Beijing, Jan 8 (Ians) Facing supply chain disruptions and weak consumer demand amid Covid surge, China’s smartphone industry is set for a tough 2023 and is not expected to see “meaningful growth until 2024,” a report said on Sunday.
Total smartphone shipments in China is likely to drop 10 per cent in 2022 to 285 million units, according to the industry research firm Idc, reports South China Morning Post.
“The Chinese smartphone market is only expected to see full-year growth in 2024,” according to Will Wong, a Singapore-based Idc analyst.
The country’s smartphone shipments in November nosedived 36 per cent (year on year) to 22.2 million units.
In the first 11 months of 2022, sales were down 23.6 per cent compared to the same period in the previous year, according to a report by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (Caict).

San Francisco, Dec 18 (Ians) Apple iPhone supplier Foxconn has lifted Covid-19 restrictions at its primary iPhone factory in China, which will allow employees to move around again freely.
According to Bloomberg, it means that the company’s “point-to-point” system will be eliminated, which prohibits workers from going between their dorms and the factory campus, reports AppleInsider.
Additionally, Foxconn has reopened its on-site cafeterias and has stopped offering free meals.
From December 16 to December 31, the company will pay regular workers 15 yuan per day but meal expenses will be deducted from their pay.
However, Foxconn will continue to provide Covid patients who choose to stay in accommodations provided by the company with free meals, the report said.
“Foxconn will now need to address the potential increase in sickened staff and a possible shortage of workers,” said Will Wong, senior research manager, International Data Corporation.
“More initiatives will need to be taken to appease staff,...

1.) The stars continue to line up for Winter's Tale, the directorial debut from screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (Cinderella Man, I Am Legend). Matt Bomer (Magic Mike), Lucy Griffiths ("True Blood") and legendary Hitchcock muse Eva Marie Saint (North by Northwest) are the latest to join the already impressive cast. Colin Farrell stars as thief who breaks into a mansion and falls for the dying young woman (Jessica Brown Findlay of "Downton Abbey") living there. That's just one aspect of the film's plot, which also somehow involves a flying white horse and shifts between 19th Century New York and the present day. Bomer and Griffiths will play Farrell's parents, presumably in flashbacks, while William Hurt, Russell Crowe and Will Smith are also on board. Smith and Crowe's roles are believed to be on the small side, as they're taking part as a favor to Goldsman. The film will mark Saint's first on-screen appearance since 2006's Superman Returns.

It turns out that Jim Carrey is a huge fan of the Kick-Ass comic, so there is no doubt he jumped at the chance to star in the sequel when he was offered the role of Colonel Stars, leader of super hero team Justice Forever. Now we have our first look at the actor as the former Mob enforcer turned urban vigalante. And I gotta say, he looks pretty bad-ass. Especially with his masked dog, Sofia. Also captured on film is a better look at Roberts Emm's as Insect-Man, and Lindy Booth as Night-Bitch, two more members of the team. Synopsis: The costumed high-school hero Kick-Ass joins with a group of normal citizens who have been inspired to fight crime in costume. Meanwhile, the Red Mist plots an act of revenge that will affect everyone Kick-Ass knows. Released: 28th June 2013 (U.S.)/ 19th July 2013 (U.K./Irl) Source: Comic Book Movie and Mr.
