Cartoon Network’s Adults Swim has ordered second seasons for two popular series from international animation studio Titmouse: Christy Karacas’ sci-fi comedy “Ballmastrz: 9009” and Andrew Koehler and Benjamin Martian’s fantasy series “Tigtone.”
According to Koehler, now an executive producer on “Tigtone” – along with Martin and “Workaholics” alum Blake Anderson, “‘Tigtone’ is doing what legends do best: continuing! If he were real, he’d be beyond excited for his shiny new second season.”
The series, which participated in the TV competition at last month’s Annecy Festival, is a fantasy series based on its quest-addicted hero, Tigtone. Poking fun at the fantasy genre and tropes from the video games, table-top games, films and series spawned from it, Tigtone hacks and slashes his way from one adventure to the next with little to no regard for his surroundings or the damage he causes to it along the way.

Just as the way we consume movies has changed in recent years with the advances in smartphone and tablet technologies, the way filmmakers make films has changed as well. In this day and age, companies are developing software and hardware to make life on-set easier for those wielding cameras. With that in mind, the folks at Microsoft have produced an online documentary series about how filmmakers are utilizing their technology in creating art. We’re excited to partner with them to debut the first episode, which you can watch just after the jump. The first episode, which premieres today right here on Film School Rejects, profiles filmmaker Chayse Irvin. Chayse’s recent films include the documentary Spirit in the Stone and Blacktino, a feature film that premiered at SXSW. The episode follows Chayse to various spots in New York City, where he talks about the capabilities of his Surface Pro to capture content for both creative and...

Superjail! (2007-) has somehow made itself to a third season and humanity continues to suffer. If Christy Karacas’s endless montage of stupid violence has an audience, it is almost certainly heavily medicated. In fact, illicit drug use may go some way to explain both the audience and the content of the show. The many and varied ways in which the inmates of Superjail are slaughtered would be impressive if the boundless imagination weren’t spent on mayhem. Fever dream is an overused term, but if it ever applies, it applies to Superjail! The tiniest thread of a story ties an episode together less so than the last image of any sequence (which is usually an inmate’s face being ripped off).

Superjail
Stars the voices of: David Wain, Teddy Cohn, Richard Mathar, Christopher McCulloch, Christy Karacas | Created by Ben Gruber, Christy Karacas, Steve Warbrick
Housed on an island, in a volcano within a volcano, Superjail! is a psychedelic prison run by a megalomaniacal warden and his motley crew. The Warden is the whimsical heir to a hallucinatory correctional facilities empire where grotesque ultra-violence and ridiculous perversion rule the day.
Let’s get this out of the way first, Superjail! is one of the freakiest, bizarre, and downright weird animated shows I have ever seen. It’s like watching the result of a brain fart on screen… and comes across as the grotesque offspring of MTV’s Beavis and Butthead, prison drama Oz and classic Nickelodeon cartoon Ren & Stimpy. And I loved it!
Imagine the freakish close-ups seen in Ren & Stimpy taken to ridiculous extremes and then mixed with the stupid comedy stylings of Beavis and Butthead,...
