Mark Ruffalo’s breakout role in Kenneth Lonergan’s “You Can Count on Me” almost didn’t happen.

In a Monday interview with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett on their “Smartless” podcast, the “Poor Things” Oscar nominee recalled “literally begging” the celebrated playwright and filmmaker for the role of Terry in the 2000 feature – even though it was initially offered to Ethan Hawke.

Ruffalo had previously worked on Lonergan’s blockbuster Broadway production of “This Is Our Youth” in 1996 with costars Missy Yager and Josh Hamilton, so he had a leg to stand on when demanding an audition with Lonergan for his debut feature film.

Retelling the incident on “Smartless,” Ruffalo said that he was out to lunch in New York City with Lonergan when they ran into Ethan Hawke, who was apparently in the running for the lead role in “You Can Count on Me.” Ruffalo said it...

Matt Damon will join Mark Ruffalo and Missy Yager in a special benefit reading next month of Kenneth Lonergan’s This Is Our Youth, the acclaimed play that premiered Off Broadway in 1996 in a production starring Ruffalo, Yager and Josh Hamilton.

The reading will be directed by Mark Brokaw (How I Learned To Drive), who directed the original staging, on Nov. 16 at Manhattan’s Center at West Park, an Upper West Side arts facility and cultural hub that provides affordable performance, rehearsal, and event space to local artists and community members. Funds raised will benefit the Center.

The event, honoring the Center’s Founding and Current Board President Mim Warden, will kick off the Center’s new Renowned American Playwrights Showcase, a series of readings of acclaimed stage works performed predominantly by their original casts. Upcoming readings will include the works of Tony Kushner, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Suzan-Lori Parks and more.

Anna Paquin is gearing up to welcome not one, but two babies this year, but that doesn't mean her schedule is slowing down too much.

The pregnant "True Blood" star and her HBO co-star and husband, Stephen Moyer, arrived at London's Heathrow Airport in London on July 19, with Paquin's growing baby bump on full display.

The pair announced in April that they were expanding their family, and it was later revealed that twins are on the way for the couple, who married in 2010.

The couple's co-star, Sam Trammell, knows a thing or two about twins, considering he and his girlfriend Missy Yager welcomed twin boys in August 2011.

"It's so interesting that 'True Blood' has become, like, the 'twins' show," Trammell told Us Weekly in June, adding that he's excited for Paquin and Moyer.

The actor, who plays Sam Merlotte in the hit vampire drama, is a first-time dad after his longterm partner Missy Yager delivered twin boys on Tuesday.

A source tells Life & Style magazine, "The couple is very happy that everything went smoothly."

They began dating eight years ago.

"True Blood" star Sam Trammell has officially become a father, if Life & Style can be trusted. Accordingly, the 40-year-old actor, who plays Sam Merlotte on the HBO hit series, and his girlfriend of eight years, Missy Yager, have welcomed their twin boys on Tuesday, August 9.

Speaking of Sam and Missy's reaction about their first sons' birth, a source spilled, "The couple is very happy that everything went smoothly." Though so, details about the newborns, including their weight upon arrival and names, have yet to be disclosed.

"True Blood" hunk Sam Trammell has some baby news to deliver. The actor playing Sam Merlotte on the hit HBO series has through his representative announced that he is going to be a father for the first time as his longtime actress girlfriend, Missy Yager, is pregnant with twins.

Upon confirming the happy news, representative for the "Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem" actor simply told People magazine, "The couple is thrilled and excited." Aside from the fact that the 40-year-old and his girlfriend are expecting twins, no other details including when the babies are due has been shared.

Sam and Missy reportedly met for the first time in New York while performing in theaters, and have been together for eight years. My Own Worst Enemy centers around Henry Spivey (Christian Slater), an everyday businessman with a wife (Madchen Amick) and two kids (Taylor Lautner, and Bella Thorne). Unbeknown to even himself, Henry has another identity as an operative and trained killer named Edward Albright.

In this second persona, he works for a secret spy organization under the supervision of Mavis Heller (Alfre Woodard). He's frequently partnered with Tom Grady/Raymond Carter (Mike O'Malley). Preview of "My Own Worst Enemy" episode 1.06 has been released. It reveals Edward Albright, played by Christian Slater, dealing with his past and national security as an effort in finding the culprit who murdered his parents.

With the title "High Crimes and Turducken", the episode shows Angie bracing herself and preparing for a bad news when her father Archie comes to town for the holidays. Meanwhile, Tom rekindles his strained relationship with his wife Mary Grady over a bourbon cooking session. Plus, Henry Spivey, also played by Slater, gets a birds eye view of Edwards' relationship with Dr. Norah Skinner.
