Golden Globes, SAGs, and BAFTAs all having been dutifully doled out over the past few months, this evening saw the BAFTA TV Awards 2025 — hosted by Avengers: Doomsday's Alan Cumming and held at London's Royal Festival Hall — take centre stage for a night of red carpet walking and shiny statue giving. And during a telecast in which the two most nominated shows — Netflix stalker thriller Baby Reindeer and ITV drama Mr Bates Vs The Post Office — took home one award apiece, the likes of Mr Loverman, Shōgun, and Blue Lights all scored big wins in major categories.

On the night, Baby Reindeer's sole win saw Jessica Gunning's turn as Richard Gadd's crazed stalker Martha recognised in the Supporting Actress race, while Mr Bates Vs Post Office, which was elsewhere nominated in both Lead acting categories, took home the coveted accolade for Limited Drama.

Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Mr Loverman were the big victors at the BAFTA TV Awards, meaning Baby Reindeer did not continue its dominant winning streak.

Mr Bates vs. the Post Office pulled off a victory over Netflix's Emmy-winning Baby Reindeer at the 2025 BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday. The ITV drama that dominated U.K. ratings last year tells the story of hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters and postmistresses who were wrongly accused of theft, fraud, and false accounting due to a defective It system.

However, it wasn't all bad news for Baby Reindeer. Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award winner Jessica Gunning continued her impressive awards streak, scoring Best Supporting Actress, and bringing the limited series’ total to three wins, including writing and directing victories from the BAFTA TV Craft Awards on April 27.

Lennie James beat out the likes of Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer) and Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) to win Best Actor for Mr Loverman, in which he plays an exuberant, closeted family man who wants to end his marriage and live with his best friend.

The great and the good of the U.K. TV industry have descended on London’s Royal Festival Hall for the British small screen’s biggest night of the year, the BAFTA TV Awards.

Deadline reports that Rivals, which stars Tennant, Aidan Turner and Danny Dyer, now has a 12-episode order, up from eight episodes in the first season. The British series is made for Disney+, where it airs in the United Kingdom, while it is available on Hulu in the United States. Disney+ reports that the first season of Rivals is the streamer's most successful general entertainment premiere in the UK to date.

"We are so excited to be returning to Rutshire for an extended stay of twelve episodes for season two of Rivals," EPs Dominic Treadwell-Collins and Alexander Lamb said. "It’s very special to have the same team return in front of and behind the cameras, and we cannot wait to share more of Jilly’s world with our audience.

Cameras have now rolled on the second season of the Jilly Cooper adaptation starring David Tennant, Aidan Turner and Danny Dyer, and the series has been given a rare 12-ep order, up from eight in Season 1.

The first season has been Disney+’s most successful general entertainment premiere in the UK to date, according to the streamer. It airs on Hulu in the States.

Podcasting is making the leap from your ears to the Golden Globes as the annual celebration of film and TV plans to introduce a competitive Best Podcast category to January’s 2026 ceremony. While some outlets think the move is bizarre, organizers say there are “extraordinary and diverse talents in podcasting,” and “seismic growth” in the podcast space warrants a spotlight on the glitzy show.

The final season of Good Omens just got a major update from leading star David Tennant. Tennant plays the role of Crowley opposite Michael Sheen's Aziraphale in the first two seasons of Good Omens, which are both streaming on Prime Video. The show was renewed for Season 3, and it even began production last year before it was paused amid sexual assault allegations against creator Neil Gaiman. Not long after the show hit the pause button, it was announced that Good Omens would indeed wrap up with a third season, but it would only consist of one installment that will be one hour and 30 minutes long. Tennant recently sat down with The Independent, and he provided an update on the final season, admitting that it “would have been difficult to leave it on a cliffhanger”:

Good Omens is based on the beloved book written by the late Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. When the book was finally adapted for television, Gaiman became the showrunner, helping lead the project to success.

The first season of Good Omens adapted the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett. The second season went beyond the book, with Gaiman closely involved with expanding the story. The third and final season was set to wrap things up, but then Gaiman was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women (he has denied the allegations) and exited the show. The third season is still happening, but it will now just be a 90-minute mini-movie coming out sometime later this year.
