“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads” – Doc Brown
Last week, La’s Petersen Automotive Museum kicked off it’s “Back To The Future Month” with a couple of really cool events that were held to celebrate and welcome to its new permanent home, the DeLorean Time Machine picture car from the iconic and beloved 80’s film Back To The Future.
On Wednesday, April 20th, the newly restored 1981 Delorean that was originally transformed into cinema’s most famous time machine was unveiled at its new home at the Petersen. For years, the car was displayed at Universal Studios Hollywood outside the Back to The Future attraction, and later relegated to the prop junkyard. Needless to say, the elements were not kind and the car sat there, rusty and broken, at the mercy of souvenir hunters and fans wanting photos.
Along with the unveiling was a panel discussion...

There exists an alternate universe where the DeLorean from Back to the Future is housed in the Smithsonian Institution. There also exists a much darker alternate universe where the DeLorean is a heap of rusted metal in a junkyard. Fortunately for fans on this timeline, the DeLorean is safe and shiny in its new home in in Los Angeles. The Hero “A” car (the primary car used in the production of the Back to the Future trilogy) seemed bound for the wrecking yard after years sitting outside, at the mercy of the elements, on the Universal Studios lot alongside the tram tour route. Now, after over a year of restoration work, it’s back to its former glory, looking just like it did when it rolled off of Doc Brown’s truck. After briefly being on display in a glass box (indoors) at Universal, then being put into storage at...

After over a year of restoration work the original DeLorean from the classic Back to the Future film has been restored to all its awesome glory! The car is now currently on display at Universal Studios Hollywood.
This car is actually one of three models used during filming. It was called "Hero A" and was used predominantly for shots with the actors themselves. The other two cars were used for stunts and close interior shots. The restored car's front flux bands have been replaced, but they were able to use mostly original materials.
Project leader Joe Walser had this to say in an interview with Bttf.com,
When you're building a replica, you can decide how forgiving you want to be, but to do it right, to truly nail it... to hold every piece to the highest level of accuracy achievable — well, that's the real trick, and it took the...

When most people think of Back to the Future, they think of the famous Dmc-12 DeLorean time machine. However, it's not the kind of vehicle Marty thinks is "stylish". He would prefer his 4x4 Toyota truck. However, after the filming of Back to the Future Part III, the Toyota itself was almost lost to the ravages of time.
That's where two diehard Bttf fans come in. Joe Walser and Terry Matalas of Time Machine Restoration (a vehicular restoration group specializing in Bttf-style DeLoreans) managed to locate the truck in Southern California. Apparently, after filming, the truck was stolen from Universal and recovered by Mexican federales! The guys found an autograph written to the original owner of the truck by Michael J. Fox himself, "Many thanks! See you on something else I'm sure. Michael J. Fox". This truck is the only screen-used Bttf truck available.
It's cool these guys were able...
