When Marvel Comics decided to end the marriage of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson-Parker in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man, the response from fans was overwhelmingly negative.
That was in 2007 and opinions remain largely the same. The publisher has teased the possibility of them reuniting (they even dated for a while), but it's become clear that their marriage will never be reinstated. On the plus side, Peter and Mj are married with kids in the pages of Jonathan Hickman's Ultimate Spider-Man!
In today's The Spectacular Spider-Men #3, Peter and Miles Morales find themselves unknowingly trapped in their respective dream worlds.
In the latter's case, that involves dating Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, but Peter's is far more noteworthy. Now married with children, we learn that his dream is to be not with Mary Jane, but Gwen Stacy.

American animated series Young Justice is considered one of the best superhero series ever made. Contrary to its title which suggests that it is an adaptation of Peter David, Todd Dezago, and Todd Nauck’s comic series, the TV series is an original story, set in the DC Universe. It primarily explores the adventures of teenage and young adult superheroes.

Young Justice has easily become one of the most beloved animated superhero series in recent times. The series has an excellent lineup of characters, all of which feel well-thought-out and have extremely interesting stories. It picked whatever aspects of a character’s back story they wanted, choosing from the several versions and sticking with them. If they were unable to find the correct pieces, they made changes, creating the intricate puzzle that is the series.

The perfect example of a significant change they made to an original story is Martian Manhunter and Mars as a planet. Going from a destroyed planet to a lively civilization on the brink of civil war, the change brought about a lot of interesting elements to the story.

Out of all the animated series ever curated by the DC Animated Universe, perhaps none comes as close to perfection and fans’ hearts as Young Justice. A masterpiece, it ruled the hearts of fans worldwide throughout the time it aired. But despite such success, it had to end its run as unexpectedly as ever, leaving fans from all around the globe absolutely devastated.
DC’s Young Justice.
Previously, the reason behind this sudden cancelation was being widely cited as the huge female fanbase the series attracted. However, as it turns out, those rumors were hardly the case in real life, for the real reason was actually “economics,” as showrunner Greg Weisman himself clarified. And when we share this reason with you, you’ll end up hating Mattel even more than ever before.

Swinging onto the scene in 2008, The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series offered a fresh take on the web-slinging hero. Aimed at a slightly older audience than previous shows, the series captured the essence of being a teenager juggling school, friends, family, and the ever-present responsibility of being a superhero.

Marvel’s X-Men ’97 animated superhero series is the talk of the town these days. Another animated series named Young Justice once attracted a fair amount of attention. Developed by Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman, the show’s first two seasons were aired on Cartoon Network. While the third season was aired on DC Universe, the fourth was released on HBO Max.

Being an animated show did not deter Vietti and Weisman from exploring realistic topics. One of the DC heroes in the series even became a symbol of mental health and the showrunners once revealed how it turned out that way.

Young Justice is an animated series that chronicles the adventures of teenage superheroes and sidekicks from DC Comics. Despite its popularity and innovative storytelling, the show was unexpectedly canceled after its first two seasons.
Young Justice Season 4
The reason behind the cancellation was rather unusual. It had nothing to do with the show’s quality or viewership. Young Justice is easily regarded as one of those animated series from DC that fans just can’t get enough of. Encircling the life of several teenage protege superheroes, it delivered the ultimate justice through its perfect portrayal of the young characters. But out of all the teenagers, there was one whose storyline was helmed with utter care.
Young Justice.
This character was none other than the young superhero who was a result of a Human-Motherbox fusion: Halo, aka Violet Harper. In fact, the creators of the animated show wanted to ensure such utter carefulness while delving into Harper’s storyline that they even went so far as to take help from the Muslim Public Affairs Council for the same!

"Young Justice" is one of the best superhero shows ever made. Building on the path carved by the work of Bruce Timm with "Justice League," "Batman: The Animated Series," and more, this animated series draws from every corner of the DC universe, from Jack Kirby's trippy Fourth Wall to Golden Age characters and much more. The show offered episodic storytelling, with most episodes revolving around a specific mission, while also advancing an overarching story with big consequences.
Perhaps the show's biggest achievement is one that we still haven't seen properly replicated in live-action — the idea of legacy. Throughout the current four seasons of "Young Justice" (we still don't know where and if the show fits James Gunn's DC Universe), we see heroes retire and pass on their mantle to new generations who carry on their heroic legacy. We see that with Jason Todd becoming Robin after Dick Grayson became Nightwing,...

"Young Justice" currently sits in limbo after its fourth season wrapped on Max. There's more story to tell, but Warner Bros. hasn't given creator Greg Weisman the greenlight to tell it. But hey, "Young Justice" has come back from worse! Cartoon Network outright canceled the show after season 2 finished airing in 2013.
"Young Justice" has the same premise as "Teen Titans" (soon to be a movie from DC Studios). The sidekicks of DC Comics form their own team. Then, each season skips ahead in time and the show's true design is unveiled. "Young Justice" isn't just a show about the sidekicks, it's Weisman's epic about the entire DC Universe, following heroes and villains as they age and fall, and new ones rise.

Arguably, the most famous fictional planet is Krypton -- the home of Kal-El, aka Clark Kent, aka Superman. We all know the story (though studios seem to think we don't) of how Krypton was destroyed, and how the sole (kind of) survivor was baby Kal-El. But while Krypton gets all the attention, it's not the only desolated former metropolis in the DC Universe.
Another essential part of the DC mythos is Mars, our red neighbor. That is not the case with the acclaimed "Young Justice" animated series, which portrays Mars as having a big, advanced, and very active Martian civilization.

This post contains spoilers for "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."
Spider-Man has almost as long a history in animation as he does in the comic pages where he originated. That's why the "Spider-Verse" films' conceit — placing different Spider-People together and representing them with different styles of animation — is so clever. While the original "Into the Spider-Verse" featured only six Spider-People teaming up, the sequel "Across the Spider-Verse" takes things into overdrive with hundreds of them. This fulfills the promise of a Spider-Verse.
Most of these Spider-People are simple cameos or easter eggs -- they're all going about their day in Miguel O'Hara's (Oscar Isaac) citadel on Earth-928 and the film rarely lingers on them. However, knowledgeable Spider-Fans will spot some stars among the crowd. "Across the Spider-Verse" treats all Spider-Man audiovisual media as part of one big web. "The Clone Wars" cartoon introduced the Togruta padawan who won the hearts of many fans. George Lucas created Ahsoka Tano to give the famed Anakin Skywalker an apprentice, thus kickstarting a game-changing piece of canon outside of his "Star Wars" feature trilogies. Originated and voiced by Ashley Eckstein, the Togruta entered "Star Wars" with a coming-of-age arc that endured across several "Star Wars" cartoons, texts, and now the live-action realm beginning with "The Mandalorian" (portrayed in the flesh by Rosario Dawson).
The upcoming live-action "Ahsoka" series, developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, seems both exciting and daunting for Star Wars fans, since it heralds the live-action iterations of the fan-favorite Spectres of the Ghost crew in the "Star Wars Rebels" cartoon. If you want to (re)familiarize yourself with Ahsoka and her allies, /Film has gathered the necessary textual and illustrated projects you should read before the new show premieres.

"We are defenders of the night. We are Gargoyles!" so begins every episode of the acclaimed '90s cartoon "Gargoyles," which even today feels like a miracle of television. A show with dense lore, complex and mature themes, a serialized story that nevertheless understood the importance of a good standalone episode and simply breathtaking action, "Gargoyles" was and remains like no other show.
Created by Greg Weisman for Disney Television Animation back in 1994, "Gargoyles" follows sentient, humanoid creatures with bat wings who get frozen in stone during the day. They once protected a medieval Scottish castle, until a betrayal killed most of them and froze the rest — who awoke in modern-day Manhattan. The show felt like a fantasy take on the "X-Men," with mythologies from all over influencing its deep lore, including Norse mythology and Arthurian legends, while a healthy dose of Shakesperean influence gave the story gravitas.

We're never going to run out of "Star Wars" galaxy to explore, and we're never going to run out of arguments about which characters are more deserving of the spotlight than others. Most of these fights come out of love for characters we've connected to somehow. It may be a touching story or a weird one, but "Star Wars" is big enough for everyone to share their own tales of what the franchise means to them.
It's fun that we're getting a bunch of new announcements every year again after the long pause between movie arcs. With all these new stories on the way, including the next Cal Kestis game, "Jedi: Survivor," and "The Acolyte" series coming to Disney+, it may feel a little greedy to suggest even more shows or movies we'd like to see. I don't think all of these will happen. Although, in a couple of cases,...

Young Justice Season 4 Episode 18
When we asked Greg Weisman, Executive Producer of Young Justice: Phantoms, if we could expect arcs focusing on Rocket and Nightwing (the last two original cast members of the show yet to have their own arcs), he was coy.
“I think we’ll refer you to the main title,” he told us.
I didn’t expect the response to both to come immediately.
The strongest episode of the season had two big things going for it. It was the most plot-dense episode of the season, and it was a loving homage to 40 years of New Gods lore that is a blast to see on screen.
“Beyond the Grip of the Gods” has three main plot strands. The most revelatory is the start of the payoff to Conner’s ghost journey. We’ve long suspected Phantom Girl phased him into...

Young Justice Season 4 Episode 17
This week’s episode wraps up Aquaman’s arc, and while we get a pretty startling resolution to “Arion’s” story and the unrest in Atlantis, the episode also does a remarkable job of centering Kaldur’s journey over the four seasons (and decade-plus in real world time) of Young Justice’s life. “A big question for this arc is, ‘When is enough enough?’” Young Justice Executive Producer Greg Weisman tells us in an interview. For Kaldur, enough is at the end of months of struggle, on top of a decade of heartbreak and loss as a superhero.
It’s easy not to notice it at first, but each episode in the Atlantis arc is set about a month after the last. This means as we return in “Leviathan Wakes,” Kaldur’s been hunting for Arion’s crown deep in Xebel,...

No writer is currently attached to the project. Charlize Theron, A.J. Dix, Beth Kono, and Andrew Haas of Denver & Delilah Films will executive produce. Warner Bros. Television is the studio.

While the Star Wars Original Trilogy has been explored thoroughly for more than 40 years, the period between the Prequels and the Originals is less well-trodden. Following in The Clone Wars and Rebels‘ footsteps, The Bad Batch takes a deep dive into the rise of the Empire. This means we get to see familiar characters, planets, ships, and technology in a moment of transition, as a Republic becomes something more twisted and sinister in the hands of the Sith.
Unsurprisingly, “Aftermath,” which is directed by Steward Lee, Saul Ruiz, and Nathaniel Villanova, and written by Jennifer Corbett and Dave Filoni, is full of connections and nods to other parts of the Star Wars universe.
Here are all of the Star Wars easter eggs and references we spotted in this episode:

Fan campaigns are everywhere you look these days, and for the most part, they tend to fall on deaf ears. If anything, the Snyder Cut of Justice League seems to be the exception, because unless something drastic changes, we won’t be seeing an Alita: Battle Angel sequel, a second outing for Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo or a fourth season of Daredevil that would have the Marvel Cinematic Universe pick up where Netflix left off. However, that hasn’t stopped supporters of animated series The Spectacular Spider-Man from banding together in an effort to try and revive the show more than a decade after it was pulled from the airwaves after just two seasons and 26 episodes.
Of course, the web-slinging superhero has been the star of countless animated projects over the decades from the classic 1960s version to Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends, which debuted on Disney Junior just recently.

After a huge surge in popularity following the launch of Disney Plus, that saw the show trending on social media and led to calls for a revival that were backed by creator Greg Weisman, the buzz around Gargoyles eventually faded over the next few months. However, a recent wide-ranging interview with Weisman has seen interest in the cult favorite spike once again, as well as offering up some unique insights into the beloved animation.
As well as confirming that Get Out’s Jordan Peele was interested in a live-action adaptation, something Weisman would love to work on with the Academy Award-winning filmmaker, it was also revealed that the O.J. Simpson trial played a huge role in Gargoyles’ cancellation, and that Weisman was unhappy with how the third season turned out.

If you’re a ’90s kid, chances are you’re pretty familiar with Gargoyles, the animated series jam-packed with fantasy, rich characters, and a sprawling world.
Had things panned out differently, Gargoyles would have been the centerpiece of an entire Disney universe, as revealed by Polygon. But history tells us that the cult animated series ended its run in 1997 after just three seasons. Thank the heavens, then, that it’s available to stream right now on Disney+, prompting Polygon to catch up with series creator Greg Weisman for a deep-dive interview into Gargoyles, O.J. Simpson, and that less-than-stellar third season.
Speaking of which, if the opportunity presented itself, Weisman would want to go back and redo the entire third season of Gargoyles, believing it to be the weakest of the three.

Animated dark fantasy Gargoyles is a fond memory of many children of the ‘90s (this one included), with many more people discovering the series after its addition to Disney+. The combination of several separate issues led to the show’s initial cancellation and subsequent pickup by ABC for a much-maligned third season, but one curious aspect was O. J. Simpson.
After the success of both the show’s 13-episode first season and the accompanying toy line, Disney wanted as much of the series as possible, with the episode count ballooning into a whopping 52 for the second run and a new episode planned to air five times a week. Despite boasting the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, The Simpsons, Pixar and the majority of the studio’s extensive back catalogue of live-action and animated favorites, Gargoyles somewhat surprisingly turned out to be one of Disney Plus’ most popular titles when the Mouse House first launched their streaming service.
The show has remained a cult favorite with a loyal following ever since it was initially canceled after 78 episodes back in 1997, but the recent resurgence in popularity has fueled speculation about a possible revival, either with new episodes to continue the story of the original animation or a live-action version that would either be released theatrically or become a Disney Plus exclusive.
There’ve been several attempts to resurrect Gargoyles over the years, with Get Out and Us writer/director Jordan Peele pitching Disney an idea for a movie back in 2018. While that ultimately came to nothing, in a recent interview,...

Thanks to Disney Plus, where all of the episodes are available in their uncensored form as originally intended, Gargoyles has been enjoying a huge resurgence in popularity. Despite the Mouse House’s streaming platform boasting the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Pixar, Star Wars, The Simpsons and their entire back catalogue of animated classics, Gargoyles was one of the first things to find itself trending when the service went live as both old and new fans flocked to the 78-episode series in their droves.
This led to creator Greg Weisman launching a Twitter campaign to try and gain momentum behind a possible revival, and while there’s been very little news on the Gargoyles front since then, star Keith David has also voiced his approval about the title characters being resurrected in some fashion. There’ve been whispers that a live-action reboot was in the early stages of development, but things seem...

According to sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who told us Disney is developing a live-action Robin Hood remake and Han is returning to the Fast & Furious series – Netflix is busy working on a film based on the popular trading card game Magic: The Gathering, and they’re looking at Angelina Jolie to lead the project as Liliana Vess.
More than just a card, Liliana is a ‘human planeswalker’ – one of the most powerful beings in the universe according to Magic: The Gathering lore – as well as a master necromancer. Her story has been thoroughly explored in War of the Spark: Forsaken as well, a novel based on the game written by Greg Weisman, which Netflix will presumably be using as the blueprint for their own adaptation.
Though she’s not locked in just yet and there are other actresses being eyed, too, Jolie seems like a pretty good casting choice for Liliana.

Young Justice has two overlapping, somewhat rabid, fan followings. First, there are those who delighted in Peter David’s energetic take on the young adult team, which led to the animated series on Cartoon Network.
In the hands of former DC assistant editor Greg Weisman, Young Justice developed a very unique voice of its own, carving an animated continuity all to itself, enjoying two seasons on cable before vanishing. Weisman, Brandon Vietti, and their team were rehired by DC Universe to produce a 26-episode third season, dubbed Young Justice: Outsiders, which aired in two sections throughout 2019.
The entire season is now a four-disc Blu-ray set from Warner Archive so if you don’t want to spend for the service, you can see what you’ve missed. We pick up some two years after season two and Meta-human trafficking is rampant, with the people turned into WMDs. Meanwhile, the Un in...

If the war drums and choral harmonizing in its intro don’t get your blood pumping, surely Keith David’s deep, triumphant voice-over will: “We are defenders of the night. We are Gargoyles!” A new generation with Disney+ access can now experience the dense lore and breathtaking action of Gargoyles, a cartoon created by Greg Weisman for […]

The recent launch of Disney Plus has given fans access to a huge array of content from the Mouse House’s back catalogue, and despite the presence of the overwhelming majority of the studio’s animated classics and plenty of brand new content alongside heavy hitters like The Simpsons, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars and Pixar, one of the streaming service’s most popular titles has been a cult animated series that only ran for 78 episodes between 1994 and 1997.
Gargoyles is remembered fondly by fans as one of the best cartoons of the era, and thanks to Disney Plus, a whole new generation are set to discover the show. Following the titular characters as they became the nocturnal protectors of New York City after spending a thousand years encased in stone, the Shakespearean-inspired narratives and surprisingly complex themes have seen the series gain a second life as an enduring favorite.

Never Surrender: A Galaxy Quest Documentary, Magic: The Gathering, Klaus, and more in today's daily Link Tank!
Here's how biologically inspired A.I. could overcome the world's strictest internet censorship.
"Countries like China, Iran and Russia are known for strictly censoring what their citizens can see on the internet. These authoritarian governments do this to control their people and protect those in power. It can be very difficult, and often dangerous, to try to get around this, but a new tool looks like it could be the best way to beat censorship in these kinds of oppressive countries."

Fans of Magic: The Gathering are calling out the biphobic writing in War of the Spark: Forsaken.
"War of the Spark: Forsaken has been panned very thoroughly by Magic: The Gathering fans. The book, written by Greg Weisman (that Greg Weisman) has been lambasted for its disappointing prose,...
