Arnold Schwarzenegger, now 75, describes how positive visualization at a young age helped propel his careers in bodybuilding, acting, and politics in the trailer for the upcoming docuseries, Arnold. The three-part doc premieres on Netflix on June 7.
“I saw myself on the stage [with] thousands of people screaming, ‘Ahhnold, Ahhnold, Ahhnold,'” he says, between clips of him flexing so hard the veins on his biceps look like an oil pipeline and thumbs-upping would-be voters. “And when you visualize something very clearly, you believe that you 100 percent can get there.” The trailer then cuts to more flexing,...

President Donald Trump unleashed a torrent of tweets and retweets on Friday night and Saturday morning covering topics like the right-wing personalities who were booted off Facebook this past week and, of course, North Korea, which launched a short-range projectile off its coast Saturday morning, according to South Korean officials.
The tirade began with a tweet around 7 p.m. on Friday night where Trump, apparently misunderstanding that free speech doesn’t entitle a person to unlimited Facebook use, said he was going to “monitor the censorship of American Citizens on social media platforms.

Captain Paul Watson of Sea Shepherd has dedicated his life, and at times his safety, to protecting the harp seals of Canada from brutal, club-wielding sealers who kill the animals for their pelts.

There are good ideas aplenty in Jerry Rothwell's "How To Change The World," which earned an Opening Night slot at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and will be part of the World Documentary Competition. Although its heroes are the founders of Greenpeace and pioneers of the modern environmental movement, "How To Change The World" isn't a blindly unquestioning piece of hero-worship. It's a warts-and-all look at idealism realized, idealism diverted and the fallibility of people with those highest of ideals. Rothwell's film has interesting ideas about the power of propaganda and the manufacturing of a political movement. It also has impressive participation from the available principles in the movement, many of whom have changed perspectives intriguingly in the 40 years since the instigating events in the story, events that astoundingly well-documented at the time. The back-and-forth between the self-representation of the early Greenpeace home movies and Rothwell's contemporary check-in offer both...

A group of anti-whaling advocates was dealt a harsh rebuke Monday after a United States federal appeals court labeled them pirates.
On Feb. 25, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned an earlier decision by a Seattle trial judge that sided with the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, the Associated Press reports. In his ruling, Chief Judge Alex Kozinski agreed with the Japanese groups who originally filed suit against Sea Shepherd in 2011, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer notes.
The society, founded by Paul Watson, has long been known for its aggressive tactics in working to disrupt whaling vessels, according to USA Today. (Sea Shepherd ships are featured in the popular Animal Planet series "Whale Wars.")
Writing for the court, Kozinski said Sea Shepherd ships are in the wrong for the tactics they use in their quest to hinder Japanese whaling activities.

In this edition of "You've Got," "Whale Wars" stars Shannon Mann and Chad Halstead discuss their work with the ocean conservancy organization Sea Shepherd. The group, according to their website, aims "to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species" by using "innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary." According to Halstead, "Sea Shepherd is unique in itself because it's the only one that's actually going out and physically intervening with a lot of illegal activity."

Newly-freed marine conservationist Paul Watson is to make a splash at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday with celebrity supporter Michelle Rodriguez.
The Sea Shepherd captain, who was detained in Germany on an international arrest warrant from Costa Rica officials last week (ends18May12), will host an Sos event at the festival - just two days after he walked free from jail in Frankfurt.
He still faces extradition to Costa Rica to stand trial on charges of putting the lives of fishermen at risk during a high seas protest over shark-finning a decade ago.
A spokesman for Watson tells WENN, "The Cannes event will be an effort to free Paul Watson so he can continue to stop the destruction of habitat and the slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans and conserve and protect ecosystems and species everywhere."
Watson and Rodriguez, who has joined the conservationist and his Sea Shepherd organisation for various ocean campaigns, will also promote new documentary Confessions of an Eco-Terrorist at Cannes, which premiered at the festival a year ago and documents the history of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society leader, including the incident that landed him in hot water in Costa Rica.
Watson was released from jail on Monday after spending eight days in custody. He is currently free on bail.
As the documentary maker and star campaigns for his freedom at Cannes, Sea Shepherd volunteers and supporters around the world will demonstrate outside German embassies and consulates to demand Watson's freedom.
He is scheduled to stage a press conference from the beach of the hotel Le Martinez in Cannes on Wednesday night.

Marine conservationist Paul Watson has been freed from a German jail following publicity campaigns by actress Brigitte Bardot and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The Sea Shepherd captain and star of TV series Whale Wars walked free on Monday after posting 250,000 euros ($318,000) bail in an extradition case from Costa Rica.
Watson was detained in Frankfurt last week (ends18May12) after Costa Rican authorities issued an international request for his arrest, alleging that the conservationist and his crew aboard Sea Shepherd’s Ocean Warrior ship endangered a Costa Rican fishing vessel during a confrontation in 2002.
Defending his actions a decade ago, Watson told reporters upon his release from jail, "I had to take action with my crew a decade ago to protect hundreds of sharks, and of course, those shark poachers have very powerful allies in government and other places."
He has denied any wrongdoing and admits he's puzzled about his arrest.
He adds, "It's very strange that this so-called extradition thing was dismissed by Interpol in every country except Germany."
A spokesman for the Sea Shepherd organisation insists there is a sinister undertone to the extradition request, stating, "The enemies of the oceans are using all of their resources to stop us... This stems from Sea Shepherd victories in curbing shark finning on the high seas."
The confrontation between Watson and his crew and the Costa Rican fishermen featured in a 2007 documentary, titled Sharkwater.
Watson hopes the publicity about his arrest will help generate interest in marine conservation issues: "We have all the laws and regulations we need to protect our oceans, but we don't have governments with the guts to enforce those regulations."
During his week-long jail stay, Watson had celebrity support from Bardot, who offered to switch places with the incarcerated conservationist, and his friends the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who urged fans to seek out more information about his arrest and what he and his crew do on the high seas.

The slaughtering of whales is a huge issue for Whale Wars activist and animal protector Paul Watson. He is a Sea Shepherd who takes his job very seriously and wants nothing more than to stop the unnecessary killing of pilot whales in the Faroe Islands of the North Atlantic. The new season of Whale Wars: Viking Shores is now airing on Animal Planet and a special after-show debate has aired as well.
The debate was a very interesting and eye-opening one as it featured Watson and a Faroese native, musician Heri Joensen. The two men squared off as they each defended their beliefs and feelings regarding the pilot whales. Watson, a staunch supporter of protecting the lives and preservation of whales and Joensen, a man who feels that whale meat should be enjoyed and that they are simply animals to be utilized for their natural resources.

Of course, another benefit that stems from it is that it makes for great TV. Animal Planet’s hit series Whale Wars has seen many a challenge when it comes to protecting whales of the world from old-fashioned, sometimes heartless fishermen. In an attempt to further educate viewers about the cruelty of killing whales, the cable channel will broadcast Whale Wars: Viking Shores, a five-part series which starts tonight, April 27th, continuing the adventures of Paul Watson, his Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and their mission to stop whaling and promote the cause of animal conservation, this time in the Norwegian Sea’s Faroe Islands.

"The camera is the most powerful weapon ever invented."
Captain Paul Watson delivered this well-groomed line by phone to The Huffington Post while discussing a new documentary "Confessions of an Eco-Terrorist" about the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
It was some 30 years ago when director Peter Jay Brown began filming Watson, Sea Shepherd group's founder, to publicize his fight to protect the oceans -- and whales, in particular. After Brown set off to film the group in 1982, he stuck with the group and now considers himself a member.
"Confessions" is his compilation of three decades' worth of Sea Shepherd's often controversial campaigns. This is a group that counts among its accomplishments activities like "ramming and disabling" a whaling ship as it tries to halt the hunting of whales and other marine animals.

Seattle (AP) — A federal judge in Seattle declined to immediately restrain the activities of a Washington state-based anti-whaling group Thursday.
Judge Richard Jones said he would issue a written ruling later, but that he's inclined to deny a request for a preliminary injunction made by Japanese whalers against the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
The whalers — the Institute for Cetacean Research — said the Sea Shepherd group has attacked and rammed their ships off Antarctica during the whaling season, and asked the judge to order them to stop. Some of the clashes have been shown on the "Whale Wars" reality TV show.
Sea Shepherd activists use stink bombs and other nonlethal means to interfere with the whalers. The group argues that its activities are supported by international law, that the court doesn't have jurisdiction in the Southern Ocean, and that it's the whalers who have rammed its vessels.

Last season of Whale Wars looked like it would be the last of the Animal Planet show because Sea Shepherd's campaign against Japanese whalers in the Southern Ocean had apparently succeeded. Last spring, Sea Shepherd's Paul Watson told me "We've actually won the whale wars." That's because Japan suspended whaling due to Sea Shepherd's actions. But now Japan says it will resume its annual whale hunt and says it will work to protect its "research...

Captain Paul Watson of Whale Wars' fame sent Monsters and Critics an update on the fight for the dolphins and whales. Watson writes, "When we arrive, the killers take notice. This point was made very clear most recently with Operation Ferocious Isles as zero whales were killed during our time in the Faeroe Islands. Now two of the Sea Shepherd ships, the Steve Irwin and the Brigitte Bardot, are returning to Great Britain to begin preparations for our next Antarctic Whale Defense Campaign in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. What happens when a TV show’s mission is achieved?
Last February, Japan suspended its controversial whaling operations after years of international criticism — and, more specifically, the aggressive efforts of marine conservation group Sea Shepherd to halt the practice, as chronicled on Animal Planet’s hit Whale Wars.
The activists, in other words, won. So now network has ordered a spin-off that not only continues the show’s legacy of whaling prevention tactics, but is launching a bigger operation than ever before.

While the team on 'Whale Wars' completed their mission to convince Japan to suspend its controversial whaling operations, their work is still not done.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Captain Paul Watson and Peter Hammerstedt will star in a new spin-off tentatively titled 'The Faroe Islands Project.'
In the new series, the Sea Shepherds head to the Faroe Islands, halfway between the UK and Iceland. There, they will launch a land, sea and air campaign in an effort to stop "The Grind," an annual hunt for pilot whales that kills about 1,000 whales per year.

Captain Paul Watson has sent Monsters and Critics an update email on the doings of the Steve Irwin and other ships at sea: "Our crews aboard the Steve Irwin and the Brigitte Bardot successfully carried out Operation Blue Rage during the month of June in the Mediterranean and are now en route to the annual meeting of the International Whaling Commission (Iwc) in the Isle of Jersey. After the Iwc meeting, our ships are bound for the North Atlantic to defend pilot whales from the cetacean killers of the Danish Faeroe Islands," says Watson, star of Animal Planet's "Whale Wars." A new season of "Whale Wars" debuted on Animal Planet Friday night (June 3), and it showcased a more aggressive Sea Shepherd resuming its battle to end whaling -- provided the equipment holds up.
Part of the drama in the season premiere was whether one of Sea Shepherd's ships, the Bob Barker (named after the "Price Is Right" host and animal activist), is still up to the hunting-whale-hunters task. (Spoiler: It is.) The crusaders eventually come upon a fleet of Japanese whaling ships, but rough weather in the Southern Ocean doesn't allow for a direct confrontation.
Sea Shepherd is calling this season "Operation No Compromise," and founder Paul Watson sets the tone in the clip below. A skeptical reporter asks if he really thinks he can end whaling, and he replies, "You can't stop slavery -- that's what they said once."

Animal Planet Scene from “Whale Wars.”
If you define reality television by Snooki, Boston Rob and overweight people shedding half their weight, be clear: you have other options for real life TV. There is some seriously high drama, on the high seas, with human and whale lives at stake. You just need to know where to find it.
Animal Planet’s “Whale Wars” started season 4 tonight. The show is part documentary, part reality, and one giant part social activism vehicle.
