Jeff Zimmerman (as Geoff Zimmerman) was raised in the rural region of central California. He grew up passionate about visual arts. "I loved paintings and photography but especially great black and white images created by notable cinematographers." After college, Jeff had been living and traveling in Europe for several years and managed to get work as an actor and stunt person in France. Returning stateside and wanting to step behind the camera, he initially garnered industry experience working for lighting and camera rental firms.
The breakthrough came along in the mid 1980's with advent of MTV. Music production companies were being created to feed the insatiable demand for music videos. Every band on the planet had to have one. The record companies were churning them out with a big demand for crew. Jeff was at the forefront working with top tier pop, rock r&b and rap artists. Plus music videos were known as visually cutting edge, fertile ground for experimenting, trying new things testing skills technically and creatively.
Jeff's other life long passion is motorsports. As a youngster, his father was president of the go kart club, so he was out at the local track at an early age. He's raced sports cars and been working on his own and other peoples vintage vehicles as long as he can remember. Eventually, he merged motorsport and filmmaking to launch the successful YouTube channel Checkered Flag Films.
Notably, in 2005 Jeff DP'd the Oscar winning short documentary, The Children's March.
