Florin Tanase was born on April 13, 1944 in the city of Vulcan, in the Hunedoara county, Romania. He finished the 4 years study in Acting at the famous, internationally recognized "National University for Theatre and Movie" ("IATC", today "UNATC"), in 1968, at professor's Costache Antoniu class, assisted by Victor Moldovanu and Petrica Vasilescu.
He was employed by the Theatre "Toma Caragiu" in Ploiesti, but after only one piece, he played at the Theatre in Timisoara for two years. Between 1973-75 he was at the Comedy Theatre Bucharest.
Florin Tanase was a complex actor, playing mostly in comedies, who completed his studies after graduation, following also the courses for Theater Direction. He is well remembered through two video clips with Puiu Calinescu (* June 21, 1920, Bucharest - + May 16, 1997, Bucharest), another well known Romanian actor for comedy, famous for his appearances and grimaces, (best known for the part of Trandafir from the serial "Brigada Diverse" (B.D.), where he played together wit other very great Romanian comedy actors as: Dem Radulescu, Jean Constantin, Toma Caragiu, Sebastian Papaiani, Stefan Banica etc.) He was married to Florentina Tanase, actress at the Teatrul "Tandarica", with whom he had two sons, Vlad Alexandru, * 1978, and Tudor, * 1982. Florin Tanase died on June 1, 2003 in Bucharest, at 59.
