Once upon a time, concerned parents warned each other about their children falling under the possibly demonic influence of the metal band Kiss — whose name was falsely alleged to stand for “Knights in Satan’s Service.” But this week, conservatives are standing in solidarity with one of the group’s founding guitarists, Paul Stanley, 71, who issued an unprompted statement calling expression of gender identity among children “a sad and dangerous fad.”

While all of these Resident Evil fan films/shorts are done with heart, fighting zombies and evil corporations doesn’t always have to be serious business. That’s certainly the case with the fan-based web series “S.T.A.R.S”, dark comedy take on Resident Evil has released two episodes so far, with more in the works.
Currently, the series is slated for 15 planned episodes, but there are also several gag reels and trailers to watch. The series is being penned by Michael Young, who has previously worked on other parody videos for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom involving YouTuber Maximilian Dood.
The “S.T.A.R.S.” series takes place two years before the events of the first Resident Evil, and don’t appear to have a continuous plot (so far). For example, the first episode involves two agents working for Umbrella Corporation making a startling discovery about their assigned target,...

Punta del Este in Uruguay is set to become a beacon for the arts and a key tourist destination with the inauguration of the coastal resort town’s first contemporary art museum, the stunning Museo Arte Contemporaneo Atchugarry (MacA), on January 8.
The launch of an arts film festival, Arca, running Jan. 9-14, underscores the museum’s mandate to serve all the arts. Perched on the grounds of the Pablo Atchugarry Foundation, the 75,000 sq. ft. museum designed by architect Carlos Ott overlooks a 62-acre sculpture park and expansive grounds that include a heliport, forests and an outdoor amphitheater. Entrance is completely free of charge.
“When we set up the Pablo Atchugarry Foundation 15 years ago, we conceived it as a meeting place of all the arts with the public. Today we can say that musicians, dancers, writers and visual artists will have passed through here,” said Uruguayan sculptor Pablo Atchugarry whose foundation...
