Produced and Directed by Dan Curtis

As a celebrated horror phenomenon Dan Curtis pretty much passed me by. I know that TV’s Dark Shadows entranced a generation of horror-starved TV fans, but little that I’ve seen from the producer-director made a dent with me, including his feature films and his TV movies of horror classics.

Film Review: ‘4/20 Massacre’
Not really the stupid stoner humor-dominated horror comedy you might expect, “4/20 Massacre” is a fairly straightforward indie slasher that’s only semi-tongue-in-cheek. Though it can’t claim to be the first such exercise, it does gain novelty value and some specialized appeal from having a mostly lesbian protagonist roll call. Unmemorable but fun as far as it goes, Dylan Reynolds’ very female-driven thriller launches on VOD and DVD April 3, with a single-screen Los Angeles theatrical run starting (of course) 4/20.

From the get-go hewing closely to slasher conventions, sexual orientation aside, Reynolds’ screenplay starts with a couple of gormless rural bros (Mark Schroeder, Drew Talbert) traipsing into a somewhat arid mountain region (the pic was shot in the vicinity of the San Bernardino National Forest, near Los Angeles). They’re certain there’s a hidden illegal pot farm around here somewhere, and their none-too-bright goal is simply to steal some weed from the “criminals.

WWE More Interested In Signing Eric Young Than Bobby Roode?
ImpactWrestling.com

On March 19, both Bobby Roode and Eric Young were released from Tna, at their own requests, after 12 years with the company. This week, Dave Meltzer announced on Wrestling Observer Radio that both men have held preliminary talks with WWE officials, via an intermediary.

Roode, 39, and Young, 36, both trained in their native Ontario and first made an impact in Tna in 2004 as part of Team Canada. Though that stable disintegrated after a few years, Roode and Young feuded after its dissolution. When both men went their separate ways, Roode formed the championship tandem Beer Money with James Storm, while Young primarily played a comedy babyface.

In 2011, Roode – who had grown into one of the best workers in the company – turned on Storm to become the Tna World Heavyweight Champion. In 2014, the popular Young upset Magnus for the title in a storyline that many saw as inspired by Daniel Bryan...

Eric Young And Bobby Roode Granted Tna Release
ImpactWrestling.com

In yet another sign that Tna is in its death throes, two of the company’s most loyal performers have asked for and been granted their release.

Both Eric Young and Bobby Roode fulfilled their final commitments at this past weekend’s tapings and have officially departed the organization they had been with for more than a decade.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise because we all assumed both men would remain with the promotion until it ceased to exist, but this could be a case of abandoning ship before it’s fully submerged.

Heading into the TV taping both men were champions, with Roode holding the tag team titles alongside his Beer Money partner James Storm while Young was the King of the Mountain. Young dropped the title to Bram in a falls count anywhere match while Beer Money relinquished their championship to The...

10 Wrestling Facts We Didn’t Know Last Week (Jan 29)
WWE.com

Nowadays, Ken Anderson feels at home in Tna. The fallout from his WWE tenure is still clearly something that bugs the man, because it routinely comes up in interviews and other media appearances. As ‘Mr. Kennedy’, the guy was scheduled to experience a huge push towards the WWE Title. A combination of injuries and WWE Wellness Policy violations would eventually cost him that chance.

In 2009, he was released from his contract. Reported heat with Randy Orton and others in the company was cited as the main reason, and Anderson was reborn as Mr. Anderson in Impact Wrestling. This week’s article features a stunning revelation from Anderson on something none other than Vince McMahon hated about his performances. Right up until he left WWE, McMahon repeatedly admonished the wrestler for this particular decision.

That’s exactly what is focused on here, 10 pro wrestling-related facts which weren’t exactly common knowledge before this week.

10 Aj Styles WWE Matches We Must See
ImpactWrestling.com

It was previously just a dream scenario for many, but the dream seems increasingly likely to come true. Aj Styles may indeed be heading to the mad world of World Wrestling Entertainment. For years, it seemed that anyone tainted with the Tna brush was off limits for WWE, but the attitude of the company towards the minor leagues has changed somewhat in recent times.

Samoa Joe is now firmly a part of Nxt. James Storm came and went in the blink of an eye. Stand outs from the independent scene such as Kevin Steen, El Generico, Sami Calihan and Brodie Lee have found themselves embraced by both WWE creative and the WWE Universe. Things have changed.

Aj Styles is arguably the biggest name outside of WWE in American professional wrestling today, and many would also go so far as to say that his name is a vital one...

Dixie Carter Claims WWE Are Trying To Sign Tna Wrestlers
© Splash News/Corbis

Tna President Dixie Carter spoke with the Associated Press earlier this week and claimed that WWE are trying to sign members of Tna’s roster.

Attention paid to transfers between the two brands has been intensified in recent times after James Storm decided to leave Nxt to rejoin Impact Wrestling. The former Beer Money man had appeared in a couple of episodes of WWE developmental’s weekly show, but decided against signing a full-time deal.

According to ProWrestlingSheet.com, WWE were only willing to offer less than $100K a year to Storm. Tna, on the other hand, offered him two-and-a-half times more than that.

In years gone by it has normally been fired WWE Superstars that have made the move to Impact Wrestling – with the likes of Drew Galloway and Ethan Carter III a couple of successful examples – but Dixie claims WWE are now actively scouting her wrestlers.

6 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night’s WWE Nxt (Dec 2)
WWE.com

I’ve been writing this weekly roundup of Nxt for a few months now and, even to casual readers, it should be fairly obvious than I’m something of a fan. I’ve tried many ways to subtly try and entice people into watching Nxt, but after last week’s episode, I’m starting to prefer the direct approach.

Do not watch Raw. Do not watch Smackdown. Watch Nxt instead.

If you’re looking for a stacked card of fantastic wrestling, storylines told with patience and taste, and a perpetually charged crowd, last night’s episode of Nxt will make you happier than even the sassiest promo from New Day. Nia Jax clobbered Bayley in a marvellous backstage spot, Gable & Jordan once again taught a class in amateur wrestling, James Storm added star power, Samoa Joe and Tomasso Ciampa put on a thunderous main event.

It was a good time…...

WWE Interested In Jay Lethal For Nxt
wwe / ring of honor

WWE are interested in signing Jay Lethal for Nxt.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Lethal could be targeted when his Ring Of Honor contract expires, which is said to be relatively soon. One of the perks of Lethal’s Roh contract is the New Japan connection, and he’s getting big bookings in the far east, but a WWE deal could be appealing.

At thirty years old, he brings a wealth of experience, having made his name in both Tna Impact Wrestling and Ring Of Honor. As well as being a solid in-ring worker, he also brings an entertainment factor. His run as “Black Machismo” is well remembered by Tna fans, and he held various titles across both Tna and Roh.

If he did sign with WWE, the question would be how the company uses him. Would he be on a Samoa Joe type deal...

Nxt Spoiler: Two More Former Tna Stars To Join WWE?
ImpactWrestling.com

With the recent influx of talent from Tna – including Samoa Joe, The Dudley Boyz and most recently James Storm – WWE has clearly reversed their position of not wanting anything to do with former Tna talents. Now you can place two more names on the list of potential additions to the thriving developmental promotion.

Former Tna World Champion Austin Aries was spotted arriving at Full Sail University, the location where Nxt tapes its programming. Aries, who most recently worked for Ring of Honor but is still appearing on Tna due to their advanced taping schedule, stopped to sign autographs for fans before making his way into the venue.

While his presence has been confirmed by a photo posted to Twitter, he didn’t appear in the ring or as part of the tapings… but speculation is he was there to hold talks with WWE about a potential working agreement.

19 Wtf Moments From WWE Nxt (Oct 28)
WWE.com

With the next Nxt special not till mid December in London, the product playing out on our WWE Network screens is plodding along quite nicely.

The Battle Royal that took place a couple of weeks ago has set up a couple of fascinating rivalries, while quite literally every member of the Nxt Universe is chomping at the bit to see Apollo Crews step into the ring with Finn Balor with the Nxt Championship on the line.

This week’s episode had a couple of big selling points that were sure to have intrigue high heading into the event. Samoa Joe was set to face-off against new main roster member Tyler Breeze, while new Diva, or female wrestler I should say, Nia Jax was set to make her second televised appearance.

We had all of that, and the prospect of this episode telling us what sort of role James Storm...

9 Nxt Stars That Would Make A Huge Impact On WWE’s Main Roster
WWE.com

Although it has become its own brand over the last few years, with tours around the Us and now an international tour in the UK in December, Nxt is still WWE’s breeding ground for the next big stars that will take the company to new heights for years to come. In the past year alone we’ve seen the likes of Neville, Kevin Owens, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, The Ascension and most recently, Tyler Breeze get called up after successful runs in the developmental brand, to try and make a name for themselves on the main roster.

Never fear though, because for every talented star that makes the transition to the big leagues, there’s another gifted performer chomping at the bit to get called up to create a legacy for themselves. The Nxt brand is still booming with ability, from the champion Finn Bálor to the recently debuted Tna veteran,...

With recent news stating that Nxt talents like Samoa Joe, Asuka and James Storm may never see the light of the main roster in WWE, we’ve officially reached a new place in the relationship between Raw and Smackdown and their developmental “little sister” brand, Nxt. Whereas we once thought that Nxt was a place that would eventually springboard talents to the main roster, we’re now beginning to see the roots of what Nxt may become as a stand-along group under the WWE umbrella.

This left turn in Nxt’s evolution is intriguing. The brand’s 2014 excellence and 2015 breakthrough have clearly caused WWE to re-think their goals for the “little brand that could,” and what we’re seeing now is Nxt as a promotion that in being re-imagined and re-positioned now has new (and quite possibly very exciting) differences from WWE’s main roster product. In contemplating what these differences are,...

Samoa Joe And Other Nxt Stars May Never Make WWE Raw Roster
wwe.com

Samoa Joe and several other big name Nxt stars are not earmarked for the main WWE Raw roster, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting.

Joe, James Storm, and Asuka, are only in Nxt to add experience levels and some name value to the third touring brand. The idea is for them to help teach guys, hence why Joe worked with Baron Corbin so much and why Asuka is working with Dana Brooke. As it happens, Brooke is one of the Nxt workers who is earmarked for the main roster.

That news will likely disappoint some fans. You’ve got these really talented wrestlers who are limited to Nxt, then you’ve got the less talented ones who are being readied for Raw. Although, to be fair to Dana Brooke, she is improving very quickly. She does have potential if she can continue to improve.

But never seeing Samoa Joe...

10 Wrestling Facts We Didn’t Know Last Week (16 Oct)
WWE.com

The ongoing ‘female revolution’ storyline has lost traction over the past few weeks in WWE. Previously, the Diva division had 3 distinct groups, Team Bella, Team B.A.D and Team Pcb. The latter has splintered somewhat, due to Paige turning heel and delivering a shoot-style promo on her former team mates. It’s not uncommon to see the creative team lose faith in an angle quickly, which pushes it down the ladder of importance.

For Becky Lynch, the drive to main event a WWE Pay-Per-View is still strong. During a recent interview to promote the company in Ireland, the Diva noted that she’s motivated by the idea of one day seeing a women’s match in the headline slot of a major event. That’s not the only fact Becky brings to the table this week, she also discusses her formative years in the industry.

That’s...

10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About James Storm
WWE.com

In more news potentially portending Tna Wrestling’s possible closure, multiple-time tag champion and former World Heavyweight Champion of the promotion James Storm debuted at Thursday night’s Nxt tapings for WWE. While the particulars of his deal were not disclosed, the idea that Storm was allowed to keep his name and gimmick from Tna is significant. WWE may actively want to push the 38-year old veteran’s storied championship background as a significant asset to his character, which would certainly aid in getting him over to the WWE Universe.

It’s completely understandable if you’re only tangentially aware of James Storm. While yes, Storm was a major superstar in Tna, as compared to WWE, Tna’s market recognition is quite low. However, Storm is a veteran blue-chipper whose talents have been co-signed by Steve Austin and Jim Ross, and he’s a rare talent who actually...

James Storm Makes WWE Debut At Nxt Tapings
WWE.com

Tna veteran James Storm debuted at WWE’s Nxt TV tapings from Full Sail University last night.

The former Tna Heavyweight Champion, who has spent 18 long years in the business, becomes a surprising WWE debutant at the age of 38 and just the latest name to have jumped from Tna’s sinking ship to WWE’s rising promotion. He signed with WWE after at least a week’s worth of talks, being spotted backstage and at ringside at events in recent days.

Like Samoa Joe before him this summer, Storm has been granted the privilege of wrestling under his recognised ring name. He defeated Nxt enhancement talent Danny Burch in a quick squash match using his Eye Of The Storm finisher.

Playing the babyface, Storm orchestrated a clap and cheer with the fans after the match, which you will be able to see on the October 21st Nxt show.

7 Reasons WWE Must Sign James Storm
ImpactWrestling.com

In July, 2015, James Storm ended his lengthy association with Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling. Stretching right back to the very first Tna show in June, 2002, Storm had been a part of the company. He was there when the promotion were little more than an upstart group looking to plug the gap left by WCW and Ecw. Storm was present during the best years of Tna’s existence, and the worst.

He was around when Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff promised to help the brand take that next step. Even when Tna shifted gears into ‘Impact Wrestling’, James Storm was a constant. Over the years, many of those who were with him from the get-go have left Tna. The likes of Aj Styles, for example, have long since decided to leave the once-promising promotion behind.

This Summer, Storm decided to do exactly the same thing. Since then, he hasn’t been seen all that much.

Tna Veteran James Storm Appears At WWE Nxt Show In Nashville
ImpactWrestling.com

On Friday evening, WWE Nxt held a house show in Nashville, Tennessee, the longtime hometown of Tna Wrestling. Surprisingly, Tna had a presence at the event, as “Cowboy” James Storm was sitting ringside.

Storm has been a member of the Tna roster since the company’s inception in 2002. His contract expired this year on June 30, but he has continued to appear for Tna on a per appearance deal.

Does his showing-up at the Nxt show in Nashville mean that a deal is in the works for Storm to sign a WWE contract? There is a possibility that is indeed the case, though it’s also possible that Storm could have just purchased a ticket to the event like any other fan.

He had tweeted about the event earlier this week, teasing that he might attend.

So @Wwenxt is in #Nashville this Friday…….

WWE And Tna: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (August 23)
WWE.com

SummerSlam is finally here! After all of those hot nights, kicks to the balls from future hall of famers and Demi Lovato videos, we’ve arrived at WWE’s second best show this weekend!

This week in wrestling, Dean Ambrose told us that “Luke Harper is like nothing we’ve ever seen in WWE before.” Really? Because the roster is full of heels who can’t back it up in the ring and lose 90% of the time. Or was he referring to his stained shirt? We also saw James Storm return to Impact this week…wait, he quit weeks ago and we’re still seeing him on TV?

Worst insult of the week? Take your pick. How about the returning Dolph Ziggler calling Rusev a “Bulgarian bonehead!” on Raw, or a “Bulgarian baboon” on SmackDown. Perhaps it was Big Show’s ill-conceived “Gender confused Jedi” dig at the Miz.

Tna Making Major Changes With Wrestler Contracts
ImpactWrestling.com

Tna Wrestling is changing the way they pay their performers because they are moving away from giving talents long term contracts and instead moving to more per appearance deals, according to PWInsider.

There were several performers that were informed of this new strategy over the last week. In some cases, Tna will pay talents a bit more per appearance than what they were getting before because it would make up for the loss of the guarantee deals and if Tna starts doing more live events then the wrestlers could get more money. Tna has stopped doing live events aside from one event in September in York, Pa.

The report from PWInsider claims that several performers aren’t happy about this new deal because they don’t want to see their guaranteed deals disappear.

It’s also a possibility that some wrestlers will turn down the terms of the...

Tna Telling Wrestlers They Are Looking For New TV Deal?
ImpactWrestling.com

The future of Tna Wrestling on American television remains very much in doubt with strong rumours that they will be removed from Destination American this September. New details from the Wrestling Observer state that Tna talents have apparently being told that the company is looking for a new TV deal.

It was also mentioned to Tna’s wrestlers that they don’t have to worry because the money that Tna makes from international deals will keep them going while they try to find a new television home in the United States.

Since Tna has trimmed most of the big contracts down and other high priced performers have left the company (James Storm, Austin Aries and Magnus are recent examples), they have at least made an effort to save some money. Wrestlers were also told that the company’s business model was changing, which likely means more “per appearance...

10 WWE Questions You Most Want Answered (June 28)
WWE.com

The biggest storyline in WWE this week was Seth Rollins getting some help from his friends in The Authority. The group worked together to slow down Brock Lesnar, who rarely takes a beating like the one he suffered on Raw. It was a good way to progress things in the WWE Title feud that will lead to Rollins defending his gold against Lesnar at WWE Battleground on July 19.

That return of the united Authority group continued on Smackdown when Big Show attacked Ryback with two Chokeslams during Ryback’s match with Kane. Perhaps this will mean that Big Show is back with The Authority as well. Smackdown ended with Rollins beating Dean Ambrose again, thanks in part to the distraction of Joey Mercury and Kane. Meanwhile, poor Jamie Noble is out with three broken ribs due to Lesnar being a bit too aggressive.

This Q&A is usually WWE-centric,...

Gunner Announces He Has Left Tna Wrestling
ImpactWrestling.com

Tna Wrestling has lost another performer as Gunner has exited the promotion.

He made the announcement by posting the following messages on Twitter regarding his departure from the company.

Thanks to all of Impact wrestling fans and the guys I worked with. Blessed to have worked with you (cont) http://t.co/N7dxh0DSnm

— Gunner (@TNA_GUNNER) June 19, 2015

Let that new chapter begin. I ain't worried. Now takin bookings. For info email shatter6682@gmail.com

— Gunner (@TNA_GUNNER) June 19, 2015

There’s no official word from Tna’s side of things, but it appears to be a situation where he had a contract coming up and simply isn’t staying around either by choice or because they wanted to move on. He hasn’t been featured on Tna television regularly for several months, so the move isn’t all that surprising.

Gunner first made a name for himself...

10 Worst Tna Angles Ever
impactwrestling.com

Tna courted controversy once again following a disturbing storyline last week. The angle saw James Storm push Mickie James from a train station platform onto the tracks, potentially killing off her character for good. Such a heavy-handed, insensitive incident has understandably sparked outrage among fans on social media, a reaction James herself responded to in confusing fashion. She described herself as “confused” and the angle as “out of her hands”, a response which doesn’t exactly shed light on the situation.

The angle is the latest in a long line of questionable Tna storylines, a string of poor writing which must be considered ridiculous at best (and downright offensive at worst). Throughout its history the promotion has offended many with its characteristically chaotic booking, often dealing with incredibly sensitive issues in a careless, callous manner.

Even storylines which aren’t outwardly offensive can often be viewed as a different type of affront,...

Tna 2016 UK Tour Tickets On Sale This Friday
ImpactWrestling.com

For the past seven years, Tna has brought its unique brand of action to the United Kingdom in what is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the company’s calendar. From what started as a small tour in places like Brentwood, Essex and Coventry, the annual tour has blossomed into a block of TV tapings in major arenas across the UK that both thrill Tna’s loyal UK following and make great looking television shows.

For 2016, Tna have announced that they’re going back to their roots with Maximum Impact 8, billed as the most “fan friendly tour” of all time, where backstage passes and other treats will be up for grabs for the loudest fans in each arena. As well as this, Tna have promised family friendly event timings, which one would presume means an earlier start and finish times, as well as a ticket pricing structure suitable for all budgets.

10 Things Tna Wants You To Forget About Abyss
impactwrestling.com

Abyss is one of Tna’s biggest, and longest-tenured stars; in fact, he and James Storm are the only wrestlers still on the roster that appeared on their very first show back in 2002. It’s been a long, bumpy road since then, and most of the company’s early stars like Aj Styles, Ron Killings, Alex Shelley, Petey Williams and even Jeff Jarrett have left for greener pastures, but the Monster appears to be in for the long haul.

He’s a real foundational figure, and his presence has been a constant, even as regime and roster changes have rocked the promotion. His loyalty is pretty puzzling, given some of the startlingly bad angles and matches Tna has stuck him in over the years.

He’s been both jilted lover and psychotic stalker, both innocent victim and malevolent beast. He’s been through more contrived family drama than...

Kurt Angle Returning To The UK As Part Of Tna’s January Tour
impactwrestling.com

Kurt Angle will return to the UK in late January, as part of Tna’s Maximum Impact 7 2015 Tour. Joining the Olympic Gold Medallist on the three date tour is Tna World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley and the talented British grappler Rockstar Spud.

The shows will take place in Glasgow on the 29th, Manchester on the 30th and London on the 31st. The exciting thing is, no matter which show you attend, all events will be TV tapings. That means the men and women of Impact Wrestling will be putting on some of the most exciting action you could possibly imagine. In particular, the London taping looks to be extra special, as it will feature the Ultimate X match.

One of the most appealing aspects of Impact Wrestling is the talent quality. Guys like Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, James Storm and Austin Aries are proper workers. They’ll all appear on the tour,...

10 Talents Tna Totally Dropped The Ball With
ImpactWrestling.com

Tna gets a lot of flack for taking talent WWE has fired. But they definitely don’t get the appreciation they deserve for building their own stars. Guys like Bobby Roode, Aj Styles, James Storm, Austin Aries, Samoa Joe, Magnus, and Eric Young have all been to the top of the mountain in Tna and have been great main eventers. Granted, some of the talent have made it big on the indies but Tna helped make them a household name and made them more familiar to the mainstream wrestling audience.

Tna also has a knack for taking a talent WWE has, some would say, misused, and make them into something you want to see. Take EC3 for example. Relegated to being a low card guy in WWE, he comes to Tna and shows he is worthy of the main event slot and worthy of a World Championship. Taryn Terrell...

Tna Tag Team Champion Suffers Broken Leg
Despite the wary nature of Tna as of late, the company continues to trek on. The promotion is currently in the midst of a tour of live events throughout the country. On August 15th, Tna stopped in Indiana, Pennsylvania with an estimated crowd of 300 to 400 in attendance.

The event saw Sanada overcome DJ Z in the opening contest. Other bouts on the card saw Madison Rayne defeat Angelina Love, James Storm triumph over Gunner, and Bobby Roode plant Magnus with a Roode Bomb for the three count.

The main event featured current Tna Tag Team Champions The Wolves facing off with the team of Devon and Mr. Anderson. Early in the contest something went wrong, as Davey Richards was obviously injured. He was taken to the back, leaving his partner Eddie Edwards to go it alone. That was until Abyss was added to the contest as Eddie’s partner. Ethan Carter...
