The Amazon Prime Video series “The Summer I Turned Pretty” has made a splash with its loaded soundtrack. By now it is safe to say that “The Summer I Turned Pretty” and Taylor Swift go hand in hand because author and show creator Jenny Han has made it so.
The first season had five Swift songs ranging from her “Lover” album to “Fearless (Taylor’s Version),” and the Season 1 trailer debuted “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” from the yet-to-be-released re-recorded “1989.” Season 2’s teaser was set to “August,” and then the official trailer debuted “Back to December (Taylor’s Version)” shortly before “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” was released July 7. Only time will tell if Season 2 ties Season 1 for how many Taylor Swift songs it contains.
The sequel season’s summer-y soundtrack also contains hits from repeat artists Olivia Rodrigo, Tyler the Creator, Caroline Polachek and more. A Fleetwood Mac ballad punctuates a particularly emotional scene,...

December 12, 2022 – Closing out another monster year, multi-platinum rapper Lil Tecca unleashes his new track “Blessing” via Galactic/Republic Records/Universal Music Canada.
The melodic production perfectly complements his hummable flow. He leans into the beat with quotable rhymes before he proclaims, “I’m the blessing, so who bout to bless me now?” Once again, Tecca pulls off a masterful balance of lyrical acrobatics and soaring harmonies.
It serves as the follow-up to his latest anthem “Treesha.” In addition to piling up over 20 million streams, it earned widespread critical acclaim. HotNewHipHop hailed it as “bouncy” and noted, “Lil Tecca has proven himself to be one of the most consistently catchy artists in the hip-hop world.” Our Generation Music dubbed it an “instantly catchy banger,” and Rap Radar promised, “Lil Tecca keeps his momentum going.”

A sprig of roaring power emo with your grime, madam? Side of jazz soul? Dash of playlist indie? The modern Reading Festival is an eclectic beast. For the first 45 or so years since the oldest existing popular music festival settled in Reading, through periods of prog, hard rock, metal and indie dominance, it acted as the place that anyone who wasn’t interested in pop music could make their summer second home. Since around 2018, though, it’s faced an identity crisis. What do you do when your core niche – rock music – no longer sells the tickets you have to shift?
Reading & Leeds’s answer has been to attempt to become all festivals to all people. The 2022 edition, as a result, resembles three different festivals for the price of one, and originally looked like R&l crystalising its regenerated identity after several confused years in the stylistic wilderness, when it pandered...

The Billboard Music Awards were held on Sunday night, May 15, honoring the biggest hits in music. Like the fan-voted VMAs or American Music Awards, this event is more or less a popularity contest, but listeners didn’t get to vote directly for the winners. Instead, these awards celebrate Billboard chart achievements based on album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, and social engagement during the eligibility period of April 10, 2021 through March 26, 2022. Scroll down to find out who the 2022 Billboard Music Awards winners were.

The Billboard Music Awards take place on May 15, These honors recognize the biggest commercial achievements as measured by the Billboard charts, but while many default their predictions to whatever topped the publication’s Year End charts, it’s important to remember that the BBMAs eligibility deadline was in March, several months after the Year-End charts were decided, opening the door for possible surprises. Let’s take a look at the biggest contenders for this year’s ceremony in rap races.

Polo G and Lil Baby hit the streets of Los Angeles in their new music video for “Don’t Play.” The song, off Polo G’s recent album Hall Of Fame 2.0, is accompanied by a video showcasing the rappers’ best Fast and Furious impression, with the pair showing off their slick, fast cars.
Polo G dropped Hall of Fame 2.0, the deluxe edition of his chart-topping 2021 LP, in December. The album tacked an additional 14 tracks to the original LP, which arrived in June 2021 — including the previously released Michael Jackson-inspired single...

The 2022 Brit Awards was a night filled with good music and fun moments at the O2 Arena in London, hosted by Mo Gilligan - with the help of Maya Jama - and held in front of an audience of nominees, presenters, and key workers.
It's be the second time the BRITs has taken place in real life since the pandemic, and we weren't disappointed with the great lineup of performances, including best new artist winner Little Simz, BRITs rising star Holly Humberstone, and best rock/alternative act Sam Fender - to name a few. The roster of live presenters was pretty great, too. Idris Elba, Celeste, Tom Daley, Mo Farrah, and Clara Amfo were among the many.

Adele’s reign atop the album chart is over, at least temporarily, as the music of Disney’s “Encanto” took over the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, becoming the first film or TV soundtrack to reach that peak in more than two years.
The animated movie’s popularity after its debut on the Disney Plus streaming service was also felt on the Billboard Hot 100, as the Lin-Manuel Miranda-penned song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” soared 45 spots to No. 5.
Adele could still claim one out of two chart-topping spots, as her song “Easy on Me” made its stand at No. 1 on the Hot 100 for an eighth week, even as her album, “30,” slipped to the No. 2 spot on the album chart after six weeks of supremacy.

As Christmas playlists continue their usual December boom on streaming platforms and on the radio, Adele nevertheless maintains her hold on the number-one spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart and the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the tracking week that ended on December 9. Read more on Billboard.com.
Adele’s “30” remains at number-one for the third week in a row on the Billboard 200 with 193,000 equivalent album units based on combined album sales, track sales, and online streaming performance. That’s down 33% from last week, but it’s still the best third week for any album since Drake‘s “Scorpion” more than three years ago. And “30” has some breathing room from the holiday onslaught. Taylor Swift‘s re-recorded “Red” maintains its number-two position, while Polo G‘s deluxe addition of “Hall of Fame” jumps to number-three.

2021 American Music Awards hip-hop predictions: Drake vs. Lil Baby? Megan Thee Stallion vs. Cardi B?
Drake, Cardi B, Lil Baby, and Megan Thee Stallion are among the big names nominated at the 2021 American Music Awards. From possible firsts to returning champs, let’s take a look at who might win this year in hip-hop categories.

This will likely be a face-off between Drake and Lil Baby. Both rappers have large fan bases and have ruled hip-hop for the last couple of years. Still, a core audience might go for the pure hip-hop of Lil Baby, who has undoubtedly amassed a strong following of his own. As anyone who has spent a minute or two on Tik Tok can tell you, songs from the Venom movie franchise have a prosperity to go viral…not entirely unlike the alien symbiote himself.
A track from legendary rapper Eminem, fittingly titled “Venom,” that was featured in the 2018 Tom Hardy film has popped up all over the Internet in recent years. Here is a particular favorite example of mine.
Yes, most of these memes have to do with filicide. Read into that what you may. Now that the long-awaited sequel to Venom is out, Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage, shouldn’t we be expecting another quality Eminem song to go along with it? The answer to that, as it turns out, is a resounding: yes!

2022 Grammys could be more diverse than ever, with contenders ranging from hip-hop to K-Pop to Latin
It’s no secret that award shows often struggle with diversity. Moments like #OscarsSoWhite and #GrammysSoMale have been responses to the constant disrespect some award shows have shown to marginalized groups, particularly women and people of color. In particular, the Grammys have had a rocky relationship with representation, struggling less with who they nominate and more with who wins. A lot of people have also felt like the Grammys relegate artists of color — especially Black artists — to “Black” categories like R&b and rap, while going for pop, rock, and country more often in top categories. But this year, with a landmark number of diverse artists from every part of the world eligible for consideration, how could 2022 Grammys diversity turn out?
