Attorney General William Barr said on Tuesday that the Justice Department had uncovered no evidence of widespread voter fraud that would fuel an overturning of the presidential election to Joe Biden.
“To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election,” Barr said in an interview with the Associated Press.
Barr’s comments are significant in that he had previously shared some of President Donald Trump’s concerns over mail-in voting in the weeks before the election. And then, two days after major networks called the presidential race for Biden, Barr issued a directive to federal prosecutors to look into cases of alleged voting fraud. That generated concerns that Barr was breaking with Justice Department precedent to wait until after results are certified before pursuing such claims.

Los Angeles County’s Public Health Director, Barbara Ferrer, denied on Tuesday that plans for keeping L.A. school campuses closed amid the coronavirus pandemic are politically motivated and meant to damage President Donald Trump’s election chances. Ferrer insisted comments she made on a conference call last week were only using the school year to reference an early November time frame.
“It had nothing to do with the election per se, as much as it had to do with — we need about six weeks of implementation for the school openings that are going to be happening so that we can have a lot of assessment data that will help guide and inform any decisions we make,” Ferrer told the L.A. County Board of Supervisors. “I apologize for any confusion that I may have caused by referencing the elections in early November.”

The TV network coverage at the corner H and 16th streets near Lafayette Square Park in Washington, D.C. this week went from late-night shots of buildings on fire to protesters fleeing police on horseback, then a robust militaristic buildup, and then hundreds of peaceful demonstrators singing, in unison, Bill Withers’ “Lean on Me.”
By Friday, the intersection had taken on the air of a street fair, the words Black Lives Matter were painted down 16th to end at the corner.
The protests and unrest following the death of George Floyd have produced impactful moments across the country, but a focal point has been this spot, within view of the White House, and network reporters who have been there this a week describe it as disconcerting, surreal and hopeful. Their coverage continues on Saturday, when the largest crowds yet are expected to show up for demonstrations.
Perhaps no other night drew the attention like Monday,...

President Donald Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen has postponed his testimony before the House Oversight Committee, citing threats from President Donald Trump and lawyer Rudy Giuliani against his family.
In what TV news pundits had been eagerly describing as Must See TV, Cohen had volunteered to testify before the House Oversight Committee on February 7.
Wednesday afternoon, Cohen’s attorney Lanny Davis cited “threats against him and his family from President Trump and Mr. Giuliani as recently as this weekend” as well as “Mr. Cohen’s continued cooperation with ongoing investigations,” in a statement announcing the postponement.
“By advice of counsel, Mr. Cohen’s appearance will be postponed to a later date. Mr. Cohen would to thank [House Oversight Committee Chairman] Elijah Cummings for allowing him to appear before the House Oversight committee, and looks forward to testifying at the appropriate time.”
“This is a time where Mr. Cohen had to put his family and their safety first.

Donald Trump Tweet Trashes Michael Cohen After New Report Claims He Had Former Fixer Lie To Congress
Donald Trump finally “responded” to the blockbuster Buzzfeed report alleging he directed former fixer Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about the Trump Tower Moscow project.
Trump cited Fox News’ Kevin Corke in his tweet: “Don’t forget, Michael Cohen has already been convicted of perjury and fraud, and as recently as this week with Wall Street Journal has suggested he may have stolen tens of thousands of dollars…”
To which, Trump added, “Lying to reduce his jail time! Watch father-in-law!”
Buzzfeed did not interview Michael Cohen in its new report, instead citing unnamed investigators outside Robert Mueller’s investigation. Buzzfeed’s sources allege candidate Trump was involved in talks about a Trump Tower Moscow long after his claim they ended in January of 2016. The article also claims that Trump had instructed Cohen to lie about the timeline.
Though Twitter Trump had stayed far away from the subject of the damning report until 10-am-ish,...

The New York Times is facing heat online over the latest edition of its “Trump Bites” animated op-ed series, which features an extended joke suggesting a gay romance between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“This is homophobic,” said Teen Vogue Chief Content Officer Phillip Picardi, echoing the sentiments of many.
“It is implying that being gay is an insult for both of these men. It implies that being gay would emasculate them. It implies that calling them gay together would anger them and incite reaction. This is beneath us,” he added.

Having already heard from Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders on the subject, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump had the privilege of having his big speech at Thursday night's closing of the Republican National Convention fact-checked by the Big Dog himself, President Barack Obama. At a joint press conference with Mexican President Peña Nieto Friday afternoon, Fox News White House Correspondent Kevin Corke asked the President to weigh in on the convention, and while the President said he hadn't watched it, he had read some of what was said...

About a month ago, we reported that White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest misheard a question from Fox News correspondent Kevin Corke, and appeared to answer "no" when asked if he could state definitively that no White House official had ever lied about the Iran nuclear deal. That moment has now exploded into the Great May 9 Transcript Controversy of 2016 because that barely-audible portion of Earnest's reply did not end up in the briefing transcript.
