The confusion was purposely created by the film’s director Imtiaz Ali as he didn’t give Jash the script to bring out the essence of confusion for the character.
Sharing his experience of working with Imtiaz Ali, the actor said: “Imtiaz sir is a magician. It was my dream to work with him, and I am glad Waheguru ji made it a reality. He is so well-researched that I really didn’t have to prepare much for the role. In fact, Imtiaz sir didn’t give me the script, and I was so confused during my first shot on set, and I was lost as I had no preparation.”

The first song ‘Ishq Mitaye’ from the upcoming Diljit Dosanjh-starrer film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ has been sung by Mohit Chauhan. The song, composed by Oscar and Grammy-winning composer A R Rahman, brings together the dream team of Rahman, lyricist Irshad Kamil, director Imtiaz Ali and Mohit Chauhan, who had earlier delivered chartbuster music in ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Tamasha’.
The track is a blend of traditional and modern beats, weaving a musical narrative of the dramatic times in which Chamkila became the iconic music star for the masses in Panjab – the highest record selling artiste ever.
It’s strongly reminiscent of the Punjabi music of the 1980s.
The song was released on Thursday at the ‘Next on Netflix’ event in Mumbai in the presence of Parineeti Chopra, Diljit Dosanjh, Rahman, Mohit Chauhan, Imitiaz Ali and Irshad Kamil.

Let me begin by saying what I will say at the end too Shankar Mahadevan is a musical genius. Reflecting on my journey with Shankar, it all began through the creative Imtiaz Dharker a cherished friend and renowned painter.
She reached out to me to write the lyrics for her documentary focused on Mumbai’s street children. She was aiming to capture their essence through a singular song rather than conventional commentary. I happily agreed.
Guided by Imtiaz, I found myself at a studio to meet Ehsaan Noorani. Soon after, his partner Shankar Mahadevan arrived. It was a brief yet defining interaction. In just minutes, he composed a musical masterpiece, leaving a lasting impression on me.
Later, I called Ehsaan, asking if they would be interested in composing for films. He said he would get back but never did. Later, I learnt that he got so flustered and nervous that...
