Entertainment—sometimes, just like God—works in mysterious ways. It’s like throwing spaghetti at the wall; you never know what trends will stick and which will not. There’s a very good argument to be made that when YouTube Red (remember that?) launched a sequel to “Karate Kid,” the chances it would last more than one season were very low. Damn! The chances that this new venture on YouTube will last very long were even lower.
In theory, it sounded like a great idea; then again, when you get something for free, it’s hard to convince people to pay for it despite all the best efforts. Six seasons later (one could argue they were at least a season too long), “Cobra Kai” proved to be so much of a success. Its blend of teen soapy melodrama and some solid fight choreographies was quite engaging. There are very few...

Keanu Reeves is "excited for people to see" 'Ballerina'.The 60-year-old actor makes a small appearance in the upcoming action film - which is a spin-off from his 'John Wick' franchise - and found it "really cool" to work on the project for a short amount of time as he praised leading star Ana de Armas in her role as former dancer-turned-assassin Eve Macarro. Speaking at a screening of the 'Wick is Pain' documentary in Santa Monica, he said: Anyway yeah I don’t do stunts, I do action. "It was really cool to have a chance to put the suit on. Keanu Reeves has pulled back the curtain on his involvement in the upcoming John Wick spin-off film, Ballerina. Reeves has featured in all four John Wick movies to date, and after being absent from the first spin-off, The Continental, he will be seen in a small role in the upcoming Ana de Armas-led movie. Reeves featured in the first trailer for Ballerina, but it’s become clear that his role will be much smaller as the film shines a light on Armas’ Eve. The John Wick star and director Chad Stahelski attended a screening of the new Wick is Pain documentary hosted by THR, and Reeves praised Armas as a “wonderful artist” who is “committed to the action”:
"It was really cool to have a chance to put the suit on. I’ve worked with Ana a couple of times and she’s a wonderful artist, and she committed to the action.

John Wick: Chapter 4 took the world by storm upon its release in 2023, and one of the universally beloved new additions to the film was Caine, portrayed by legendary movie martial artist Donnie Yen. Many North American fans' introduction to Caine came in Rogue One, where he also portrays a skilled fighter, Chirrut, who happens to be blind and is even in tune with the Force. Collider’s Aidan Kelley recently caught up with John Wick director Chad Stahelski and Josh Oreck, who produces under his Narrator banner, to talk about the new documentary, Wick is Pain. When asked if there was any connection to both characters being blind, Stahelski didn’t hesitate to acknowledge that he felt Rogue One could have done more with Yen's Force-wielding warrior:
"Donnie had concerns about it because neither of us felt like that lived up to his potential. I think there was more to do with that character.

John Wick: Chapter 4 might've seemingly ended the main saga of Keanu Reeves's titular badass after the retired hitman succumbed to his injuries in Paris, but the announcement that John Wick 5 was officially in development certainly set the fanbase into speculation overdrive as the state of Reeves's Wick was discussed. After first admitting that the fifth chapter would be "really different," it seems that veteran director Chad Stahelski is still only in the early stages of figuring out exactly how the puzzle pieces will all fit together in a satisfying and cohesive manner.
In an interview alongsideWick Is Pain producer and Narrator co-founder Josh Oreck with Collider's Aidan Kelleyfor their John Wick documentary, Wick Is Pain, Stahelski admitted that they "haven't had that talk yet," in reference to the fifth installment, adding, "We have an idea. U.K. production, sales and distribution outfit Signature Entertainment has acquired the U.K. and Irish rights to the action thriller The Prosecutor, directed by and starring Hong Kong superstar Donnie Yen (Ip Man), from Mandarin Motion Pictures.

“Ain’t no rest for the wicked, money don’t grow on trees…” That old Cage the Elephant lyric hit different when we read Chad Stahelski’s newest bombshell about John Wick 5. Just when we thought Keanu Reeves’ Baba Yaga had finally hung up his guns, Stahelski drops a line that stops time. And we believe him. The director is not just dealing in sequels but in shock therapy for the soul.
Despite Chapter 4 seemingly burying Wick (literally), Stahelski’s cooking up a new tale, a pivot from grief and the High Table saga, with one confirmed face: Reeves himself. And while some may cry foul on continuity, Stahelski isn’t selling a sequel; he’s staging a resurrection. With Ballerina, a Donnie Yen-led spin-off, and the Under The High Table series all in the pipeline, this universe isn’t slowing; it’s recalibrating. And frankly, we’re strapped in.

Chad Stahelski has suggested that the upcoming John Wick 5 will be very different from the rest of the movies in the franchise. The Keanu Reeves franchise will seemingly take a break from its High Table storyline and start afresh.
John Wick has been a notable franchise when it comes to action movies. With a glamorous tuxedo-clad Keanu Reeves, eye-soothing neon backdrops, and stylized Gun-Fu action scenes, it has revolutionized the genre. According to Stahelski, John Wick 5 will take the series to the next level.

With John Wick 5 officially announced, fans keep speculating how Keanu Reeves' titular hitman will rise from the proverbial ashes after seemingly dying in the last sequel, Chapter 4. Though Wick's saga is "over," according to franchise director Chad Stahelski, movie lovers can expect fresh twists and turns that differentiate the next film from previous installments.
Speaking with Empire, Stahelski explained how John Wick 5 will continue Wick's story after the ending of Chapter 4, which saw him succumb to shot wounds following a faceoff with Caine (Donnie Yen) and his cohorts looking on at his gravesite. Though Chapter 4 chronicled Wick's battle with the High Table, Stahelski claimed John Wick 5's story would move on from that saga and teased that there's more to his anticipated return than meets the eye.
“The saga of John Wick was pretty wrapped up,” he said. “So the only way to do a 5 is to have a new story that involves John Wick.

John Wick 5 director Chad Stahelski opens up about the secretive plot of the surprise sequel, explaining how it will continue the tale of Keanu Reeves' titular assassin. The upcoming movie is a continuation of the saga that began with Stahelski and Reeves's 2014 tale of a former assassin dragged back into a life he hoped to leave behind. Currently, Reeves is the only confirmed cast member of John Wick 5, despite the character's supposed passing in the climax of 2023's John Wick: Chapter 4.
When speaking to Empire, Stahelski addressed how John Wick 5 will carry on the Baba Yaga's tale after the last installment seemingly brought his journey to a close. The director stated that with Wick's story seemingly wrapped, the next installment will be an all-new story removed from his ordeal with the High Table, while also carrying the trademark elements of the franchise. You can’t keep a guy like John Wick down. As many shady underworld figures have learned to their cost, Baba Yaga simply keeps coming back. Except, John Wick: Chapter 4 seemed to somewhat close the book on Keanu Reeves’ bullet-spraying assassin. Donnie Yen's John Wick: Chapter 4 spinoff is slowly coming together. Another returning star is now confirmed to appear in the upcoming action movie, which will focus on Yen's assassin Caine after the events of the 2023 blockbuster.
According to Variety, Rina Sawayama will reprise her role as Akira, the fearless daughter of Hiroyuki Sanada's Shimazu Koji, in Caine. She made her debut in Chapter 4, where she quickly became a fan favorite. Sawayama is now the second confirmed actor for Caine, which will follow the title character after he has been freed from his obligations to the High Table, after Yen. Sawayama's return isn't entirely surprising, considering that Chapter 4's post-credits scene showed Akira seeking revenge for the death of her father by hunting Caine.

Rina Sawayama, who received acclaim for her performance as Akira, a fan-favorite in Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 4, will reprise her role opposite Donnie Yen in the upcoming Caine spinoff film. The announcement was made today by Adam Fogelson, chair, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.
The film will be produced by franchise producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee through their Thunder Road shingle, and by Chad Stahelski, who produces through his 87Eleven Entertainment production banner.
It was previously announced that the iconic and influential martial arts legend Donnie Yen will reprise his renowned role as Caine and will direct. The new film is stylistically modeled on the uniquely designed action films that Yen helped make famous, while being developed through Chad Stahelski’s deal with Lionsgate as he oversees the expansion of the John Wick universe. Akira (Rina Sawayama) is coming back to the world of John Wick. The character will be seen in Caine, the upcoming spinoff centered around the character portrayed by Donnie Yen. Details regarding the premise of the project remain under wraps. While Lionsgate wants to keep plenty of surprises for when this story premieres on the big screen, it's been confirmed that the movie will follow Caine now that he doesn't work for the High Table. Akira was introduced during the events of John Wick: Chapter 4. The new film will give her the chance to steal the spotlight once again.
John Wick: Chapter 4 presented Akira as the daughter of Shimazu Koji (Hiroyuki Sanada). Growing up in the middle of the war between the criminal underworld and the High Table, Akira developed intense combat skills that allowed her to survive for so long. The summer of 2002 kicked off a whole new era in spy movies, but not in the way Hollywood expected. You see, three spy movies were coming out that year, and only one of them was predicted to be a hit. They were the Ben Affleck Jack Ryan flick, The Sum of All Fears, his pal Matt Damon’s The Bourne Identity, and Vin Diesel’s XXX. In fact, all three of them made money, but The Bourne Identity, a notoriously delayed and troubled production at the time, became a classic. The movie everyone expected to be a hit, XXX, did fine, making $142 million, which was a tidy sum. Still, given that it was expected to be the biggest hit of the summer, Hollywood insiders considered the film a disappointment. The end of the film promised that Xander Cage would return, but the time XXX: State of the Union hit theaters three years later,...

Keanu Reeves has been John Wick for more than a decade. And now, the franchise star is taking fans behind the scenes of how the films are made. Documentary “Wick Is Pain” features Reeves, director/producer Chad Stahelski, and producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee as they discuss how the 2014 film spurred four sequels (a fifth film was recently announced), two spinoffs, two series, and more.
“John Wick” began as an independent film, and went on to famously change modern action filmmaking. Now, the franchise has become one of the inspirations for a new Academy Award category for stunts. “Wick Is Pain” is directed by Jeffrey Doe, and produced by Josh Oreck, Gabriel Roth, and Matthew Sidle, with Tina Carter executive producing.
“I’m excited to share and be a part of taking fans behind the curtain on the extraordinary journey of making the John Wick films,” Reeves said of the documentary.

Havoc (2025) isn’t your typical action thriller. Directed by Gareth Evans — the man behind The Raid — this Netflix Original stars Tom Hardy as a detective who dives deep into a city crumbling under corruption after a drug deal spirals out of control. From what we’ve seen in early reviews and trailers, it’s not just about high-octane fights and shootouts. There’s a darker layer about broken systems, survival, and redemption. If that kind of gritty, relentless energy is your thing, then you’ll definitely want to check out these movies like Havoc. Each one brings its own intense flavor of crime, chaos, and complicated heroes.
Kill Zone (Spl)
If you’re on the hunt for movies like Havoc that mix intense action with heavy emotions, Kill Zone (also known as Spl) is a solid pick. Just like Havoc, this one’s all about the blurry lines between right and wrong.

Quentin Tarantino is one of the most revered filmmakers of his generation. From Reservoir Dogs to Django Unchained, Tarantino has never failed to amaze fans and critics with his incredible genius and filmmaking talent. However, when many of us hear the name ‘Quentin Tarantino,’ his bloody Kill Bill saga is sure to come first to our minds.
Way back in 2003 and 2004, the filmmaker unleashed Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, a two-part cinematic spectacle that shocked the world with its brilliant infusion of samurai swordplay, spaghetti western grit, and anime-inspired violence. Essentially a revenge saga for the ages, the franchise has today assumed the status of cult classic, drawing in viewers even today.
At the heart was Beatrix Kiddo, aka the Bride, portrayed by Uma Thurman. A former assassin on a relentless quest for vengeance, both films not only turned out to be box office successes but also cemented their place in pop culture,...

Get your first look at the cast of killers in From the World of John Wick: Ballerina with a new set of character posters. There are old faces and new among the murderers' row of characters in the long-awaited actioner. The movie will pirouette its way into theaters on June 6, 2025.
Ana de Armas leads the cast of the film as Eve Macarro, a ballerina-slash-assassin from the same organization John Wick (Keanu Reeves) grew up in, as seen in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. That organization is led by The Director (Anjelica Huston), who returns for Ballerina. Other familiar faces on the posters include Reeves' Wick, Continental hotel manager Winston Scott (Ian McShane), and Continental concierge Charon (Lance Reddick); it will be the late Reddick's last performance. New faces include Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects), Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Catalina Sandino Moreno(Maria Full of Grace), David Castañeda (The...

Although the story of Andor, as good as it is, has been told multiple times, I think it bears repetition because of how mind-blowing it actually is. Rogue One was undoubtedly fantastic, and appreciation for the work done by Gareth Edwards and his team has only grown with each passing year. But I don’t think you’d look at a cast that has Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, and Forest Whitaker in it and decide to make an entire show around Diego Luna’s character, especially since they all died at the end of that film. On top of that, when the show was about to be released, excitement for anything new from the franchise was at an all-time low due to the laughably bad The Mandalorian Season 2, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, as soon as we set foot into the incredibly...

The poster spotlights Ana de Armas' Eve Macarro in a crowded field of new and familiar faces to the John Wick universe, including Wick (Keanu Reeves), the Director (Anjelica Huston), and Winston (Ian McShane) surrounded by guns and ornamental backgrounds. There were no new John Wick projects sent out into the world last year, but that all changes this year, thanks to Ana de Armas. The Blade Runner 2049 and No Time to Die star will lead a new John Wick spin-off movie, Ballerina, that just got a thrilling new look. The official Ballerina Instagram account shared a new clip from behind the scenes of the upcoming action film, which shows Armas battling a foe with a pan, proving she’s every bit as resourceful as Keanu Reeves’ John Wick. In addition to Ana de Armas, Ballerina will also star Norman Reedus as Pine, with Lance Reddick and Ian McShane reprising their roles as Sharon and Winston, respectively. Reeves will also appear as John Wick in the film, which is coming to theaters on June 6.

Over the past few years, Hollywood movies have been soaring in the international market; there has been a shift in the way global audiences react to their movies. There used to be a time when the U.S. box office alone could make or break a movie. Now, China, the world’s second-largest movie market, has become a key contributor to making a Hollywood project successful.
Their taste for high-octane action and emotional epics has led to movies quietly making more money in China than they did back home. Sometimes, the star power, paired with clever marketing, can really elevate a movie’s appeal, turning the projects that once were sometimes meh in the U.S. into global hits.
From movies that feature actors like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Tom Cruise, and Brad Pitt to movies that stand out due to technical marvels and use stunning visuals like the Transformers,...

Which special skill did Keanu Reeves have to learn for John Wick 4? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Yes, you see, this time, the guy had to saddle up, literally. For the film’s opening sequence, Keanu Reeves had to master horseback riding, and not just the casual kind. He aimed to fast-gallop through the desert like a seasoned rider. As he put it during an Esquire interview, “There’s a sequence—hopefully, knock on wood—in John Wick 4, the opening sequence. John Wick is back in the desert on a horse. I’m going to hopefully be able to fast-gallop and run.”
Now that’s not what fans expected. After all, the John Wick series thrived on neon shootouts, slick martial arts, and stylish mayhem. But tossing Reeves back into the wild terrain on horseback was peak Wick, and he didn’t shy away from the challenge. When asked if...

If there's one other thing that the John Wick franchise isn't lacking besides next-level stunt work and action, it's colorful supporting characters. Since the first film in the series, each subsequent entry has managed to expand the world of assassins and gun-fu even more with new influential figures. Whether it's a member of the high table like Bill Skarsgard's character, Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont, or John Wick's (Keanu Reeves) fellow hitmen such as Caine (portrayed brilliantly by Donnie Yen), there has always been a compelling new character in each film to challenge or support John in an interesting way. Laurence Fishburne's Bowery King was one figure of support, and he's more than willing to return for the recently announced John Wick: Chapter 5.

Pretty much every studio was represented this year, with everyone reaffirming the fact that, after a few difficult post-covid years, as well as the lingering effect of the dual WGA/SAG strikes, Hollywood needs to get audiences back in theatres in order to keep the industry going.
Here are a few highlights and takeaways we got from the presentations:
Nobody 2 looks amazing:
While Timo Tjahjanto’s Nobody 2 didn’t get a major presentation, with Bob Odenkirk currently on Broadway starring in Glengarry Glen Ross, we did get to see the film’s first trailer, and it’s killer. While the first movie played on the John Wick formula, the sequel does something unique in that it seems to be an ultra-violent riff on National Lampoon’s Vacation.

Just when we thought John Wick had finally earned a peaceful retirement, or, you know, actually died, John Wick 5 steps into the spotlight, guns blazing and rumors swirling. After Chapter 4 wrapped things up with an emotional punch (and a whole lot of literal ones), fans were left asking, is this really the end? Apparently not!
The franchise that turned Keanu Reeves into a modern-day action god isn’t ready to tap out just yet. Despite the seemingly final moments of the last movie, recent updates hint that Baba Yaga might have one more fight left in him. Whether it’s a prequel, a twist on his fate, or just John crawling out of a shallow grave like the legend he is, excitement for the next chapter is sky-high. With spin-offs,...
