Grey's Anatomy star Camilla Luddington pushed for one actor to remain on the show longer, believing he was the right guy for her character. Luddington has portrayed Jo Wilson since season 9, developing relationships with the likes of Alex Carev and Atticus Lincoln. But ahead of Grey's Anatomy season 21, which premieres Thursday, September 26 at 10 Pm Et on ABC, Luddington reveals that one of her favorite on-screen pairings did not last too long.

Variety has confirmed that Skylar Astin has joined the veteran medical drama in the recurring role of Todd Eames.

Eams is a charming and handsome environmental sciences expert with a gentle soul.

He turns up at Grey Sloan Memorial to visit his pregnant sister, who is a patient being treated by Jo.

The series is no stranger to casting big names for a handful of episodes, and Astin will likely have a lot of fans excited for his arrival.

His first episode is set for Thursday, March 24.

News of the new addition comes as the series prepares to say goodbye to a series regular.

Deadline confirmed last month that Richard Flood will bow out of the series as Cormac Hayes during the March 3 installment.

If you watch Grey's Anatomy online, you know Cormac's exit was already set up during the midseason premiere.

Skylar Astin, previously of the “Pitch Perfect” film franchise, is singing a new tune — that of a “Grey’s Anatomy” recurring star.

The actor, who recently finished up a run on NBC’s “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” is joining the show and playing Todd Eames, and yes, his character is a doctor.

Here’s a character description: Charming and handsome with a gentle soul, Eames holds a PhD in environmental sciences and loves a good spreadsheet. He is close with his sister, who is a pregnant patient at Grey Sloan Memorial.

Astin will make his “Grey’s” debut on March 24. The episode he’ll be featured in is called “Put the Squeeze on Me.”

“Grey’s Anatomy” is currently in its 18th season on ABC. The medical drama stars Ellen Pompeo as Dr. Meredith Grey.
