Over the years, “Survivor” viewers have grown accustomed to witnessing a unique treat in each season’s live finale. Self-described superfan Sia would attend the reunion shows in Hollywood and reward her favorite contestants with a special cash prize. Due to the pandemic, the show understandably scrapped all live aspects of its finale and instead opted to pre-tape the winner announcement and reunion on the island. That left fans wondering: what about Sia’s prize money?!
While it’s unknown if the nine-time Grammy nominee doled out any moolah after “Survivor 41” wrapped, she has now officially made her selection for “Survivor 42.” During a video posted on CBS’s social media, contestant Drea Wheeler has learned that she is the beneficiary of a cool 100,000 of Sia’s own money. Maryanne Oketch intends to bring her strong sociability into the game as one of the castaways on “Survivor 42.” The 24-year-old seminary student from Ajax, Ontario explains in her CBS interview how she hopes her gift of making connections will serve her in the game. “I think my strongest asset in the game is gonna be my social skills,” she says. “Making those bonds, I feel will be a very easy thing” (watch below).
What Maryanne also anticipates is that there will come a time when she will struggle to betray her alliances. “What will happen is, my head’s like, ‘Hey Maryanne, watch out, you know this is wrong,'” she hypothesizes. “But my heart’s like, ‘No, I have to see the best in the person. I have to do this.'” If she cannot separate gameplay from personal bonds, this could all lead to some struggle for Maryanne,...

When I was in 7th grade the first season of “Survivor” aired. Like millions around the world I was transfixed as cocky villain Richard Hatch won the game of social politics. For the past 18 years I have continued to watch with fervor. So it was an exhilarating experience this year to go to the grand final of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” and be inside the stadium where the biblical battle concluded. Watch my video recap above.
See‘Survivor’ fans overjoyed as Nick Wilson was top choice for who Should win ‘David vs. Goliath’ [Poll Results]
There are a lot of great strategic and physical games in the world. “Survivor” incorporates those elements, but above all is a game of people — where relationships, emotions and perceptions (or is it perspectives?) need to be navigated in order to win. All while being fatigued and starving. It makes every season unique and the world’s greatest game.

It’s a rare day in the land of reality TV when fans’ favorite contestants go on to win the top prize, but that’s exactly what happened with “Survivor: David vs. Goliath.” Not only was Nick Wilson of the David tribe Gold Derby’s prediction for who Would win Season 37, but this Kentucky public defender was also viewers’ choice for who Should win. Based on the results our recent poll, a whopping 51% of “Survivor” fans were rooting for Nick to win the $1 million check, more than double his closest competitor.

The red carpet of the “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” season finale was just as contentious as the show itself, as five of the show’s finalists stopped by to answer questions and, in Mike White‘s case, poke fun at the website that failed to predict him. “Screw Gold Derby! You’re all losers!” Mike joked in our interview (watch above) after telling the story about how our odds had him in dead last place to win the immunity challenge in the 13th episode. It turned out that was the episode that he actually won his first (and only) individual immunity, so we had egg on our face that week.
However, our odds-makers turned things around in the Season 37 finale by accurately predicting that Nick Wilson would win the $1 million check, that Mike would place second, that Angelina Keeley would place third and that Kara Kay would place fourth. We...

Survivor‘s 37th season has been one of biblical proportions, pitting disadvantaged underdogs (aka “Davids”) against dominant powerhouses (aka “Goliaths”). Two Davids and four Goliaths remained atop Wednesday’s full-night finale, appropriately titled “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility,” but only one would get to leave Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands as the show’s Sole Survivor.
Kara Kay, 30, Angelina Keeley, 28, Alison Raybould, 28, Davie Rickenbacker, 30, Mike White, 47, and Nick Wilson, 27, began the season ender with an equal shot at victory, though their numbers began to dwindle shortly into the finale. The winner of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” will be either Nick Wilson or Davie Rickenbacker, according to the predictions of Gold Derby readers. Nick and Davie are currently the only two remaining members from the original David tribe, following the back-to-back eliminations of Christian Hubicki and Gabby Pascuzzi. On Wednesday, December 19 the final chapter will be written in one of the most compelling seasons of “Survivor” ever. This Biblically themed season initially saw 10 overachieving Goliaths take on 10 underdog Davids. After a harrowing penultimate episode that saw the robotic scientist Christian Hubicki get shafted from the game, there are now only two Davids remaining against four Goliaths.
“Christian was the perfect version of a David,” says Susan Wloszczyna in Gold Derby editors’ video recap with Matt Noble and Marcus James Dixon. So with the numbers against them, can the Davids pull out a secret weapon? Marcus and Susan are skeptical, but Matt thinks they can. Watch our Season 37 finale predictions slugfest above.

I have watched almost all 37 seasons of “Survivor” and know how it works. There are players who are obvious threats to your gameplay, ones that you can ignore for only so long before they endanger your chance winning the title of “Sole Survivor” and those million buckeroos.

As the Season 37 finale swiftly approaches, the Final 7 castaways of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” have officially shed their tribal designations. No longer is there a group of piddly Davids or a collection of gargantuan Goliaths, but instead seven individual players who are willing to turn on each other to win the $1 million prize. Following Wednesay’s double episode of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath,” only eight players are left in the running to win the million dollar prize. While it’s still anyone’s game, some castaways seemingly have a worse shot than others. Below are my picks for the four I believe don’t have a path to the win, with a brief assessment as to why.
Among them are two of the Davids, Davie Rickenbacker and Gabby Pascuzzi, who have mostly taken a back seat compared to their more controlling peers and two of the Goliaths, Mike White and Angelina Keeley, who have been used by both sides as a key number in recent votes.

“That’s a good nickname to have,” Carl Boudreaux tells Gold Derby about being dubbed the “Godfather” by his fellow “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” tribe mates. “Not very many people can be labeled as the ‘Godfather,’ you know? Who wouldn’t want that to be their nickname?” Carl reveals that he had no idea they were all calling him by that moniker and that he only found out by “watching the episode” in which he was eliminated. Despite having so much power in “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” that the other castaways all called him the Godfather, Carl Boudreaux was eliminated at the end of the two-hour episode on Wednesday, November 28. The vote was razor thin between Carl, who received five votes, and Alison Raybould, who earned four. But thanks to the new five-person alliance of Alison, Christian Hubicki, Gabby Pascuzzi, Kara Kay and Mike White, Carl was sent to the jury house. Watch the latest “Survivor” Ponderosa video above.

“We bust this game wide open” was an ominous prospect posed by Nick Wilson last week at tribal council on “Survivor: David vs. Goliath.” Over the past two weeks the original David tribe members have been able to overcome being down in the numbers to level the score against the dominant Goliath tribe. This numbers swing could blur the lines between the original tribes and begin a whole new chapter in this game of Biblical proportions.

Wednesday’s ninth episode of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” ended with the Davids mastering the art of hidden advantages in order to even out the numbers 5-5 against the challenge-dominating Goliaths. After Nick Wilson stole Alison Raybould‘s vote (much to her chagrin) and Carl Boudreaux nullified Dan Rengering‘s idol, the Davids were able to vote Dan out with a clear majority despite Alec Merlino and Kara Kay ultimately voting against fellow Goliath member Angelina Keeley.
Alec and Kara’s votes are key heading in to the next episode because it lays bare the fracture that has always existed in the Goliath tribe and there’s no chance Angelina is going to accept those votes against her calmly. Wednesday’s eighth episode of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” delivered another epic tribal with one of the season’s most unexpected endings. After both Davie Rickenbacker and Dan Rengering played idols to protect their allies Christian Hubicki and Angelina Keeley, respectively, the Davids outplayed the Goliaths to take out John Hennigan with only three votes. John Hennigan has a successful career as a pro wrestler and a writer/producer, so why did he decide to audition for “Survivor: David vs. Goliath”? As John tells Gold Derby the day after his shocking #BrochachoBlindside in Season 37, Episode 8 aired, “The idea of doing something where I’m completely unplugged — no phone, no internet — and spending time with people that I probably wouldn’t otherwise cross paths with and working on myself was very appealing.” Listen to our “Survivor” exit interview above.

Wednesday’s merge episode of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” was officially one for the books as it featured new strategies, alliance double-dealing, backstabbing, gossip-spreading and a whole lot of drool-inducing messiness. Wednesday night the castaways of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” competed as tribes for the final time this season. The struggling Jabeni tribe returned to tribal council with #Jacketgate still on their minds, and though Angelina Keeley was in the hot seat for her deceptive behavior, in the end Mike White managed to get Nick Wilson to go against his word to Lyrsa Torres-Velez instead of sending another original Goliath home.
As we look ahead to next week’s merge episode, the biggest question is how the “David vs. Goliath” theme plays out once they’re all together. Because of Mike’s decision to keep Angelina, the Goliaths hold a 7-6 advantage over the Davids, but we’ve already seen players from both sides jump ship. With that in mind, our second set of power rankings this season is divided into what we see as the three main blocks of players still standing.
