His great grand uncle was Saint Alexis of Carpathia (August 30, 1877-December 2, 1947). Born Alexander Kabaliuk, he was a leader of the Carpathian Orthodox in the early 20th century. In 2001, he was canonized as the first Subcarpathian Russian Orthodox saint.
