Born Geoffrey W. Ames in 1959, just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, William Ames enjoyed a career in academics, public service and the military that spanned 35 years. His love of writing and photography finally came together when attending film school in Paris for the Master of Fine Arts degree equivalent in Screenwriting. He has written, directed and produced short films and a first feature film, Pause Clope (Smoke Break). His first love is documentary film; writing, directing and producing his first short documentary about veteran's living with PTSD along with his colleague and cinematographer Prakshep Borgoankar of Delhi, India. Ames holds a B.A in psychology, an M.A. in history, an M.A. in theology. From 2017 to 2018, while studying at film school, Ames attended the Ecole Acteurs et Artisans directed by Franck Cabot-David, a long time fixture in French classical theatre. Ames was represented as an actor by Agence FA-7 in Paris from 2018 to 2023. He was a member of the French Societe des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques 2018 to 2023 and is a current member of the International Screenwriter's Association. He is a Professional Member of the Educational Theatre Association and the National Writer's Union. Ames debuted on the French TV series, Les Mysteries d'Amour, in April 2019 on the French network TF1. Other TV appearances have been on Canal + (France) and Disney + (US).
