This Is Why Rockstar Doesn’t Like to Cast Famous Actors in GTA After Jason Sudeikis and Samuel L. Jackson’s Casting
Image
Remember when Ray Liotta’s unmistakable voice brought Tommy Vercetti to life in GTA: Vice City? Or when Samuel L. Jackson’s commanding presence made Officer Tenpenny one of gaming’s most memorable villains? Those star-studded days of Rockstar’s casting approach seem like ancient history now.

The gaming powerhouse once packed its titles with Hollywood heavyweights, but somewhere along the way, they deliberately changed course. This shift wasn’t just a budget decision—it came from frustrating experiences that shaped how Rockstar approaches storytelling in their virtual worlds.

Why Rockstar abandoned Hollywood talent

Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser didn’t mince words when explaining why the studio moved away from celebrity voice actors. In a revealing Vulture interview from October 2018, he laid bare the challenges of working with big names:

I don’t want to speak ill of the dead, poor bugger, but we don’t bring in name...

"Michael's Boat" Possibly Spotted In GTA 6 Trailer
Image
Fans think they may have spotted a prized possession of GTA 5 lead character Michael in the new Grand Theft Auto 6trailer. Fans have been intensely dissecting virtually every frame of the GTA 6 Trailer 2, which gave us larger looks at dual protagonists Jason and Lucia, the side characters they will interact with, and some GTA-style action set pieces. Fans are taking a deep look at some of the smaller details of the impressive trailer, and a new GTA 5 Easter egg has possibly been discovered.

In a Reddit post by Professional_Fix_565, the user posted comparison shots of Michael's boat from GTA 5 and what could possibly be the same boat near the beginning of the GTA 6 Trailer 2, and the boats definitely look similar. The boat in question is a medium-sized boat, featuring blue stripes. In GTA 5, players went on a mission to recover it after it had been sold by Michael's son without his permission.

“I think it would be a better movie maybe”: Despite Rockstar’s Stance, Michael Voice Actor Believes a GTA Live-Action Movie Would Be the Way to Go
Image
Live-action adaptations of video games have always had a reputation for being bad. But things have changed in the last few years with successful projects like Arcane, Fallout, and The Last of Us proving that it’s no longer the case. Is it time for an adaptation of Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto (GTA) adaptation? Would it work better as a series or movie?

The actor has some good points regarding an adaptation. | Image Credit: Fall Damage on YouTube

We’re shifting towards an industry that is willing to take on more adaptations so it’s definitely possible. Recently, Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA V, weighed in on the debate and said that a movie would be a better fit than a TV series. But would he come back as Michael in real life? Who would Rockstar cast?

The former GTA cast member thinks a...

Lindsay Lohan’s GTA Lawsuit: Why She Took Rockstar Games To Court Over A Grand Theft Auto V Character
Image
Lindsay Lohan’s GTA Lawsuit ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Lindsay Lohan once took Rockstar Games to court, convinced they had ripped her off in Grand Theft Auto V. The lawsuit? She claimed the game’s character, Lacey Jonas—a Hollywood actress dodging the paparazzi—was basically her in digital form.

Her legal team argued that she didn’t just inspire Jonas but was a full-on copy, right down to a 2007 paparazzi shot of Lohan that supposedly matched the character’s look. But Rockstar wasn’t having it. Rockstar shut it down fast, and Take-Two Interactive (their parent company) even claimed Lohan was looking for publicity.

The court didn’t waste time either. Judges ruled that GTA V was pure fiction and satire—meaning no, Lindsay, they didn’t steal your likeness.

Ben Affleck Is Tommy Vercetti in GTA: Vice City Concept Trailer
Image
A concept trailer is making the case for Ben Affleck to star in a live-action movie based on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Late actor Ray Liotta is also featured in the faux trailer.

Shared on YouTube by Multiverse of Movies, the GTA: Vice City concept trailer was created with the use of AI-generated imagery. To be clear, there are no known plans at this time for a GTA movie to be made, though fan-made trailers like this one imagine how one might look. Affleck's imagined casting as the video game's playable character, Tommy Vercetti, pitches a faithful adaptation with the actor sporting a look that's very reminiscent of the original character. The full trailer can be seen below.

Image
Black Myth Wukong is now available for the gaming community to purchase on the PlayStation 5 and PC digital storefronts. The game is selling well despite being made by an independent game developer, and amidst the fierce competition, it proves that there is a market for single-player games in a gaming industry oversaturated with competitive online multiplayer titles. Recent reports suggest the game already made more than the development cost a few weeks after release which is an outstanding achievement.

Canceled GTA 5 Dlc Robbed Us Of “James Bond Trevor”
Image
Story Dlc for GTA 5 was canceled, including an Agent Trevor arc involving espionage and space missions. Fans were disappointed by the cancelation of three planned single-player DLCs, which also included fighting zombies and aliens. Despite the success of GTA Online, players were hoping for more single-player content with the original trio of protagonists.

Story details for Grand Theft Auto 5's canceled story Dlc have emerged, and it sounds like it would have leaned into the espionage genre with perhaps the last character anyone would have expected: Trevor. It has long been known that single-player story Dlc for the game was in the works, much like GTA 4's The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, and Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare before it, but with the monumental success of GTA Online, which launched a month after GTA 5 and made over $500 million in microtransactions alone by 2016, and...

GTA 6's Most Popular Jason Theory Officially Debunked
Image
Troy Baker denies playing Jason in GTA VI, insisting credit should go to the actual voice actor. Fans speculate William Popp may be the voice behind Jason, pointing to their deleted Instagram. The GTA community is efficient at uncovering voice actors.

While Rockstar may still be keeping its cards close to its chest regarding Grand Theft Auto VI, one actor wants to set the record straight on whether he's in the game or not. Dropping in late 2023, the official teaser trailer for the next entry in the ever-popular GTA franchise took the world by storm, answering many questions while still leaving room for the community to speculate. One source of confusion is who is playing the two protagonists and while no performers have been announced just yet, one theory has officially been debunked.

Speaking on The Movie Dweeb, veteran voice actor Troy Baker extinguished rumors that he's playing the unnamed...

GTA 5's Michael De Santa Teases His Return For GTA 6
Image
Ned Luke's cryptic response to a fan's question about Michael's appearance in GTA 6 suggests that he may be involved in the game. Luke's tweet could be a nod to the Wanted system in GTA games, and hint at Michael's cover being blown. Michael could appear as a quest giver in a series of movie-related missions.

Ned Luke, the voice actor who plays Michael De Santa in Grand Theft Auto 5, has dropped hints that suggest his character will make an appearance in Grand Theft Auto 6. Little is known so far about the next GTA, which is expected to have its first trailer in December 2023. However, leaks and wild rumors about GTA 6 have been mounting for a decade. Very few of them are verifiable, but the few reliable leaks do provide an idea of what to expect. Ned Luke's response is too cryptic to be called a leak, but as an...

Grand Theft Auto V: Michael's 10 Funniest Quotes
Image
Michael De Santa has some of the funniest quotes and most sarcastic lines of dialogue in Grand Theft Auto V, making his franchise debut in the game a truly memorable affair. Rock Star Games gave Michael, One of the three main protagonists in GTA V, the most interesting characterization and nuanced shading. He's a sardonic, retired bank robber whose life in the Witness Protection Program cannot provide the satisfaction he found in a life of crime.

Whereas Franklin is defined by his coolness and Trevor by his devil-may-care attitude, Michael's rage-fueled sarcasm and incredibly short temper lead to the funniest moments in the game, be it while insulting his criminal cohorts, evading police, playing tennis, doing yoga, and more ridiculous scenarios in Grand Theft Auto V.

"You... Are A Hipster! I Hate Hipsters." Michael Tells Trevor How He Feels About Him

By the early 2010s, America had been oversaturated with...

Grand Theft Auto Movie Reportedly In Development
Image
At this rate, it looks as if a movie based on Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto is likely to become a reality before the video game series’ long-awaited sixth installment ever materializes. Having just recently celebrated its seventh birthday, GTA V continues to make money hand over fist for the title’s aforementioned creator and publisher Take-Two, not just with game sales (which somehow keep on topping the charts) but with microtransactions available in its online component.

Fans in their millions still make regular day trips to Los Santos in order to mingle with other like-minded players and partake in the mode’s cornerstone Heist content, all with the ultimate goal of making green to spend on digital life luxuries. With even more updates due to arrive before 2020 comes to an end, then, you’d be forgiven for thinking Rockstar’s priorities still very much lie with supporting GTA Online instead of delivering a sequel.

Rockstar Had To Remove More Than 15,000 N-Words From Grand Theft Auto V
Rockstar isn’t exactly known for the use of subtlety in its games. Both of the developer’s flagship properties, Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto, go in heavy on their overt satire of American culture but, in Grand Theft Auto V‘s case especially, the unabashed studio decided to take a step back and reconsider.

While at McM Comic Con in London, voice actors Ned Luke (Michael), Shawn Fonteno (Franklin) and Steven Ogg (Trevor) collectively hosted a panel in order to answer the attending crowd’s burning questions. As part of the Q&a, Fonteno revealed that Rockstar, in editing his recordings, had to remove over 15,000 instances of the word “N***a” being used. Fans who have spent endless hours touring Los Santos will be well aware that the word remains present in-game, of course, but Fonteno notes that Rockstar’s edits were simply a result of his...

Grand Theft Auto V Actor Sullies Hopes For Single-Player Dlc
Voice actor for Grand Theft Auto V‘s Michael De Santa, Ned Luke, has come out and said he has no knowledge of any supposed Dlc for the title. In a statement released on the actor’s own Facebook page, Luke made pretty clear through his use of a bold font that he’s unaware of any potential story Dlc for Rockstar’s epic.

Everybody wants single player Dlc… I know Nothing about that. Don’t know when it’s gonna happen or even If it’s gonna happen.

At this point, it probably feels like the rumour of story content of GTA V is never-ending, but the prospect of such a thing had dyed down until very recently after Rockstar ruled out such content by stating all of their staff had been moved over to work on Grand Theft Auto Online. However, a picture posted to Instagram by the...

Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One) Review
When Grand Theft Auto V first launched in September 2013, I had originally planned on picking it up right away. After all, I had been a fan of the series since 2001, and it had been 5 years since we’d seen a proper entry. As the months went on, though, I, like many others, began to think about the possibility of the title coming to the recently released Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It made sense, as plenty of publishers do the same thing, and Rockstar Games has ported previous entries in the series over to several different platforms in the past.

So, I waited. And waited, and waited, and waited for Rockstar Games to announce something. Rumors popped up for months, but it wasn’t until E3 2014 that we got an official confirmation that the title would be coming to current-gen platforms, as well as PC. Now, after 428 days of waiting, I...

Grand Theft Auto V Psn Download Error Fixed, Rockstar Still Working Out Social Club Issues
Grand Theft Auto V is now out in the wild and hopefully, most gamers have already sunk their teeth into it. Personally, while I’ve only completed 10% of the game so far, I’m loving every minute of it. Unfortunately, not everyone is having as positive an experience with the game as I am though.

Yesterday, PS3 owners were reporting issues with installing the digital version of the game. Apparently, some gamers were receiving an error code when trying to install. Sometimes it would pop up after having already waited several hours for the game to download.

Sony has now confirmed that this issue has been resolved:

“For those of you experiencing error code 80029564 when downloading or installing GTA V please accept our apologies,” a statement read. “This is been worked on as a high priority and we hope to have it resolved this afternoon. “Please delete any GTA content...

GTA V Protagonist Revealed In New Screenshots
Yesterday, Rockstar released three new GTA V screenshots. Not only did this make about 80% of gamer’s Monday worthwhile getting up for, but it also hints at some interesting nuggets of new info about the protagonist of the game. Rumours have been circulating about GTA V having multiple protagonists. Many were quick to call Bs on this “leak”, myself included, but the new screens seem to hint at that.

In the new three screen shots, two characters are obviously highlighted. An African-American male, and a man in a suit very much resembling the “Ned Luke” character.

First, we’ll look over the shot above. The man on the bike is obviously dark skinned. It is highly possible that he is a random civilian, but the absense of any other Npc’s is a bit odd. If this man is The protagonist, then many players were wrong is assuming Ned Luke is the main character.
