Derek Johnson II is an American screenwriter and director from Tennessee. He started acting in theater at a young age, which heavily influenced his love for writing. He has made several award-winning films including multiple viral videos. After graduating from FSU, he attended the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles. His work is known for its fast pace and mix of genres. He has been featured on Fox, CBS, VoyageLA, and NBC. He is also a charter member of the Academy's Museum and is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS). In March 2021 became a Founding Investor of Pencilish Animation Studios and Black Sands Entertainment, a Black-owned graphic novel Publishing company.
