He has toured his play and has spoken at Theaters and Medical Schools across the nation. He also helps actors develop one person shows. For almost two decades he taught acting, improvisation and character writing at the prestigious Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. Many of his past students from LACHSA continue to work on stage and screen, including Sarah Joy Brown, Finn Wittrock "Corbin Bleu, Spencer Grammer, Clea DuVall, Leonard Earl Howze, singers Josh Groban, Este and Danielle Haim of the band HAIM and many others. With his partner, Michael J. McDonough they continue to develop screenplays and Mr. Schwartz continues to act, write, direct and teach.
