DJ Casper, who created the world-famous “Cha-Cha Slide”, has died. He was 58.
The DJ — who was born Willie Perry Jr. — died on Monday, after a battle with cancer, ABC News reports.
The Chicago native reportedly created the iconic dance and song as a step aerobics routine, when he was helping his nephew, who worked as a fitness trainer at Bally’s Total Fitness, according to NPR.
The craze started soon after, when DJ Casper was inundated with requests to play the song at parties and events. It was soon picked up and played by Chicago’s Wgci-fm in 2000, and eventually released by Universal Records.
The song became a staple of birthday celebrations, bar mitzvahs and wedding receptions across the globe.
DJ Casper spoke with ABC7 Chicago in May, and reflected on his contribution to pop culture, sharing, “I have one of the biggest songs that played at all stadiums: hockey,...

Adrian Street is a British Wrestling legend, and following the fairly recent Nxt UK TakeOver: Cardiff, we saw a documentary pop up on the WWE Network about the man himself titled “Imagine What I Could Do To You”. This isn’t the longest of documentary specials yet it still covers enough to highlight Street and tell his story, albeit briefly, to those who may be unfamiliar with it.
Adrian Street began wrestling in 1957 at just seventeen years of age and that career would last until he retired from performing in the ring in 2014. Aged 78 now, Street works backstage at WWE UK as well as in the performance centre. This is something that is huge for WWE in the UK, having one of the most colourful, entertaining, charismatic and groundbreaking characters in UK wrestling history working with the young UK talent in the modern era is one of those priceless but...

It seems as though the WWE Hall of Fame is more and more regimented, in that the induction class has to follow a specific pattern: one headliner, one woman, one tag team, one celebrity, and three or four other inductees that include no more than one deceased performer (so as to not upset people, it seems).
Looking back at the 2004 and 2005 classes, you had quite the haul of 1980s greats going in, from Hulk Hogan to Rowdy Roddy Piper to Jesse Ventura to Sgt. Slaughter, and a host of others. Few WWE eras were as cool as the 1980’s Rock ‘n Wrestling era, and the first five or so years of Saturday Night’s Main Event. Goofy and over-the-top as the era could be, it still holds up today.
One issue with the rote formula for choosing the recent Hall classes has been the logjam created among the eighties stars that should be recognized.

The likes of King Barrett and Neville are impressing in the WWE right now but the history of British wrestling goes back much further than the occasional breakthroughs in Connecticut.
Audiences of 18 million people watched World of Sport at its peak and enjoyed some of the most fascinating characters in the history of the sport.
Perhaps the most remarkable was Les Kellett. "He was never the top man, but he was always the one people talked about and the one people wanted to see," screenwriter and director Harvey Auzorst tells us, explaining how his film Kellett came to be in development.
Impressed by the script for Auzorst's Blackpool-based Rat Pack Sands, wrestling legend and current Nxt general manager William Regal vouched for Auzorst among the famously close-knit British wrestling community.
The former Blue Blood put him in touch with his one-time tag partner Dave Taylor, which opened the door to...

If the rumors are true, Nxt superstar Kalisto won’t be doing the “Salida Del Sol” as a finisher too much longer. As the homosexual hairdresser character that he may be playing on forthcoming episodes of Monday Night Raw, that move could be called the “Updo With Bangs” (or maybe even something worse).
Homosexuality and pro wrestling have a long history of being mentioned in the same in-ring breath. In all reality, it’s quite logical. Take an athletic endeavor that is quite macho and masculine, and simply invert all of its most macho tropes on their heads. Fans that enjoy pro wrestling for the macho/aggressive sport of it all are definitely certain to hoot and jeer at those not-so-willing to be connected to the stereotypical presentation.
From Gorgeous George as a 50s headliner to “Exotic” Adrian Street in the 1970s, Goldust in thr 90s and now possibly Kalisto in the 2010s,...
