The latest Outlander episode is diverting stuff, but without much going on underneath the surface. Spoilers ahead in our review...

Have you ever gone to a party and it seems like everyone you've ever met is there? That was more or less the plot of tonight's Outlander, which saw Claire and Jamie finally arriving in Kingston, Jamaica and getting serious about their search for Young Ian. This led our favourite couple to the house of the city's governor, and to an extravagant gala... because what good is a period drama without an opulent party awkwardly built on the back of a slave trade to which the show's protagonists half-heartedly object?
But I'm getting ahead of myself.

And as promised, the couple celebrated the accomplishment together by posting a video in their birthday suits! "We are ready to give all of us to all of you!" Nikki enthusiastically says. Even though John still doesn't think...

John Cena has said for years that he doesn't want to be a father, but has he changed his mind? On Tuesday, newly engaged Nikki Bella sat down for an exclusive interview with E! News and she talked about the possibility of having kids with her fiancé John. When asked about starting a family, Nikki explained that she doesn't think about it because she knows John still doesn't want to become a dad. She revealed, "John had mentioned this a long time ago when he wanted to get married, he said, 'I just don't want you to ever think that if I want to marry you and I marry you that means that I want to be a father.'" Chrissy Teigen is spilling all of John Legend's secrets! The model—who was dressed like a "goddess" in Zuhair Murad—put her hubby on blast on the red carpet while chatting with Ryan Seacrest on E!'s Live From the Carpet. When the host asked about his upcoming performance of La La Land's Oscar-nominated songs, Chrissy jumped in to reveal her man's already feeling some jitters ahead of the 2017 Oscars. "He won't say it, but he's nervous," she said. "He's very nervous. There's a bit of piano medley happening tonight that he doesn't know if he can do." But John still tried to play it cool. Good-on I Am Not A Serial Killer for never bullshitting its audience. We don’t even get halfway into this Dan Wells adaptation before director Billy O’Brien addresses the elephant in his title. As the film suggests, O’Brien’s main character is not a serial killer, so why waste time teasing something that isn’t true when the film begins (but might be later)? Such a suggestive name plays directly into an unexpected story for those of us ignorant to Wells’ source novelization, without any momentum to waste. I like surprises, and this is one of the better ones a genre fan can ask for.

American Horror Story: Hotel delves into the past of Angela Bassett's character, Ramona Royale, in this week's ever-stylish episode...
This review contains spoilers.
5.3 Mommy
One of the many things American Horror Story is doing well this season is indulging in genre tropes. March's back story was accompanied by silent movie era film graphics and black and white film stock, and this episode's reveal of the history of Ramona Royale (Angela Bassett) is similarly fun. Rather than the silent era (or perhaps a very early talkie), Ramona is straight out of Quentin Tarantino's daydreams, a honky-blasting, gorgeous blaxploitation movie star supreme, and I mean that literally. Ramona Royale was a big B-movie star in her time, slapping around jive turkeys and sporting a boss baby Afro. It's a fun introduction to the character, who is very much a self-made woman, strong enough and beautiful enough to...

Yield Entertainment has released a new poster and stills for Jeremy Benson’s Girl in Woods. The latest thriller from the director of Shutter and Live Animals, the titular girl must battle nature and her own demons for her survival and sanity in a deserted part of the Appalachian Mountains. On his latest film, Benson said:
Girl in Woods was a passion project for us. The idea of doing an origin story to what would be a slasher film interested me, and being able to wrap that inside of a psychological thriller seemed to add a level of storytelling that, as a horror fan, I felt would be welcomed. This film is the birth of an urban legend; one of a mysterious savage that is believed to be killing people in the mountains. I want audiences to be disturbed by what is happening to Grace, and at the end understand...

Word about Girl in Woods, a new film from writer/director Jeremy Benson (Live Animals), landed in our inbox this week, and here to help you get through Hump Day are the first details and some early teaser art.
Benson's film, which is produced by Mark Williams, stars Juliet Reeves, Lee Perkins, Charisma Carpenter, Jeremy London, and the late John Still.
Perkins broke things down a bit for us cast-wise: "The lead (Grace) is played by Juliet. Charisma and I play the mom and dad to Grace when she was young, and John Still (who just passed away) plays the granddad. Jeremy London plays the grown-up Grace's boyfriend."
Check out the goods, including a bloody Charisma Carpenter in the bathtub, below; and while we wait for more, be sure to "like" Girl in Woods on Facebook.

Almost all of the "Sherlock" episode, "The Sign of Three" takes place during the wedding reception of John Watson and Mary Morstan. All of the action, in fact, becomes part of Sherlock Holmes' rather extraordinary wedding speech.
By the time Sherlock finally lets the crowd drink a toast, the detective has recounted two prior mysteries and deduced a new murder is coming. A few minutes later and those crimes are all connected.
Oh, and then Sherlock figures out that John and Mary are about to become parents. Holmes really does know how to make good use of his time at a wedding, doesn't he?
The elephant in the room, but not 'The Elephant in the Room'
First, let's get this out of the way: Dr. John Watson does indeed get married in "The Sign of Three." The ceremony ends before most of the episode even begins, with all of...

The "Sherlock" Season 3 does the near-impossible: Sherlock Holmes comes back from the dead. He and Watson even manage to get passed that little death issue as well, even if it does take **another brush or two with doom to inspire it.
Also, Sherlock likes Mary Morstan, Watson's fiancee. "The Empty Hearse" really is the most impossible episode of a crazy show. But somehow it all works.
How to fake a death ... three different ways
When the producers of "Sherlock" said that they had worked out exactly how Holmes had faked his death, they weren't kidding. There isn't just one explanation for how the detective fooled the world: There are three.
The first explanation comes right at the beginning of the episode, from the mouth of Lestrade's odd, ex-detective friend. According to this guy, Sherlock strapped on a bungee cord and bounced through Molly Hooper's window instead of dying. Mycroft's people,...

After five-plus seasons of the Cbi and Red John, "The Mentalist" needed to take a beat before settling into its new reality. While Patrick Jane, Lonely Expatriate Do-Gooder, might not be the stuff that series are made of, it was necessary to give Jane some distance from his previous quest.
In that respect, Sunday's (Dec. 1) episode, "My Blue Heaven," did exactly what it was supposed to do. By jumping ahead two years and removing Jane to an island, where he has cut off most of his ties with his former life, it allows for as clean a break with the Red John story as is possible.
Of course, the ramifications of his killing Red John still linger. Jane is a fugitive, and of his former Cbi colleagues, only Cho is doing something remotely like what he used to by having joined the FBI. Libson is still in law enforcement, but...

So we went straight to the source to get the dish on this first season of Tomorrow People from executive producers Greg Berlanti and Phil Klemmer. And while they kept the goods locked up tighter than Jedikiah’s biomedical Ultra compound, we were able to get a few juicy details. Like, when are we going to get more of those shirts off? Check it out.
But beware of Spoilers…..

Warning: Do not read this post if you haven’t watched the season premiere of The Mentalist.
At the end of last season of The Mentalist, we narrowed down the list of Red John suspects to seven. And by the end of tonight’s premiere, that number had changed.
Yup, Rip Partridge. He was the first suspect to fall. But will Lisbon (Robin Tunney) be the next victim? Read on for our chat with executive producer Bruno Heller.
Entertainment Weekly: Obviously, you started off the season big by killing off one of the suspects right away. Tell me about the decision to kill Partridge first.

Like a defibrillator cranked up to the highest possible voltage, Rossini's William Tell Overture is slapped on to this film twice – at first briefly, then for a while. It results in something that isn't exactly a gallop, more like the protracted convulsive thrashings of a dead horse with its hoof jammed in the electric socket. Hearing the theme is always enjoyable (specifically, the Overture's fourth "Finale" movement), and maybe it's as well to reassert a wholesome association with the Lone Ranger, his horse, Silver, and his trusty guide, Tonto – and get away from the thought of Malcolm McDowell having sped-up sex with two women in Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. Gregg Wallace may look like he needs an extra helping of custard with his puddings these days, but other than the greengrocer-turned-tv-shouter's new slimline physique, very little has changed in the world of Celebrity MasterChef.
Gregg and John still drop innuendoes like Carry On films never went out of fashion ("I love the flavour of your dumplings Heidi!" *raised eyebrow, Harry Hill sideways look to camera*) and there is serious tension over whether a chicken is moist enough or if a spider crab has been chopped up correctly. Business as usual then.
Whether it's Celebrity, Professional or the vintage standard, non-famous, non-pro MasterChef, it barely makes a difference. Not only do they blur into one in the schedules, not only do the celebs barely register on the average Joe's showbiz radar, they're also so ridiculously similar in format and style that you'd be forgiven for not knowing which version of...

On Wednesday's Southland (series?) finale, the entire Los Angeles Police Department will be fighting for one of their own.
This season's harrowing penultimate episode saw John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz) and his partner Henry Lucero (Anthony Ruvivar) kidnapped by drug addicts. By the end of the hour, Lucero was dead and Cooper only escaped after playing dead in a grave he'd dug for himself. Wednesday's episode (10/9c, TNT) picks up about three weeks later, and while John still hasn't been cleared to carry a gun and return to active duty, the rest of the force, including detetcives Adams (Regina King) and Robinson (Dorian Missick) are searching for the tweakers. "Cops don't go missing all the time, so when they do, it's a huge deal," Cudlitz tells TVGuide.com...

Because maybe John Mayer's career is going to be so burning hot when he kicks off his tour in July that maybe he wouldn't even have enough time to have a girlfriend, and that's why he broke up with his lady love, Katy Perry. Allegedly. Here's what "a well-placed source" told E! about the situation:"John still very much loves her and has feelings for her. It was just going to be too much with what was on his plate." This is just thinking ahead, really. John knows that he'so going to be way too busy singing "Your Body Is A Wonderland" every night to give Katy the attention she deserves. That's what this whole thing is about. And sure, John could probably meet some new ladies on the road, but that's not what this is about. It's good that they'll be there to soothe his lovesick heart though,...

John Mayer recently admitted that "coupling is a tricky thing." But why did it ultimately prove too tricky for him and Katy Perry? It turns out their trying-to-be-private-yet-high-profile relationship fell prey to the same pitfall as many a celebrity hookup—competing hectic schedules. "John still very much loves her and has feelings for her," a well-placed source exclusively tells E! News. "It was just going to be too much with what was on his plate." On the 35-year-old musician's plate at the moment is his first tour in three years, kicking off July 6 in Milwaukee. But, speaking of those tricky couplings, Mayer is scheduled to perform with Brad Paisley...

The third episode of Last Tango in Halifax starts with a bang, with our so-put-together Caroline almost veering her family into the abyss as she drives erratically down a ridiculously gorgeous country road, screaming, “I’m having a nervous bloody breakdown!”
Clearly, I am in love with this episode already!
And it only gets better from here: there are fights, tears, sex, embers of lesbian hope, ghosts and haunted houses, and arson all still to come, resulting in the best episode yet. I know we’ve only recapped three episodes so far, but still, it’s the best one yet!
Caroline’s in such a frenzied state due to the debacle where we left off last episode, when it was revealed that her husband, John, let his mistress Judith into their house. Younger Loyal-to-my-Dad Son is giving her a hard time in the car, asking...

Johnny Galecki is a young man who knew he was destined to be an actor as early as age four. His mother, Mary-Lou reported during an interview in People magazine that when Johnny was four years old he informed her "Mom, I'm gonna be on TV, and I don't mean when I grow up". Today he is appearing as Leonard Hofstadter in the CBS hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory (TV) John Mark Galecki was born on April 30th in Bree, Belgium. His star sign is Taurus. A trend amongst feature film directors seems to be a lot more common today. I should specify live-action feature film directors, in that many of the makers of animated features are going on to direct real flesh and blood actors. This is not new since one of the most prolific comedy directors from the late 40′s through the mid 60′s was Frank Tashlin, who directed several short cartoons while a regular at ’ Termite Terrace ’ , the home of ” Looney Tunes” and ” Merrie Melodies “. Recently, the results of this big jump have been mixed. The mastermind of several Pixar smash hits, Brad Bird, scored with Mission Impossible : Ghost Protocol, while another Pixar alum, Andrew Stanton, was at the helm of one of this year’s most notorious flops, John Carter. And now, stepping into a new arena, is Seth MacFarlane with Ted. He’s not made any feature films before, but...

This week was, as Chris Harrison told the Potential Future Husbands, "by far the biggest week." Hometown dates were coming up and the guys were giving it their all to impress Emily. They anxiously monologued at her, went in for kisses no matter how painfully awkward, and even let declarations of love flow out of their desperate mouths.
1-on-1 With Arie
Emily again toted around a tour book in an attempt to look competent. And she wore lacy glitter shorts because she has her life-savings in sequins stock. Arie wore a blazer with elbow patches. I don't know why.
The came upon a bronzed plaque that was supposed to bring love, if you rubbed the woman on it, and loyalty, if you rubbed the dog. (And if you rubbed both at the same time, a dog would fall in love with you.) Emily confided to us, "It's weird to rub...

In a seasonal confluence, the movie Prometheus opens today, just as Book Expo America (Bea) ends. In 1979, I saw the first Alien at a screening in Los Angeles at the American Booksellers Association convention, the precursor to Bea.
Aba (as it was known) is the professional convention for the publishing industry. Publishers have booths with which to show their upcoming titles, and booksellers from all over the country come to see what will fill their shelves. It’s a grand event where books are glamorous, authors are rock stars, and librarians are courted. It’s changed over the years – they are even experimenting with letting consumers in this year – but it remains a celebration of ideas and literacy.
It was my first time at Aba, but the man who would be my husband was an old hand. He’d been going since 1963, when he was 12 years old. His father had...

Shannon, Caroline White As quickly and unexpectedly as Amanda (Amy Lavere) decides to move in with her long distance boyfriend, Richard (Kentucker Audley), she runs away from Richard even faster. She never seems to understand her own motives in escaping out of Richard's bathroom window, it is just something she does. From the get-go, it seems as though Amanda bases her decisions upon intuition alone, seemingly with no rhyme or reason to justify them. This is Amanda's modus operandi, but her knack for whimsical decision making has left her living out of her Mercedes Benz as if it is an armoire on wheels. Amanda describes herself as a silly girl who does not know what she wants; someone who is stuck at a fork in the road of life.

Jane's little white lies are starting to come back on him. How long did he really think he could make Agent Darcy (Catherine Dent) believe that he'd really killed the Dark Lord, Red John? While Red John might be the B plot of this episode, the A plot revolves around the fashion design world, Chinese mob and some models and photographers who don't have a real good grasp on reality. Jane (Simon Baker) arrives on the scene of the murder of Wyck Theissens – who picks these names? – a local fashion guru who's been stabbed with a pair of scissors. He discovers Wyck's secret room of pretty dresses in the loft, and Lisbon (Robin Tunney) wonders why he'd hide his couture and why there was a gold feather shoved in his mouth. The owner of the warehouse where Wyck's loft is, Mr. Lu, is skittish about helping the cops, which is...

Patrick Jane has been struggling to keep his wits in recent episodes of The Mentalist. With Red John still at large, the widower has proved he’s increasingly willing to make questionable decisions in order to keep his secret, which he has thus far only shared with Lisbon (Robin Tunney). But star Simon Baker is enjoying the ride into the darker parts of Jane’s psyche. “It’s always difficult when you’re on a show that goes for more than a year or a couple of years. This is our fourth season I’m always looking for things that...

Did anyone actually care about the murder case this week? I know I didn't. "Little Red Book" was all about the shifting relationships of these characters and where they're headed next.
The world is still off its axis for our Cbi crew. Jane is allowed back as a consultant, but his team is disbanded and Lisbon is facing termination. Bertram has to blame someone for the Red John debacle and he's putting it all on Teresa's tiny shoulders.
When Patrick visits Teresa at her home, she's handling it well. As usual she's strong and downright stoic. She says she'll be fine. Of course she will, because Jane is determined to save her.
In a secret meeting, Jane implores Cho, Rigsby, and Grace to help with his plan to save Lisbon. The only one to balk is Rigsby. He's always been the weasel of the group. He threw Cho under the...

For fans of Luther, the galvanizing British police procedural, the second season comes back strong and with a vengeance. It is a no-holds-barred intense drama with thrilling mystery and agonizing moral dilemmas. The first episode flawlessly weaves the stories of a serial killer seeking his 15-minutes of fame by staging random murders, the life of young call-girl who may or may not need saving, and a sociopath who identifies so strongly with our hero, that she will literally do anything for him — including stalking the killer he hunts.
Luther revitalized standardized story-telling by upping the ante in its first season; for Luther has never been afraid to peer into the darkness and see what peers back.
John Luther (Idris Elba) is a broken cop haunted by the sins of his past and the criminal monsters that won’t let his soul rest. Traumatized by his inner demons, Luther struggled for...

John Wayne Cleaver is back in this third (and final?) novel in the series by Dan Wells. Like I Am Not A Serial Killer and Mr. Monster, this serial-killer obsessed sixteen year-old, the sociopathic, emotionless, yet some how extremely lovable kid who works and lives in a mortuary, continues his battles with the supernatural elements that seem to be on par with the Hellmouth of Sunnydale.
It’s been a few months since the events of Mr. Monster, a time of quite reflection on the events of the previous six months where two killers, demons, have been haunting Clayton County. John’s ever increasing anxiety over who will come to his town in search of revenge for his acts of destroying the two previous monsters, feeds his increasing desire to kill, hurt and otherwise do harm. All he knows is the demon is called Nobody, and because these creatures can...

Is John still married? Did he try to seduce Gaby or another Wisteria Lane citizen? Answers coming up after the jump, along with my take on John's return, which was first rumored to happen in the season five finale.
