He was one of the first people in the UK to own a VCR. In 1973 he paid
GBP 450.00 for a Phillips video recorder (today that amount would be
GBP 4,500). He said he used it to impress the ladies by popping in
video cassettes of himself on TV shows to get "some action" and it
worked!
