When producer Jeff Waxman requires military hardware and tactical gear for his movies, he calls Adam and Cat Stone, a long-married couple operating out of the Manhattan Beach home they share with their three kids. In recent years, they’ve secured body armor and motorcycles for John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, as well as a C-130 military transport plane and an air base for Don’t Look Up. For Waxman’s still-to-be-slated feature Our Man From Jersey, a spy thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry, the pair was tasked with delivering Range Rovers in both left-hand and right-hand drive on deadline for action sequences in multiple international territories. “It’s always a mess when I’m not dealing with them,” the producer says.

Netflix’s “Our Man From Jersey,” starring Halle Berry, Mark Wahlberg and J.K. Simmons, is coming close to wrapping its shoot in Croatia and Slovenia, according to Film New Europe.
The film, based on a screenplay by David Guggenheim and Joe Barton, has been described as a “blue-collar James Bond.” Wahlberg plays a down-to-earth construction worker from Jersey, who is thrust into the world of super spies and secret agents when his high-school ex-girlfriend Roxanne (Berry) recruits him on a high-stakes U.S. intelligence mission.
It is directed by Julian Farino, and produced by the U.S.’s Closest to the Hole Productions, owned by Wahlberg. The producers are Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson and Jeff Waxman.
The producers have applied for Croatia’s 25 cash rebate under the working title “The Union,” so the Croatian Audiovisual Center could only confirm a project of such a name was filmed in the country during September.

With his Netflix satire Don’t Look Up, writer-director Adam McKay looked to address “the largest issue in the history of mankind”—that being the climate crisis, and the way people tend to either deny it is happening or refuse to acknowledge its “urgent and terrifying” weight.
While the subject at the heart of the film was incredibly serious, he said he wanted it to juxtapose “the terror of the reality” with “the absurd comedy” of misinformation.

“It’s almost like an old Marx Brothers movie or Three Stooges, where clearly there are mice loose at the opera premiere, but they’ve got to cover

The first trailer for “Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins” debuted Sunday night during the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Starring Henry Golding and Samara Weaving, the “G.I. Joe” spinoff is set for a theatrical release on July 23.
Golding plays the titular character, a ninja commando who wields a deadly katana blade, wears all-black, hides his face behind a mask and doesn’t speak. Though don’t worry — the film, which explores the origins of the mysterious Snake Eyes, allows Golding to talk.
Weaving plays Scarlett, an original member of the “G.I. Joe” team with whom Snake Eyes has a special relationship.
“I wanted to see something different, and I wanted it to look different, to feel different,” Golding said. “To be able to launch a franchise like that, it was just too good to be true — and especially with a character like Snake Eyes about whom a lot of people don’t know too much.

Welcome to another horror news round-up! This time around, we have an update on whether or not Luke Evans will play Eric Draven in The Crow reboot, details on the recently announced horror film, The Greasy Strangler, and a clip, poster, and images of Bruce McDonald’s Halloween-set Hellions, making its debut this Sunday night at the Sundance Film Festival.

For the second consecutive year, Warner Bros. Pictures International has exceeded the coveted $3 billion mark at the international box office. This benchmark comes on the heels of the release of The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, which surpassed $400 million at the international box office this weekend and is still going strong.
Nine Warner Bros. Pictures films have exceeded $100 million internationally, topped by Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (with Paramount Pictures), which has taken in an astounding $467 million outside of the U.S. to date, and Godzilla (with Legendary Pictures), which has earned $327 million overseas.
Four titles – Doug Liman’s Edge Of Tomorrow (with Village Roadshow Pictures), Phil Lord & Christopher Miller’s The Lego Movie (also with Village Roadshow Pictures), and Noam Murro and Zack Snyder’s 300: Rise Of An Empire (with Legendary), along with the 2014 spillover grosses from The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug...

The rebooted version of 1994 comic book classic, The Crow, has found a new director. The previously-attached F. Javier Gutiérrez has bowed out, and relative newcomer Corin Hardy will take the reins on the gothic revenge actioner.
Per Deadline, Hardy’s name was suggested to Edward R. Pressman – who produced the original and is tackling the same role for the remake – by none other than Edgar Wright. A self-confessed fanboy, Wright was impressed by Hardy’s first short, Butterfly, and the edgy music videos he crafted for Ed Sheeran, Biffy Clyro, Keane, Paolo Nutini and The Prodigy, and recommended him for the gig. Hardy’s feature debut, The Hallow, traces the story of family who move to the rural confines of countryside and wind up fighting a load of creatures in the woods. It’s yet to be released, but will hopefully land a date for 2015.

Dealing with unbearable pain from an unspeakable loss, 1994’s The Crow still leaves an indelible mark on viewers with its foreboding atmosphere, haunting soundtrack, and tremendous final performance by the late Brandon Lee. A reboot of The Crow has been in development for years and though its news front has been quiet for some time, it’s just been revealed that a new director has been lined up to take the reboot’s reigns.
Deadline reports that the folks at Relativity Studios have set their sights on Corin Hardy to helm The Crow reboot. F. Javier Gutiérrez was previously going to direct the long-gestating remake, but instead opted to take on the third movie in The Ring series. The Crow reboot is scheduled to begin production in the spring. Hardy will direct off a screenplay by Cliff Dorfman and Gutierrez will stay involved as an executive producer. Dracula Untold and...

Relativity Media has just released the official trailer and poster for their upcoming awards bait, "Out of the Furnace," from writer/director Scott Cooper ("Crazy Heart"). The film has an Oscar caliber cast including Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, Zoë Saldana and Sam Shepard. The trailer is enticing (see below).
Here's the official summary from Relativity:
Russell Baze (Christian Bale) works a dead-end job at the local steel mill, as his terminally ill father did before him. When Russell.s brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) returns home from serving time in Iraq, he gets lured into one of the most ruthless crime rings in the Northeast and mysteriously disappears. The police fail to crack the case, so - with nothing left to lose - Russell takes matters into his own hands, putting his life on the line to seek justice for his brother. Sometimes your battles choose you.

The drama Out of the Furnace seems like a hot commodity right now. It sports a stellar cast that includes Christian Bale and Casey Affleck in the lead roles, and Zoe Saldana, Willem Dafoe and Woody Harrelson in the supporting cast, as well as backing from celebrity production companies like Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way and Ridely Scott’s Scott Free. The film is currently being shot in western Pa, and on Sunday, executive producer Jeff Waxman, producer/production coordinator Julie Hartley, and various crew members spoke at a Pa Film Industry Association meeting in Pittsburgh, giving some insight to the project. We were there and one can see details below.
During the talk, Waxman repeatedly compared the film to The Fighter, which also featured Bale in an Oscar-winning performance. In past reports, Furnace was said to have a “No Country For Old Men vibe,” so this new development changes some expectations.

Unfortunately, despite taking its opening weekend, Tarsem Singh's Immortals seems likely to go as under-appreciated as his masterpiece, The Fall. Whether or not it manages to hold onto a solid fanbase, as is the case with the quite similar 300, remains to be seen, but critics have not taken to the film generally.
Usually, the overall consensus of critics at large is something that I'm only accidentally aware of at all, and the fact that moviegoers rate a film in the polar opposite direction simply the natural course of events, but in this case I find it rather perplexing. I say that because the film is so brilliant in so many ways, and at the same time so convoluted and disinterested in explaining itself that you would think the action-adventure would hardly make up for it to Mr. and Mrs. 18-35 year old American. No offense.

After seeing the trailer (and left very impressed) for Universal's take on Snow White - Snow White and the Huntstman; a much darker, action-thriller-like approach, I must say I was left equally charmed by the trailr for Mirror Mirror; a warmer, romantic comedy/adventure-inclined take.
