Exclusive: BBC3 controller Fiona Campbell has been tipped to permanently take on Patrick Holland’s Director of Factual, Arts and Classical Music role, with several internal candidates also thought to be in the running.
Campbell is overseeing Holland’s vast brief temporarily until he moves to Banijay in April and several BBC insiders and UK indie sector sources predicted she will be made permanent at that point and her current controller role closed in line with BBC1, BBC2 and BBC4. No firm decision has been made and the official search for Holland’s successor begins shortly.
Holland revealed he is to replace Peter Salmon as Banijay UK Executive Chair this week and a note to staff from Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore indicated Campbell will fill his shoes immediately for several months while he focuses on “special projects.” At the same time, a BBC3 Channel Editor to help with the...

Exclusive: With a return to linear just around the corner, BBC3 channel controller Fiona Campbell is to take on Patrick Holland’s Factual, Arts and Classical Music brief temporarily from this week, as the network seeks a Channel Editor to support Campbell.
Holland is departing to Banijay UK to be Executive Chair in April and a note to staff from BBC Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore, seen by Deadline, said he will stand down from “commissioning responsibilities straight away,” focusing instead on “special projects” for the next few months.
The move has most likely been made to avoid conflicts of interest as Holland is moving to the production sector, and a similar decision was taken when Comedy Director Shane Allen departed to run his own indie earlier this year.

Banijay UK Executive Chair Peter Salmon is to step down next year as the global producer/distributor completes its integration with Endemol Shine in the UK.
Salmon had taken up the Banijay UK reins alongside CEO Lucinda Hicks when the acquisition completed last year, having served as Global Chief Creative Officer for five years prior. He will depart over Easter and a replacement will be sought.
“Peter has been a great partner with Lucinda leading the integration in the UK,” said Banijay CEO Marco Bassetti. “While the business continues to grow and evolve from here-on-in, the initial integration is complete, and we understand now is an opportune time for him to move on to pastures new.”
Salmon described a “logical time to move on” and said it had been “tremendous fun, first of all spearheading the creative charge globally for the group, then helping lead such a powerhouse of UK...

Power Rangers Samurai: The Team Unites
Stars: Hector David Jr, Brittany Anne Pirtle, Rene Naufahu, Felix Ryan, Kate Elliott, Steven Skyler | Directed by Peter Salmon
Confession time: I have a soft spot for the Power Rangers. From the very first time I saw the original series debut in an early morning slot on ITV, to the shows recent marathon showings on satellite channel Kix!, I’ve kept up with the franchise even if I haven’t seen every episode. For me the show lost it’s way a little once Disney took the reigns – they obviously chose to aim the series at a younger audience than previously, often toning down the violence and over-simplifying the shows stories (it’s especially obvious if you take a look at the original Far East iteration of the show). So when news broke that Saban had bought back the rights to the series...
