At 10.29am on 9 October 2019, Coleen Rooney posted a statement on Twitter. It was crafted with all the narrative tension and dramatic flair of a classic whodunnit. “For a few years now,” it read, a follower on her private Instagram account had been sharing details of her posts with The Sun newspaper. After puzzling over the case for “a long time”, she developed a hunch as to “who it could be” – to prove it, she constructed a simple but dazzlingly effective social media sting operation.
Rooney, the wife of former England captain Wayne, blocked all but one account from viewing her Instagram Stories, then cooked up a handful of fake news titbits: one claimed she was considering flying to Mexico to investigate gender selection treatment, another hinted at a return to TV and a third bemoaned a (fictional) flood at the Rooneys’ new home. These stories made their way into the...

The so-called “Strictly curse” has been a tabloid mainstay for at least a decade, founded on the idea that participating on Strictly Come Dancing (whether as a celebrity or a professional dancer) threatens the status of the relationship you’re in when you sign up.
Stories of its destructive power arrive like clockwork each winter. Along with forgotten B-listers and stars of Holby City and/or EastEnders hitting the dance floor, hysterical headlines will report on Strictly duos left so erotically charged in pasodoble rehearsals that they dump their spouses.
Presenter Claudia Winkleman has repeatedly shot down the curse, once saying that it’s less a supernatural occurrence as merely the Strictly experience being “intoxicating”. It is also true that dancing is an obvious aphrodisiac. Regardless whether you're rehearsing an intimate routine or not, dancing releases endorphins and makes you happy (it’s science!). Similarly, throwing yourself into a diligent...

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2021, broadcast live and exclusively on ITV, Stv and the ITV hub this evening from the Etihad Stadium, has raised a record-breaking £13,014,769 so far for Unicef’s vital work keeping children around the world, happy, healthy and able to play.
Robbie Williams, Usain Bolt, David Beckham
This record-breaking amount was raised thanks to the generous support of the UK public, ITV and Stv viewers, and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (Ciff) who matched all public donations up to £6.3 million, meaning double the difference for children. This figure has smashed all previous records for money raised on the night.
The eagerly anticipated match took place once again in Manchester, and this time players took centre stage at the sold out Etihad Stadium with 51,674 fans in attendance, in line with current Covid safety regulations, following last year’s match behind closed doors. The match ended 3-0 to Soccer...

London, March 5: Singer Louise Redknapp has revealed in her recently released book You've Got This that she felt unimportant during the last few months of her marriage with former English football star Jamie Redknapp.
She also writes that she should have told herself the importance of not feeling that way, according to dailymail.co.uk.
"For a long time, I ticked all the boxes of being the 'picture-perfect' wife. The truth? For a lot of that time, I actually felt lonely, anxious and unimportant. Looking back, I wish I'd sat down and really tried to explain how much I was struggling, how unimportant I felt in our lives together and how depressed this made me feel," Louise wrote.
Louise and Jamie were married for 20 years and have two children. They parted ways in 2018.

London, Feb 22: Singer Louise Redknapp feels she should have worked harder to save her 21-year marriage with her ex-husband, former Liverpool and England football star Jamie Redknapp.
"I should have paused for a minute and thought about other people and had just a bit more time to work out why I felt I couldn't do it anymore. All I know is, I wish I'd tried (to save the marriage?)," Louise said in an interview with You Magazine.
The singer spoke her heart out three years after her divorce.
Talking about the emotions that prompted her to end her marriage, she said, "I didn't want to lose so much of the good feeling. Before anyone could stop me, I just ran, as fast as the wind would take me. I never once looked behind, until maybe too late. "...

Speaking at U.K. pay-tv operator Sky’s programming showcase at London’s Tate Modern art museum, on the banks of the Thames River, Wednesday evening, its CEO, Jeremy Darroch, said: “In the 12 years I’ve been running Sky I’ve never seen a lineup on screen like we are going to have in the next year or so.”
The event, described by its host Chris Evans as “the biggest season launch any TV company in Britain has ever undertaken,” was staged in a theater dressed to look like a ritzy jazz lounge, with plush red-velvet seating and art-deco lamps, and chilled champagne and herb-infused olives at every table. The waiting staff were all dressed as bell boys straight out of “The Grand Budapest Hotel.”
In total, Evans held onstage interviews with 33 star guests, who included a paparazzo’s dreamscape of tabloid-ready celebrities, including cricketer and “Top Gear” frontman Freddie Flintoff,...

After weeks of waiting to hear of Arsene Wenger’s fate, surely this latest defeat is the time he tells the world what he has decided. For me it is clear, he must be calling it a day at Arsenal. He had the opportunity to confirm he was staying after the West Brom game a few weeks back. The fact he left the fans and media waiting by saying ‘I’ve made my decision’ was just a way of biding more time before the inevitable.
The 3-0 defeat at Palace surely is the result in which he answers the million dollar question. It’s all becoming a bit farcical at Arsenal. The icing on the cake was Walcott’s comment ‘We are back to our best’ after taking 60 minutes to break the deadlock against Premier League strugglers West Ham at home, to then lose at Selhurst Park. With Tottenham apparently as keen as Newcastle to clear out as much of their fringe squad as possible before the transfer deadline passes, Aaron Lennon’s future looks assured to be away from White Hart Lane – at least in the short term.
The former Leeds player has seen his opportunities limited at Spurs under Pochettino since the summer and has been erratic in form for the past few years, but his pace is still an almighty weapon and he could certainly do a job for any team looking to add something different to their front line.
According to Sky Bet, Everton are still the most fancied destination for the sometimes England man, and they could certainly do with some reinforcement after a poor season that has seen them a lot closer to the bottom of the table than the top. Stoke had been suggested as a likely destination,...

When the Spice Boys descended upon Anfield, they were either redefining the standard view of modern masculinity, or ruining a long Kop tradition, depending on who you asked. The metrosexual escapades of Jamie Redknapp, David James, Robbie Fowler and co – which saw them spending more time looking stylish, driving expensive cars and going clubbing than focussing on actually playing football, according to tabloids of the time – seemed slightly at odds with the history of footie-obsessed hard men that had played for Liverpool over the years.
It’s one of those often contested truisms that back in the “good old days” football was populated by “proper players”, which usually means they were mildly psychopathic alcoholics. Both of which are traits which, to be honest, does actually go a way to making you a more effective player: or, at least, a more terrifying one. The annals of Anfield...

Despite uttering the infamous line "you can't win anything with kids", Alan Hansen went on to become one of the longest-running and most well-respected football pundits in the UK.
After 22 years, Hansen has appeared on his final edition of Match of the Day on BBC One, leaving Alan Shearer as the only regular pundit alongside Gary Lineker on the flagship football show.
With a place to fill, Digital Spy has selected 11 potential candidates to replace Hansen as the next full-time pundit from the 2014/15 season onwards.
1. Gary Neville
The BBC may be tempted to sensationally poach arguably the best pundit working today in Gary Neville. Sky are highly unlikely to let the older Neville leave, but he would bring a modern, technology-filled touch to proceedings. Despite only working on TV for a couple of seasons, he has already built a reputation as an intelligent expert, rather than just an ex-player saying a few words on screen.

The sporting panel show, which will air its eighth series in the summer, is now secure until 2017 thanks to the deal.
Sky1's director Adam MacDonald said: "A League of Their Own's energetic blend of sport and big, hearty laughter has grown to become one of Sky1's strongest returning series. Its popularity with Sky customers is a thing to treasure, and I'm delighted we have agreed a three-year deal to continue that success story."

The arrival of former Man United first team coach Rene Meulensteen alongside Martin Jol in the Fulham dugout has thrown the incumbent Fulham manager’s future into question. Frankly, we’re not surprised. Languishing in 18th position, the Cottagers have lost their last three in a manner best-described as spineless.
Presumably, the owner of the North London side (and the Premier League’s best moustache) Shahid Khan has seen enough, or rather not enough, over the last few weeks and has decided to act now before it’s too late.
With a forward line consisting of Dimitar “The Artist” Berbatov, Darren “I’m Still The Best Centre-forward In England, Honest” Bent and Bryan Ruiz, Fulham have scored a meagre 4 goals at home in the league. You have to feel for their fans. Based on ticket prices alone, they’re forking out around £25 per goal!

Louise Redknapp won't rejoin Eternal for the next series of The Big Reunion, it has been reported.
The '90s girl group are rumoured to be reforming for the ITV2 series, and Redknapp was previously thought to be on board.
The singer, who launched a successful solo career after leaving the band in 1995, was said to have signed a deal worth £500,000 to appear on the show and take part in a subsequent arena tour.
However, fresh claims in The Sun state that Easther and Vernie Bennett and Kéllé Bryan will reunite without her after she decided to focus on her family life with husband Jamie Redknapp.
Louise, who has moved into TV presenting in recent years, previously said: "I wouldn't be upset at all if the girls wanted to reunite without me.
"It would be fun, but if Eternal were ever to get back together it would be a new...

As the transfer window inches shut and we welcome back actual football, the battle lines on the airwaves and TV screens have been drawn.
BT and Sky are battling it out on the telly, while Absolute, talkSPORT and the Beeb scuffle over radio. Max Rushden has a foot in a couple of camps, presenting a show on talkSPORT and heading up Soccer Am with Helen Chamberlain.
Ahead of this weekend's top-flight kick-off, Digital Spy met up with Max to talk about the season ahead.
Are you happy that transfer madness is nearly over and some matches will start soon?
"I do love transfer speculation to the point of checking the gossip each day, seeing what it is, and then going off and doing something else. I always have a lot of sympathy and respect for the guys on Sky Sports News or talkSPORT every day who are still managing to...
