Oscar winner Mira Sorvino is looking to revive one of her most beloved past roles with a sequel film almost three decades later.
Sorvino confirmed that the highly-anticipated follow-up to “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” is officially in the works, telling Us Weekly that both she and costar Lisa Kudrow will executive produce the sequel. Screenwriter Robin Schiff, who penned the 1988 play “Ladies Room” on which the 1997 movie is based on, will also return.
“She’s currently working on ‘Emily in Paris,’ so she’s finishing up her draft to present to the studio,” Sorvino said of Schiff’s sequel script. “Lisa [Kudrow] and I are wrapping up our deals as executive producers on it with the studio. We’re full force ahead.”

Mira Sorvino is giving an update on the Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion sequel that is in the works.
In a recent interview, the Oscar winner revealed that Robin Schiff is returning to write the follow-up movie, but her work on a Netflix series is keeping her from finishing the script.
“She’s currently working on Emily in Paris, so she’s finishing up her draft to present to the studio,” Sorvino told Us magazine in an interview. “Lisa [Kudrow] and I are wrapping up our deals as executive producers on it with the studio. We’re full force ahead.”
Sorvino and Kudrow starred in the 1997 comedy directed by David Mirkin from a screenplay by Schiff based on the 1988 stage play Ladies Room. The film revolves around the titular characters returning to high school to impress their former classmates, making up fake careers by saying they invented Post-its.

Exclusive: Animated drama series Pantheon, which stars the voices of Daniel Dae Kim, Paul Dano and Taylor Schilling, is the latest series to be scrapped at AMC Networks.
The series has been canceled after one season, despite a two-season order, and pulled from AMC’s streaming service as part of the company’s cost-cutting drive. The second season, which had been produced, will not air.
Pantheon joins shows such as Demascus, Invitation to a Bonfire and the second seasons of 61st Street and Moonhaven, which were all axed as part of a one-time tax write-down at the end of last year.
This write-down features around 400M of content and was revealed in an SEC filing in December.
“As a result of the Plan, the programming assessments pertain to a broad mix of owned and licensed content, including legacy television series and films that will no longer be in active rotation...

Even though he was a regular on five series, the role actor Vincent Ventresca is best known for is Fun Bobby on NBC’s hit sitcom Friends.
For two episodes.
That were a season apart.
And more than 27 years ago at that.
“More people saw those two episodes than anything else I’ve done. It’s a show that just keeps going, finding a new format; it’s being introduced to a whole new generation. That show became its own thing, its own world. It was a funny bit on a show that everybody saw. It’s rerunning all the time,” said Ventresca, 56, who lives in Los Angeles with Dianne, his wife of 27 years, with whom he has two children.

Let’s be clear: Romy and Michele’s Highschool Reunion is a modern masterpiece and is a brilliant feminist subversion of rom-com tropes from start to finish. Anyone who wants to hear why my favorite film is absolute perfection is welcome to pop round mine any time they like and we can stick it on.
One of the most fascinating elements, though, is the extended dream sequence which falls in the middle of the film as serves as a bit of surrealist comedy, a hinge point building up to the third act denouement of the reunion itself but also as a clever moment which hammers home the point of what this movie is, and crucially, what it is not.
To recap, Romy (Mira Sorvino) and Michele (Lisa Kudrow) are on their way to Sagebrush High and get into a fight, ostensibly over Post-its and who is the “Mary” and who...

Many times, things aren't what they seem to be.
That was certainly the case on Criminal Minds Season 15 Episode 5.
What appeared to be a copycat serial killing took a bizarre turn in which two agents were targeted for their actions before they even became members of the Bau.
So instead of the return of an old Criminal Minds killer, it featured an unsub that most of the squad didn't even know existed.
With so few episodes this final season, does that represent a missed opportunity, injecting a new villain rather than bringing back an old favorite?
When it's this well done, I don't think so. This season doesn't have to be just the greatest hits. There's room for new songs as well.
In this case (double meaning intentional), the Bau's little Band of Brothers were in the spotlight.
Yes, with such a large cast, it's hard to highlight every character...

So no one told you that they were gonna feel this way... Remember Fun Bobby on Friends? What about Rachel's ex Barry? And her Italian boyfriend Paolo? The U.K. newspaper The Guardian caught up with the actors who played these and other minor yet memorable characters on Friends, which aired for 10 seasons until 2004...and is now probably your go-to on Netflix. Fun Bobby: Vincent Ventresca played the character, Monica's on-again, off-again boyfriend, and we discovered in season two that Fun Bobby is only fun when he drinks, and he drinks a lot. "I was starstruck by David Schwimmer (Ross)," the actor told The Guardian. "Of course, the girls were incredible and...

Sports as metaphor and conduit for personal change is not a new thing in cinema, but it's not too often we see tennis courts used for this thematic backdrop, nor for the setting of a comedy. But "Break Point" just does that. And after spending some time on the festival circuit last year, including a debut at SXSW, the movie is now headed to theaters and a new trailer has arrived. TV comedy veteran Jay Karas directs Jeremy Sisto, David Walton, Joshua Rush, J.K. Simmons, Amy Smart, Vincent Ventresca and Adam Devine in this film about a fading tennis champ who teams up with estranged brother for one last run at glory. Here's the official synopsis: Jimmy Price is a reckless man-child on the last leg of his career as a doubles tennis player. When his latest partner drops him, he realizes he’s officially burned all of his bridges on the pro circuit.

"You have nothing to lose!" Broad Green Pictures has debuted the official trailer for Break Point, a tennis comedy not to be confused with Point Break, the remake due in theaters this December (which looks just awful). Break Point is a totally different kind of film starring J.K. Simmons as well as Jeremy Sisto, David Walton, Amy Smart, Joshua Rush, Vincent Ventresca, Chris Parnell, Adam Devine. The film is about estranged brothers who team up to take on a tennis grand slam tournament, with their family in tow. It doesn't look half bad, another sports triumph family comedy that has its sweet moments. Enjoy! Here's the first official trailer for Jay Karas' comedy Break Point, in high def from Apple: Jimmy Price is a reckless man-child on the last leg of his career as a doubles tennis player. What does it take to be a good partner? Openness, communication, an active interest in what's important to the person you're with. It's good advice for your love life, but as Jeremy Sisto finds out in "Break Point," those tips work well on the tennis court too. Director Jay Karas, who has logged time behind the camera on "Workaholics," "Parks & Recreation," "Raising Hope" and "After Lately," makes his feature debut here rounding up a pretty solid ensemble including David Walton, Joshua Rush, J.K. Simmons, Amy Smart, Adam DeVine, Chris Parnell, Vincent Ventresca, Cy Amundson and Jenny Wade. Co-written by and starring Sisto, the story follows a former tennis pro that has burned his bridges, who makes one last swing at the big time, and rounds up his estranged brother to once again join him on the court. And in this exclusive clip, we see both how far they've been apart,...

This weekend while Disney is hoping you’ll flock in droves to see Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, Syfy will be premiering a new Oz-inspired creature feature that I suspect Sam Raimi would approve of: Flying Monkeys!
Robert Rodriguez’s niece-in-law Electra Avellan (aka one of the babysitter twins from Grindhouse), TV’s “The Invisible Man” Vincent Ventresca, and actor stuntman Alvin Chon star in the Syfy Original Movie about a teenage girl living in Gale, Kansas, who gets a new pet monkey that turns out to be an evil, flying shapeshifter.
Visual effects supervisor Robert Grasmere makes his directorial debut with this new spin on the creatures made famous as the Wicked Witch of the West’s henchmonsters. What, if anything, this Syfy flick has to do with the Land of Oz outside of mean monkeys with wings remains to be seen.

A couple make small talk at dinner, interspersed with flashes of what is about to befall them. Their home is invaded and the husband is killed presumably during the attack. It was apparent their marriage is over. Flack (Eddie Cahill) says the wife called for help which must have been a feat itself considering she was bound, gagged and in the bedroom. There were two intruders and both wore ski masks, what we'd call balaclavas. The daughter Megan, (Heather Sossaman) was at the movie theatre. Mac (Gary Sinise) questions all the houses in the neighbourhood to find out "why the attackers chose this one?" Lindsay (Anna Belknap) processes the Cs as we get more flashes of the events from the night. She finds a ski mask under the husband, Ron's (Vincent Ventresca) Db and the empty box that was delivered. Jo (Sela Ward) finds a hair from a slashed painting.

So much happens in Matthew Leutwyler’s Answers to Nothing, but how much is actually relevant? An adulterous husband with a rockstar mistress and lawyer wife, a police detective best friend and her key suspect in a child kidnapping case, a recently graduated police officer and his grade school teacher neighbor, a racist black television writer and the soundboard mixer she meets while walking their dogs, and a recovering alcoholic caring for her brain dead brother all cross paths in Los Angeles. Southern California hides their secrets and opens them up to the tragedy of life and the mistakes made every second of every day. They try so hard to ignore the people around them, but what’s the point of living in a community if society refuses to watch out for each other?
This appears to be the main question Leutwyler and co-writer Gillian Vigman asks. Through the transgressions...

Well, cut me open and splay my innards. This episode was awesome. Written by Joss Whedon’s little brother Jed and his wife Maurissa Tancharoen, this episode Topher develops morals and Sierra kills a client. Also, this episode was directed by Jonathan Frakes (of Star Trek The Next Generation) making it all around awesome.
The last time I recapped Dollhouse, I was pretty harsh saying the show has to give me something worth saving it for. Now I can say that for episodes like this one, its worth saving this show for more of this kind of stuff.
We open on Sierra displaying some of her art on the beach, when Dr. Nolan Kinnard (Vincent Ventresca) comes up to her and asks her out. Flash forward to a gallery showing of Sierra/Priya’s work. Priya wants to leave with Victor who has been imbued with the consciousness of an Italian Art Dealer.

Our reviews for this past week are down a couple of shows, thanks primarily to baseball. Fringe was a no-show on account of the former, and Supernatural offered us a repeat of this season's premiere.
That said, we've got some new entries in the mix, which we'll be continuing as well. Blaine Kyllo chimes in with his thoughts on this past week's episodes of House, 30 Rock and Dollhouse (the latter of which returned to the airwaves after a one week absence).
With choices reduced on account of America's favorite pastime, viewers had a second look at shows they might have otherwise missed the first go-round, in their quest for something to watch, and this benefited FlashForward, which earned its best audience since its second week, picking up a 6.2 rating/10 share.
Meanwhile, according to the stats, Fringe, which has been a big ratings loser in its sophomore season, saw an uptick the week ending Oct.
