‘Alert: Missing Persons Unit’: Nikki’s Kidnapping Has Shocking, Tragic Ending
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 3 Episode 2 “Badge #41870.”] Alert: Missing Persons Unit just delivered its most shocking episode yet. Ahead of the season, the trailer revealed that Nikki (Dania Ramirez) would be kidnapped, and that moment comes at the beginning of the second episode, “Badge #41870.” The episode also introduces Chief Inspector Bill Houston (recurring guest star Malcolm-Jamal Warner), who wasn’t a fan of the way Jason (Scott Caan) did things in the past; he says that they’re going to start over because he’s learned to take the good with the bad. There are more pressing concerns: He’s looking for Nikki because someone she arrested for felony assault, Raina (Sharon Taylor), is out on early parole. Nikki’s phone is going straight to voicemail, and then Gps of her car leads them to it … outside the city and completely burned. The only good news? It’s empty and...

Now, following the release of the 11th outing, Sniper: The Last Stand earlier this year, lead actor Chad Michael Collins has now revealed that another explosive installment in the SniperVerse is already locked and loaded.

Thanking fans for their ongoing support, Collins took to X/Twitter to make the announcement. Appearing on the set of the new Sniper movie, and looking like he’s already seen plenty of action, the actor revealed that the next chapter in the ongoing saga, which first started all the way back in 1993 with the Tom Berenger-led Sniper, is already “halfway through production.

Image
Stars: Chad Michael Collins, Arnold Vosloo, Vusi Kunene, Ryan Robbins, Noxolo Dlamini, Scott George, Sharon Taylor, Sizo Mahlangu, Rob Van Vuuren | Written by Sean Wathen | Directed by Danishka Esterhazy

Sniper: The Last Stand is the eleventh film in a franchise that began back in 1993 with Sniper and continued on through films like Sniper: Rogue Mission and most recently Sniper: G.R.I.T. – Global Response & Intelligence Team. After so many entries, many franchises are running out of steam and getting by on past glories, will this be any different?

The film opens with a ten-minute sequence where the members of Operation Phoenix track arms dealer Ryker Kovalov to his headquarters in the jungles of Costa Verde only for him to trigger his doomsday weapon.

The film then travels back to forty-eight hours earlier and Brandon Beckett’s arrival at a remote airstrip in Costa Verde, a trip that involved...

"Where will you be in the thick of it?" Aldis Hodge Loved James Patterson's Response to Whitewashing 'Cross'
Image
It's always nice to hear a story where someone tells Hollywood to go f*ck itself. Which is, quite literally, what James Patterson did when executives asked him to re-write his iconic Alex Cross character as a white man. And now Cross television star Aldis Hodge — who plays the titular character — is speaking out about what it means to have kept Alex Cross a Black man.

Speaking with BuzzFeed, Hodge explained that he was "shocked, impressed, and proud" when he heard the author of the wildly successful Alex Cross novels was asked by some Hollywood executives to sign a seven-figure deal — but only if he changed the character's race to white.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last month, Patterson explained the story as such:

"Here's an interesting thing about the Hollywood 'Cross' stuff. When I wrote the first Alex Cross book, I didn't have a lot of money and Hollywood came calling — knock,...

Prime Video's Cross Is the Third-Biggest Season Premiere for the Streamer This Year
Image
Prime Video’s newest hit series, Cross, has now become the third-biggest season premiere of 2024 for Amazon’s streaming service. Variety reports that the series, starring Aldis Hodge as the titular Detective Alex Cross, amassed 40 million viewers in the first 20 days it streamed on Prime Video.

Amazon states that the 40 million number ranks Cross No. 3 for this year as far as season premieres go on Prime Video behind Season 1 of Fallout and Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The Walton Goggins-led Fallout had 65 million viewers in 16 days and The Rings of Power had 40 million in 11 days. Cross debuted on Nov. 14.

The streamer also said Cross is the third-biggest launch for a Prime Video series and the sixth-biggest season launch of all time for the platform when 20 days of viewership are counted. Of the viewers, 55% were from countries other than the United States, with Germany,...

Quick Links This Season on Cross... Cross Catches the Killer But It Doesn't End There Cross' Season 1 Ending Sets Up Season 2

Making its Prime Video debut on November 14, 2024, Cross is a popular crime series that has remained atop the platform's most-watched shows. Based on the fictional Washington, D.C. detective featured in 30 Alex Cross novels by James Patterson, the eight-part series has drawn plaudits for its towering performance by Aldis Hodge as the title character. The show's critical success and wide viewership led Amazon to renew the series for Season 2.

Of course, discussing Cross Season 2 without clarifying what transpires at the end of Season 1 is impossible. Core to Cross' investigative focus is identifying who murdered his wife, Maria. Meanwhile, the mysterious murder of a political activist occupies Cross' work duties, with the shocking confluence of events in the Season 1 finale setting up Season 2's storyline. Beyond naming Maria's murderer, here's...

'There Is a Partnership': Cross Stars Praise Amazon Show's Female Characters
Image
Prime Video's original series Cross is remarkable not only for its mystery, but for how it treats its female characters. The women in Alex Cross's world are all fully developed characters who can stand on their own, separate from their connection to Cross or the serial killer case he's trying to solve. The two most prominent female characters are Cross's love interest Elle Monteiro, and his old friend Kayla Craig.

With Cross Season 1 now streaming, Cbr spoke to actors Samantha Walkes (who plays Elle) and Alona Tal (who portrays Kayla) about the show's writing for its female characters. They discussed how the women in Cross are different from those in other procedurals, and one other incredible aspect of the writing that viewers may have missed. Plus, Tal reflected on reuniting with showrunner Ben Watkins, with whom she previously collaborated with on Hand of God and Burn Notice.

'Cross' Star on Whether Kayla Craig Becomes a Villain in Season 2
Image
Prime Videos new detective series, Cross, has gotten a lot of buzz, enough that it already had a Season 2 guaranteed long before it premiered. Fans of the James Patterson books that Alex Cross originates from may already have some clues about what to expect in the future season, especially about a major antagonist. The character of sharp FBI agent Kayla Craig is awfully similar to the name Kyle Craig in Pattersons books. The latter, once a friend of Cross, eventually becomes a major villain to defeat. Do we see the writing on the creative wall here?

In a recent interview with MovieWeb, Alona Tal, who plays Craig in the series, was quick to note: This is the fun part. Since this is a new world, any resemblance [of the two characters] is just fuel for the speculation, and that keeps you at the edge of your seat. In every good character, there has to...

How 'Cross' Connects to James Pattersons Novels
Image
The Prime Video crime thriller Cross once again brings the beloved James Patterson literary character to life in spectacular fashion, with Leverage alum Aldis Hodge taking on the exhilarating role of the brilliant D.C. forensic psychologist and detective Alex Cross. The highly-buzzed about series will follow Cross as he utilizes his exceptional capability of digging into the psyches of dangerous killers and their victims in order to identify and catch some of the country's most violent offenders.

The heart-racing original will consist of eight episodes in its first season and has already been greenlit for an additional second installment, likely following in the footsteps of fellow book adaptation Prime hit Reacher. The determined detective has already been brought to the big screen in three less-than-warmly received films, with both the great Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry tackling the epic role. Let's jump in and explore how Cross will relate to the James Patterson novels.

The dramatic crime series concerns the investigative exploits of Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge), a skilled forensic expert and criminal psychologist who delves into the twisted minds of those he apprehends to understand their violent behavior.

Denzel Washington and Tyler Perry famously portrayed the character in the panned movies Kiss the Girls, Along Came a Spider, and Alex Cross, allowing Aldis Hodge to repair the character's reputation in the new TV adaptation. Cross Creator Ben Watkins On Why Aldis Hodge Was The "Blueprint" For The James Patterson Hero & Killer Parallels
Image
Your browser does not support the video tag.

James Patterson's most iconic detective is getting a new life with Ben Watkins at the helm in Prime Video's Cross. The Washington D.C.-based detective and forensic psychologist has been the lead of 32 novels by the bestselling author, and first made his way to the screen with 1997's Kiss the Girls, which starred Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross, which he reprised with the 2001 sequel Along Came a Spider, which was actually the first book in the series. He would later be brought back with the 2012 franchise reboot Alex Cross, which starred Tyler Perry in the titular role.

Watkins first found success on screen with his work in the spy comedy series Burn Notice, having started as a staff writer on season 1 before going on to be a story editor in season 2, executive story editor in season 3 and a writer and...

Aldis Hodge is bringing another iconic character to life and has Isaiah Mustafa along for the ride in Cross. Hodge has also been steadily building his filmography behind the camera, serving as a producer on Cross as well as co-writing and producing the sci-fi thriller Parallel with his brother, Edwin Hodge.

Mustafa, on the other hand, has taken an interesting route in his career, beginning as a wide receiver in the NFL before turning his attention to acting in the late '00s. He most notably became a household name thanks to being the main star...

Cross Season 2 Gets Surprising Filming Update From Creator Ahead Of Season 1's Prime Video Release
Image
Cross season 2 gets a surprising filming update ahead of the season 1 premiere. Set to arrive on Prime Video in just a few weeks, the eight-episode first installment is based on the popular James Patterson novels. It centers on the titular character, Alex Cross, a detective and forensic psychologist who is uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims. Aldis Hodge, known for his role as Alec Hardison in the Leverage television franchise, in addition to his supporting turn in Black Adam, leads the cast and produces the adaptation.

Speaking at the recent New York Comic Con with Screen Rant's Tatiana Hullender, ahead of Cross' Prime Video premiere on November 14, series creator Ben Watkins mentions in passing that season 2 is already filmed. Watkins mentioned that he hopes audiences see something they like with the first episodes since the second installment is already completed. Read the quote...

Nycc 2024: Cross Creator & Stars Talk Prime Video Adaptation, Bringing Hero To Modern Setting & Character Arcs
Image
Your browser does not support the video tag.

James Patterson's iconic Washington D.C. detective and forensic psychologist is back in a big way with Cross. The upcoming Prime Video show serves as the fourth adaptation of Patterson's character, with Morgan Freeman having played him twice in the psychological thrillers Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider, before being surpassed by Tyler Perry in the 2012 franchise reboot, Alex Cross. This time around, the eponymous detective is being played by Aldis Hodge, best known for his work in the Leverage shows, as well as the Invisible Man reboot, Turn: Washington's Spies and Black Adam, among others.

Unlike the prior three films, Cross will be taking an original approach to adapting Patterson's franchise, not adapting any one specific novel, but instead creating a new case with some iconic characters appearing. The show will follow Hodge's Cross and his...

Aldis Hodge Promises Surprising Take on James Patterson's Alex Cross in Prime Video Series
Image
Aldis Hodge has a new Cross to bear, but his take on author James Pattersons beloved detective will be a vastly different interpretation than has appeared in previous adaptations of the novels. And Hodge is rightfully excited about his divergent and nuanced iteration of Alex Cross, who appears in the upcoming Prime Video series, which is aptly titled Cross. Hodge said in an interview with Screen Rant while appearing at the New York Comic Con (Nycc):

I think that, for me, I see our execution of Cross as just one element, which is the vast fullness of his entire world it's alluding to, if we get to explore that. We get to see the cop, not only that, we get to see the father, we get to see the family man, the friend. We get to see the vulnerable person that may not have all the answers, and is still trying to find out.

Cross Trailer: Aldis Hodge Is Out To Catch A Psycho Killer In Prime Video Crime Thriller Series
Image
Despite being the subject of 34 bestselling crime novels from author James Patterson, fictional Washington Metro Pd detective and Psychology PhD holder Alex Cross has yet to get a really good screen adaptation. Morgan Freeman starring 90s twofer Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider were decent enough, whilst the less said about Tyler Perry's 2012 effort probably the better. However, all that looks set to change with Prime Video's upcoming series Cross. Written and created by Hand Of God producer Ben Watkins, this new series stars Aldis Hodge (Black Adam) as Cross, the star detective who deploys his prodigious talent for forensic psychology to catch killers. Check out the first trailer below:

A fetishistic killer. Intensely personal stakes. Mind games upon mind games upon mind games. Is anybody else getting some serious American Luther vibes from this, or is it just us? Either way, there's plenty here to get hyped about.

Top 10 Plant-Based Movie Characters
Image
Many people are opting for a healthier diet by cutting out animal products and plant-based meat substitutes are gaining in popularity recently. Hollywood however has been ahead of the vegan trend by decades, with a long history of heroic and villainous characters spawned from vegetation.

Mineral-based characters like Colossus and Thing are fine, but metal or rock are not living organisms, and they may be confusing to audiences in terms of how they can move. Plants on the other hand are quite alive, and it makes perfect sense that they could become sentient beings. With growing concern for climate change, more than ever the world needs eco-friendly plant-based champions.

Exclusive: Sharon Taylor (Fire Country) has joined the cast of the Amazon Original series Cross, which stars Aldis Hodge in the role of Alex Cross.

Taylor will portray Lt. Oracene Massey and replaces the originally cast Karen LeBlanc, who exited due to scheduling conflicts, Deadline hears.

Lt. Massey is Alex’s immediate superior at the Metro Pd. She is a tireless self-promoter who understands that advancement doesn’t always have anything to do with catching the bad guys, but with pleasing those higher up. In the series, she is pregnant.

From Paramount Television Studios and Skydance Television, Cross is described as a complex and twisted thriller created by producer and writer Ben Watkins and based on the best-selling Alex Cross book series by James Patterson.
