It’s been a big day for casting news today, hot of the press comes a new addition to the highly anticipated Deadpool 2 with Josh Brolin landing the role of Cable, a role which has been hotly coveted by a number of actors wanting to get in on the unconventional non-superhero bandwagon.
Speculation has been rife since Deadpool hit screens last year where audiences were treated to a post-credits sting which showed Cable would be featuring in its future sequel. Actors such as Brad Pitt, Russell Crowe and even Michael Shannon have been linked to play Cable (who, in the comics is classed as an anti-hero), Wade Wilson aka Deadpool’s nemesis, The development in dropping Brolin’s name has been a shocking surprise to many. Could the leaking of the other names attached have been a red herring all along?

With Fox planning to bring X-Men to the small screen, we look at a few possible comic series that could be adapted...
Fox's apparent plans for a live-action X-Men series gives the fans of mutant's mutant superheroes a reason to be excited. Not just because it promises more screen X-Men that most of us ever thought possible, but also because there's a chance they might delve into a few areas of the license that, realistically, aren't ever going to make it to the movie screen.
The core concept of X-Men - essentially 'people with superpowers' – has lent itself to hundreds of different takes over the years. Assuming that they don't want to simply recast the big names and run two competing franchises based on the same core team (and they might well do this!) where else might they go to find the basis of the TV show?

The X-Men movies are important. They make a lot of money and they helped create Superhero-Era Hollywood and they incepted a certain kind of lucrative career arc in the heads of a generation of young actors. (Do the franchise, take the money, spend a year on greenscreens and the press circuit pretending you understand anything that’s happening, try for the Oscar, repeat.)
And the X-Men movies are important to me. I grew up loving superhero comic books and I grew up loving movies. These two fascinations were not mutually exclusive; but now, more and more, they feel diametrically opposed.
