Here's a new image featuring actor Bill Skarsgård in the role of the monstrous Pennywise the Clown in the big screen adaptation of Stephen King's It. This is our first full body look at the character, and he looks dark and sinister. Just imagine that thing popping up in a storm drain and asking you if you want a balloon.

The costume design comes from costume designer Janie Bryant (Deadwood, Mad Men) who talked to EW about the design of the outfit saying:
“The costume definitely incorporates all these otherworldly past lives, if you will. He is definitely a clown from a different time.“That pleating is actually Fortuny pleating, which gives it almost a crepe-like effect. It’s a different technique than what the Elizabethans would do. It’s more organic, it’s more sheer.

Calendar-wise, summer doesn't begin for another few weeks. As far as the TV business is concerned, though, summer began at 11:01 p.m. on Wednesday night, when the 2015-16 network TV season officially ended. The break used to be a little cleaner, but as cable and streaming outlets premiere shows year-round, and as the broadcast networks have become a bit less bound to the rules of the calendar, there's more overlap than ever before. HBO's dynamite Sunday lineup has another month to go, late spring broadcast premieres for shows like Person of Interest and Houdini & Doyle mean they have a few more weeks in them, and the next few months will see a mix of new and returning scripted material across every kind of TV provider there is in 2016. The next few days, weeks, and months will feature the return of some of the best shows on television, including UnREAL (Lifetime,...

With a seemingly endless amount of streaming options — not only the titles at our disposal, but services themselves — we’ve taken it upon ourselves to highlight the titles that have recently hit the interwebs. Every week, one will be able to see the cream of the crop (or perhaps some simply interesting picks) of streaming titles (new and old) across platforms such as Netflix, iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, and more (note: U.S. only). Check out our rundown for this week’s selections below.
Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead (Douglas Tirola)
While the last few decades or so of National Lampoon’s output has been less than stellar, their influence through their humor magazine and films such as the original Vacation and Animal House can still be felt today. For those curious about the formation of the group and their rise to ubiquitous status, a new documentary looks to provide the behind-the-scenes story.

Welcome to the final installment of our summer trip through "The Sopranos" season 1. When I revisited early seasons of "The Wire," as well as the whole run of "Deadwood," I did separate versions of each review for newcomers and veterans, but over time realized that the newcomers weren't commenting much, if at all, and that it therefore made sense to simply do one review. Any significant spoilers for episodes beyond the one being reviewed will be contained in a separate section at the end of the review; so long as you avoid that, and the comments, you should be fine. Thoughts on the season finale, “I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano," coming up just as soon as I remind you that I'm not a big Renee Zellweger fan... American Hustle continues a recent string of much-feted films in the career of director David O. Russell. After the relative obscurity that went along with 1994’s Spanking the Monkey and 1996’s Flirting with Disaster, the relative success of 1999’s Three Kings—which, by the way, is still his best film—and back to relative obscurity again with 2004’s misunderstood existential comedy I ♥ Huckabees, he was then shot into the relative stratosphere with the dual critical and artistic successes of The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook. That’s a lot of relativity to speak of, but it’s necessary when talking about the particular merits of Russell’s films, especially considering American Hustle may be his most high profile release yet.
You see, Russell is an enigma, a Steven Soderbergh-type chameleon without the distinct freedom of that filmmaker but one who can seemingly blend into the genres he chooses to tackle.

Teresa and Joe’s father is in the hospital and it causes tension among the entire Gorga family.

WWE Legend, Hall of Famer and WrestleMania icon Ricky Steamboat sat down with John Pollock of The Fight Network this week to discuss the future of WWE’s developmental territory Nxt.
According to Steamboat - whose own son Richie is on the Nxt roster – says that WWE has big plans for the Florida based group and sees it becoming the company’s third legitimate brand on television right up there with Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown.
“Nxt is a new, young program hoping to become a third brand with WWE. The focus and the push is to go in that direction. What it also is going to do is jump start a lot of young talent coming from the school to Nxt, get their feet wet, and hopefully that will carry over to them getting on Smackdown or Raw.”

Tonight's "Real Housewives of New Jersey" begins with a lovely reminder as to why Melissa Gorga is a reality star (Read: Someone who is famous for not actually being able to do anything) instead of a dancer. She's rehearsing with her "backup dancers" at Fred Astaire Studio and it's not going well. "Ohh, That's why it wasn't working," she exclaims. "I wasn't walking!" This routine is off to a very positive start. Luckily, choreographer Chris Judd is Jennifer Lopez's second husband -- and as such, he has the patience of a saint. (I'll refrain from saying anything snarky about how his life has obviously taken a turn for the mega-lame since the dissolution of that marriage. I'm not a monster, you know.)
Meanwhile Gia, 11, is reminding us that some children of the corn have pretty decent rhythm. She's also rehearsing for Beatstock, but she's actually pretty good. Her hip...

The Real Housewives of New Jersey are doing Beatstock. What do you mean you don't know what Beatstock is? It's a New Jersey/York dance/performance/hip-hop tradition! Now let's get back to the boom, kat, boom boom kats, of choreography in preparation. Gia and Melissa are working hard, and boom katting in the studio.

They may not be household names like their A-list colleagues, but the actors on this list have appeared in some of our all-time favourite geek movies...
Some actors dabble in sci-fi; others dip their toe into fantasy; some may even make an appearance in the odd horror film - all before returning to the safety of the genres in which they feel more comfortable - perhaps a nice, award-chasing period drama, or a well-paid romantic comedy.
A-listers may see the geeky films that we on this site enjoy and celebrate as fun little side-projects, but there are actors out there who commit full-time to these types of movies. It is high time, therefore, that we credited these individuals with the recognition they deserve.
Besides the stipulation that, in order to be included, an actor had to still be alive and working today, there were no strict criteria that had to...

The shows you get out of Lifetime can be pretty hit or miss. That's generally a good thing as far as I'm concerned. You either love Drop Dead Diva, or you hate it, and I for one appreciate the "not for everyone" approach to show design. It's a recipe that gets trickier when you're venturing out into the massively overpopulated world of crime shows though, and Lifetime's new efforts, The Protector and Against the Wall, are faced with a tough road with genre norms butting heads against network image.
Shows focusing on cops and/or crime aren't well-suited to flights of fancy, or niche shtick, like several of Lifetime's other working models, and when people think Lifetime, a network that's going to suck in crime show fans is not exactly what leaps to mind.
I'm still not convinced by Lifetime's effort at balancing things with The Protector.

Though it beat Avatar by over a million on Friday, Sherlock Holmes didn’t beat the film for the weekend totals, though it’s weekend take of $65 million was certainly impressive enough and no doubt was more money than any of director Guy Richie’s previous five movies combined. Avatar was still No. 1 with $75 million, that reportedly unwatchable Alvin and Chipmunks sequel at $50 million and It’s Complicated or The Film That No Straight Man on the Planet Wants to See came in at No. 4. Nine looks like a dud.
The rest as usual below the fold:
