It took more than eighteen years for writer/director Nick Cassavetes to manage to get an adaptation of the Boston Teran novel God Is a Bullet (pick up a copy Here) into production, but he stuck with the project, and his film received a wide theatrical release last month. A week ago, it was given a digital release as well – but now it has come to our attention that there are two different cuts of the movie out there. If you seek out the digital version in the United States, you’ll find that the cut available is the full 156 minute cut. But if you go to rent or purchase the digital release in Canada, you’ll find that the movie has been trimmed down to 120 minutes.
We don’t know exactly why the Canadian digital release is 36 minutes shorter than the U.S. digital release. On the Blu-ray.com forums,...

Director Ariel Vromen has found his next project, the buzzy Los Angeles riots script “April 29, 1992” from writer Sascha Penn.
Vromen, whose credits include the well-received Michael Shannon thriller “The Iceman,” has boarded the project with an eye for fast-tracked production, as early as June.

Nicole Kidman may get close to elephants in Our Wild Life. According to The Wrap, Kidman has read and liked the script but "she is currently not attached." The film is being directed by Phillip Noyce based on a script by Jeff Stockwell. Our Wild Life has been compared to films like Out of Africa and Born Free and is "a sweeping drama about Dame Daphne Sheldrick, a Kenyan wildlife conservationist renowned for her work with elephants."
Sheldrick's husband, David, was "the founder and warden of Kenya's giant Tsavo National Park. After his death in 1977, he has lived and worked in the Nairobi National Park. Sheldrick, who's now 76, spent much of her life protecting elephants from war and poaching. After perfecting a milk formula for baby elephants and rhinos, she hand-reared more than 70 elephants and helped rescue other aniamls stolen from Botswana for brutal "training" in South Africa." Nicole Kidman is reportedly eyeing the lead role in the $50 million sweeping drama "Our Wild Life" for Mandalay Pictures reports The Wrap.
The story is based on the true life and work of Dame Daphne Sheldrick, the leading animal conservationist in Kenya. Sheldrick devoted her life to preventing elephant extinction by endeavoring to save baby elephants left orphaned by war, poaching and culling.
A spokesperson for Kidman says "she is currently not attached", though sources closer to the project tell the paper that Kidman is expected to star but no deal is yet in place. Jeff Stockwell penned the script.
"Salt" and "Clear and Present Danger" director Phillip Noyce is attached to helm the project, the latest name after Nick Cassavetes and later Walter Salles were previously linked. Noyce and Kidman previously worked together on 1989's "Dead Calm" which proved a break out international success story for both.

Nick Cassavetes is suing New Line Cinema, claiming he was promised a job helming the planned elephant conservationist biopic "Peaceable Kingdom" but was booted from the project after delivering a full rewrite of the script without being paid.
In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Cassavetes, who has directed "The Notebook" and this summer's "My Sister's Keeper" for New Line, alleges the studio agreed in March to pay him $275,000 (plus $25,000 for office space) to supervise script development and "several million dollars" more to direct the film (also known as "Elephant Orphanage") about Daphne Sheldrick's efforts to prevent elephant extinction in Kenya.
But Cassavetes claims that he and New Line topper Toby Emmerich agreed that the Jeff Stockwell script for the Mandalay Pictures project required a full "page one" rewrite, which he undertook for no additional charge because he was promised the directing gig. Then, once he turned...
