"Men are brothers! Women are laundry!"So goes one of the many pearls of wisdom in Hong Kong director Vincent Kok's new romantic comedy, the bizarrely titled Love Is... Pyjamas. It appears from this rather perplexing, if enthusiastic trailer that Ronald Cheng plays a TV relationship guru who imparts pearls of wisdom on his female audience about how to best treat their men. "As clothes", seems to be his advice. Nope, I'm not entirely sure what he means by that either, but no doubt I'll be watching the film when it opens in Hong Kong on 11 October. Cheng stars alongside Teresa Mo, Raymond Lam, Lynn Xiong, Karena Ng, Raymond Wong - and rather unwisely, Ronald Cheng appears in Blackface at one point. No doubt all will be...

I couldn’t believe my eyes when i first seen that Donnie Yen will be returning to the Ip Man series, this time the movie will be shot in 3D. To see this on the big screen in 3D would be amazing, so i’m hoping this will get a world wide release (One can dream i guess).
The news was confirmed by the publicist of Donnie Yen, and as claimed that Donnie is very excited about returning to one of his biggest roles to date. Edmond Wong who is the movies script writer, said we will see Ip Man’s most famous student, the legendary Bruce Lee, play a massive part in the movie, though Ip Man will remain the film’s central character.
“What is certain is that the film will begin with Bruce Lee becoming Ip Man’s disciple. As for who will play Bruce Lee, we...

IP Man 2
Stars: Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, Darren Shahlavi, Huang Xiaming | Action direction by Sammo Hung | Directed by Wilson Yip
Ip Man 2 is the latest DVD release from Cine Asia, and is a semi-biographical martial arts film loosely based on the life of Wing Chun grandmaster, Ip Man. The film was directed by Wilson Yip & Sammo Hung, produced by Raymond Wong, written by Edmond Wong, and stars martial arts legend, Donnie Yen, who reprises the leading role.
This sequel continues on from events in the first Ip Man film, and covers Ip Man’s life in Hong Kong, which was at the time under British colonial rule, and recovering from the Japanese invasion of China. Ip Man’s main hurdles are his reduced circumstances, British oppression, and rivalry from other martial arts practitioners, including the local Hung Ga master Hung Chun-nam, as played by Sammo Hung.
“Continuing from where the first film ended,...

This Saturday, May 29th, the Asian Institute at the University of Toronto and Ultra8 Pictures are hosting a free double bill screening of two classic Hong Kong supernatural comedies on 35mm as part of Asian Heritage Month. Dubbed "Restless Spirits: Ronnie Yu and Ringo Lam's 1980s Ghost Comedies", the films are coming from Tiff Programmer and ActionFest Director Colin Geddes' recent donation of vintage 35mm prints to the University of Toronto that he rescued from closed down Chinatown cinemas and they are in pretty great condition considering their age and the wear and tear of living in cinema basements. This is a rare opportunity to see these films on... well... film.
Taking place at Innis Town Hall, a block south of Bloor on St. George at 2 Sussex Avenue, the screening kicks off this Saturday at 4pm with Ringo Lam's debut film (straight out of York University) Esprit...

Update 12/4
- Just a little update on this. Korean media picked up on this item (crediting it to Twitch and not Chinese media, which is kind of laughable. We're only the messenger, folks) by contacting Song Hye-Gyo's management on the matter, and they promptly denied any involvement. So either they'll get a script under their Xmas tree courtesy of Wong's folks, or it's another chapter in the "Chinese media plays wishful thinking" saga. Guess next in line will be Miller's folks. Oh well. That's what fervid imagination is for.
As reported last September, we're not exactly dealing with a confirmed deal, particularly as none of the major Chinese portals have an entry for the film yet, but Raymond Wong's dream Hk$ 150 million project 急先锋 (Vanguard) is creating more buzz, and going even more insane with potential casting shenanigans. You knew about the possibility of Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa cooperating for this,...
