- In 2016, John Mark Dougan found a flaw in the state records system and was able to post 14,000 records that were supposed to be confidential. He took on the persona "BadVolf" - a "Russian Hacker" and had the FBI chasing Russian phantoms for months.
- John was in the United States Marine Corps where he was on the Rifle and Pistol team. He later joined the police force.
- John Mark Dougan was followed by FBI surveillance teams, so he had to escape while wearing a wig. He left the united states by flying an airplane over Canada and declaring a medical emergency. Anfer landing at a small airstrip, he fled through the woods into Toronto, where he took a plane to Moscow.
- John grew up in Durango, Colorado. At the age of five, he had a motorcycle. At the age of six, he had a horse named Sidney and at the age of eight, he had his first rifle. He lived as a real American cowboy with boots and a cowboy hat.
- John grew up with computers. At the age of eight he learned his first programming language from his Indian step father, Vinit.
- John was afraid to fly, so he took flying lessons and became a pilot.
- John has two sisters (Jennifer and Stephanie Dougan) and three brothers (Christopher, Sean and Jeffrey Dougan). John is the oldest - his twin sister Jennifer born just six minutes later.
- John is living in Moscow, Russia, where he has a cyber security company and makes some of the world's most sought-after computer gaming tables.
