Long-time character actor Camden Toy, best known for his roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and, more recently, the horror anthology series Into The Dark, has died. He was 68. According to a press release from Toy’s representatives, the actor passed away on Monday, December 11, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. His longtime partner, Bethany ‘Bea’ Henderson, opened up about his diagnosis earlier this month in a Facebook post, writing, “My heart is breaking as I watch my Love vanish before me!” “Many of our circle know that Camden has been battling with pancreatic cancer for 2 years. He was diagnosed in February last year after months of mysterious pain. For many reasons we were very hopeful for, at least, a longer and more fruitful time on planet Earth,” Henderson continued. She added, “Unfortunately, it looks like we’ve reached the end of the road with the doctor’s treatments.

Camden Toy, the versatile character actor famed for playing a succession of demonic monsters on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has died. He was 68.
Toy died Dec. 11, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, his representatives confirmed in a press release.
Often caked under layers of makeup as well as special prosthetics, Toy would be unrecognizable for many of his most well-known turns on Buffy and later Angel, playing one of the Gentleman, the Prince of Lies and the demon Gnarl among others, but his unmistakable physical acting would rank him and close friend Doug Jones as firm fan favorites.
“This is hard,” Jones tweeted on Wednesday. “So many memories including working together, decades of laughing, sharing mutual friends, get-togethers, travel, conventions, and huggles with each other and our fans. From Buffy on, 24 years blessed to have this friend. May he rest in God’s peace.”

Camden Toy, the actor best known for playing memorable vampires and demons on The WB’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, died Monday after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, according to his official Facebook page. He was 68.
Toy appeared in the Season 4 Buffy episode “Hush” as one of the demonic Gentlemen. He played the skin-eating demon Gnarl in Season 7’s “Same Time, Same Place.” He also recurred as a primordial Turok-Han vampire.
On Angel, Toy played the ancient, Nosferatu-like vampire The Prince of Lies in the WWII-themed flashbacks of Season 5’s “Why We Fight”.
Toy was also a series regular on Goodnight Burbank and played Igor Chambers on the Peacock web series The Bay.
On the big screen, the actor appeared in dozens of productions, most recently Average Joe in 2019.

"Hush" is the scariest episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and I will fight any naysayers on that. "The Body," where Buffy's mom dies, is the saddest and most impactful, in my opinion, but this one ... creepy, smiling men that float towards you, steal your voice, and then stab you ... there is no way to watch this and not shudder. I apologize for any nightmares the picture above gives you. I assure you, I have already collected all my old stuffed animals, checked under my bed for odd boxes, and turned on every light in the house.
If you haven't watched the tenth episode of the fourth season, I implore you not to do it alone. In "Hush," everyone is dealing with communication issues. Tara (Amber Benson in the character's debut) struggles to stand up for herself at a coven meeting while Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Riley (Marc Blucas...

Not a lot of villains on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" manage to make an impression in just one episode, but The Gentlemen were unforgettable. The Emmy-nominated episode, "Hush," features Camden Toy as one of four demons that capture the voices — and the beating hearts — of Sunnydale.
Since these monsters move in silence, their performance rested on their terrifying expressions. Some of the most iconic monsters of all time are silent, from Frankenstein to the shark in Jaws. When you can't hope to communicate with a threat, you feel even more frightened — this is the horrifying effect of the Gentlemen.
The makeup and practical effects team at "Buffy" were incredibly talented, but the casting department still had to give them a sufficiently spooky smile to work with. Two of the actors cast as the Gentlemen, Toy and Doug Jones, had such scary expressions that they were actually given less prosthetic makeup than their counterparts.

Joss Whedon has earned undying praise for that great characters and sharp dialogue that pepper his work, although it’s not just audiences who’re attracted to his writing skill; actors love him for the same reasons – they always know they’ve got something good to work from with a Whedon script. He really is very much an actor’s director, treating productions as incredibly collaborative processes.
All of this might explain, then, why so many actors like to work with the guy again and again. It isn’t unusual for directors to rely on the same actors (think Martin Scorsese with De Niro and DiCaprio or Tim Burton and Johnny Depp) but Whedon might just have the biggest collection of names you’ll always see in the credits of one of his productions.

Editor’s Note: I met Sean Williams at Comic-Con’s Hall H between panels on the first day of the Con this past July, chatting as people do. It turns out that Sean is a filmmaker, and he’s working on a sci-fi project – travel to another planet! strong women! – that sounds really great.
Last week Sean let me know that he was ready to start “officially” talking about the project, and wanted to know what I’d like to know. I told him I wanted to know, basically, everything. How the project got started, who’s involved, where he is in the process, etc. What follows is the narrative he wrote up on the spot on his phone and sent to me via Facebook Messenger in response. One long narrative that was completely engaging. He even copied and inserted biographies as he went along. It’s no wonder the man has won writing awards.

Just hitting our desks today is a little indie flick that's packing quite a punch casting-wise, and if you're into diggin' on a veritable who's who of horror ensemble, look no further than Joe Hollow's Disciples.
Not much is known about the flick at this time; however, the logline reads as follows: It has been written that an angel would be risen to usurp the emperor Lucifer. If this angel were to be given life, Lucifer would no longer be what God now fears.
Okay, a demon scarier than big red? Color us intrigued. We'll dig up more on this one as soon as we can.
Disciples stars Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens, Tony Todd, Angus Scrimm, Bill Moseley, Camden Toy, Debbie Rochon, Nick Principe, and a lot more. Hit the link at the bottom of this story for the whole enchilada.

It’s that time of year again- Halloween; ‘tis the season for ghouls and ghasts and spooks galore. There have been few true horror series, such as Tales from the Crypt and Masters of Horror, and for this admitted scaredy-cat, finding TV episodes to watch can be tough. Here are seven fun and spooky episodes to celebrate the holiday with, marathon-style. As a rule, Halloween-set episodes are excluded, as that’s a list for a different day, however, no Halloween TV marathon would be complete without It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and The Simpsons’ “Treehouse of Horror” (the first incarnation is a favorite, with the gang moving into a haunted house, the introduction of Kang and Kodos as The Simpsons does “To Serve Man”, and finally their fantastic rendition of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven); consider adding them to the ordered list below.

Tara Cardinal is a go-to-girl when it comes to indie horror and the underground film scene. She acts, writes, produces and she's even directed some. Babelgum has been on a web series roundup of late, and these guys are moving fast. With news coming just two weeks ago of indie sci-fi series The Crew jumping ship to the online network as its news home for season 2, a fresh new batch of sci-fi series have followed suit. Today Babelgum announced three new original series, several of which are helmed by some web series notables, to make up the bulk of the sci-fi/horror comedy channel. Launching today is a new series from Goodnight Burbank creator Hayden Black—no not The Cabonauts, which we're still waiting on—but a hastily assembled paranormal comedy The Occulterers. The "interactive comedy and horror series" stars Black as one of his inventive characters, Hervé Villechez, this time part of a four-person Transylvanian ghost hunting crew. Black's new series took just two weeks from concept to production, and that includes inking the deal with Babelgum.
