The film, called ‘Life On The Road’, follows the story of Brent who takes his band on a tour around the country, financed by himself.
Gervais confirmed the news on his Twitter account earlier today (February 4), admitting that filming was “101 minutes of pure fun. And cringe”.

The band’s other members include group We Are Scientists and Andy Burrows from Razorlight. A number of original songs have been created for the film, one with a notably David Brent style name ‘Please Don’t Make Fun Of The Disabled.’
Around the time of release, the 54-year-old has also revealed that he and his fellow band members will be playing gigs, along with bringing out an album.

Ricky Gervais played his first concert as The Office favourite David Brent alongside his band Foregone Conclusion last night (October 14).
The iconic character performed a ten-track set in which fellow cast member Ewen MacIntosh (Keith Bishop) introduced Brent to the stage.
Former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows joined Gervais on stage as part of a backing band, performing at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London.
Gervais appeared as his alter ego dressed in a waistcoat and oversized sunglasses, commenting: "Fashion, innit."
Tracks included 'Free Love Freeway' which Gervais first sang in the TV comedy's debut series as the boss of Wernham Hogg.
Another song was dedicated to the character's hometown Slough.
"I'm based in Slough, probably the best town in the world," he told the audience. "Everything in this song is factually accurate, so you should learn something."
Tickets sold out for the show in less than 60 seconds. The group are set...

The idea of using a single band or singer-songwriter to score a film has fallen somewhat out of favor since the heyday of the 1960s/1970s, when films like "The Graduate" and "Harold & Maude" used the music of Simon & Garfunkel and Cat Stevens to echo and underline the on-screen action. But a few filmmakers, in conscious homage to those pictures, have given it a stab in recent years, with Badly Drawn Boy's work on "About A Boy" and the upcoming "Being Flynn," and Alex Turner's tunes for "Submarine" being among the more memorable examples.

On an remarkably sunny October day the crowds gathered outside the Empire cinema in London’s Leicester Square to celebrate the premiere of the second Johnny English movie, which we at HeyUGuys have been tracking over recent months. Former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows was forced to change the name of his new band after Coldplay star Chris Martin branded the eponymous title boring. The percussionist and song writer left Razorlight in 2009 - blaming "personal reasons" for his departure.
He subsequently organized a new musical ensemble, and was planning on naming the group after himself. But following a night out with Martin, he decided to put more thought into the band's name.
He tells Britain's Daily Star, "I was in a pub with Chris and I told him I was doing my own thing. He asked what I was going to call it. So I said, 'My name, Andy Burrows'. But he said bluntly: 'That's c**p, you can't do that, nobody would be interested'." He further shares, "I was never any good at band names as a kid and it was absolutely no different as a grown-up,...

Andy Burrows is glad he left Razorlight because his life isn't all about the "f***ing" band. Razorlight are set to go head-to-head with their former drummer - and are terrified they will lose.
