Rajasthani folk singer Mame Khan, who is known for his Coke Studio track ‘Chaudhary’, has released his new album titled ‘Desert Rose’ (Registan Ro Gulab).
Featuring some of the most revered musicians in the independent space like Purbayan Chatterjee, Taufiq Qureshi, Gino Banks, Sheldon D’Silva, Ojas Adhiya, Dilshad Khan, Amar Sangam and Nihal Kamboj, the album is a colourful celebration of love, life and Mame Khan’s colourful homeland of Rajasthan.
Happy and excited about the release of the music album, Mame Khan said in a statement, “Releasing an album along with six music videos as an independent Folk artist, is a huge achievement. Music is part of my DNA but bringing it out to my audience is another level.”
The entire album along with its music videos was released on Friday onward across all audio streaming platforms.

Mumbai, Sep 28 (Ians) In a fitting tribute, the ‘Bharat Ratna Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar International Music College & Museum’ was inaugurated at the Kalina Campus of the University of Mumbai, here on Wednesday — on the 93rd birth anniversary of the melody queen who passed away on February 6, officials said.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis did the honours in the presence of a large number of ministers, political leaders and music personalities like Usha Mangeshkar, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Meena Khadilkar, Adinath Mangeshkar, Ashok Patki, Sonu Nigam, Anup Jalota, Pankaj Udas, Mayuresh Pai, Taufiq Qureshi, Lalit Pandit, and others.
With this, the University will offer the first six certificate courses of one-year each in Hindustani classical music, Indian flute, tabla, sitar, harmonium/keyboard and sound engineering will be launched with an initial intake of 150 students.

She has transformed into the character she plays in the movie. The first look now has fans waiting to know more about the film and the character she plays in it. Touted to hit the silver screens this year, the film is directed by noted director Kamal. In fact, Manju Warrier is teaming up with the director after 20 long years after having worked together in hit movies such as Ee Puzhayum Kadannu and Krishnagudiyil Oru Pranaya Kaalathu. Interestingly, Kamal had initially offered the role to Bollywood actor Vidya Balan but she turned it down. Later, the role went to Manju Warrier, who lapped it up saying that it is every artist's delight to star in such a role. The film has Murali Gopy playing Madhavikutty’s husband. Tovino Thomas will be seen in a crucial role in the movie as well. It may be noted here that Prithviraj was the initial choice to play the role but he eventually opted out and Tovino was brought in. Others in the star cast include Anoop Menon, Jyothi Krishna and Rasna Pavithran. The film is bankrolled by Raphael Thomas Pozholiparambil and Anto Rocha under the banner Reel and Real Cinemas. M. Jayachandran, Taufiq Qureshi and Bijibal have composed music for this venture with Madhu Neelakantan cranking the camera. The film’s shooting began at the Kamala Surayya Memorial in Punnayurkulam, Thrissur last year and is being shot extensively in Ottapalam. The team had also shot some portions in Ernakulam, Mumbai and Kolkata. Earlier, the plan was to release the film in December 2017 but the delay in production pushed the release to 2018. The exact date is expected to be announced soon.

New Delhi, Sep 17: Popular Indian classical vocalist and percussionist Taufiq Qureshi has used a concoction of recycled cans and drums to create a special musical tribute on the occasion of Ganesh festival.
