The long-awaited return of Ratchet & Clank on PlayStation 4 has been marked with an official date. April 12 will see Sony’s most famous duo return in a re-imagined version of their very first outing all those years ago on PlayStation 2. It’s been well over a decade since the anthropomorphic Ratchet and his trusted, robotic ally Clank first graced our TV screens, and hopefully the time off they’ve taken hasn’t soured our memories of them.
Speaking on the official European PlayStation blog, developer Insomniac Games community leader James Stevenson said:
Hey Ratchet & Clank fans, today we’re thrilled to announce that you’ll be able to pre-order Ratchet & Clank from… right this very moment, ahead of its launch on 15th April in France, and 20th April everywhere else in the Pal region. Check out the new packshot art below, directly from the artists at Insomniac Games, pretty cool, right?...

Ratchet & Clank looks gorgeous in the first ever gameplay trailer for the upcoming PS4 release.
The brand new PS4 trailer features a brief look at the upcoming animated movie, before launching into gameplay footage for the very first time.
In a post on the PlayStation blog, Insomniac community lead James Stevenson said that the studio didn't want to simply "up-res" Ratchet & Clank for PS4.
"We started out thinking of Ratchet & Clank (PS4) as a 're-imagining' of the 2002 original, revised to tie in with the deeper version of Ratchet's origin story as seen in the film," he said.
"We envisioned a curated Ratchet & Clank experience that borrowed from the spirit of the classic PS2 titles while infusing some of the best elements from the Ratchet & Clank Future games."
The studio ended up with an entirely new game with elements based on the original.
Fans can expect new modern controls, new planets,...

A re-imagining of PS2 classic platformer/shoot-em-up Ratchet & Clank was announced for PS4 last year, but little in the way of information has been revealed since then. Well, other than it’s been delayed to Spring 2016 to coincide with the Ratchet movie, anyway.
That changed today as PlayStation Blog EU posted the brand new trailer courtesy of Insomniac (check it out below).
James Stevenson, Community Lead for Insomniac Games writes:
Hey everyone. We know Ratchet & Clank, Insomniac Games, and PlayStation fans have been waiting to get a glimpse of Ratchet & Clank for PlayStation 4. We’re excited to bring you that first look today ahead of its playable debut on the showfloor of E3 next week.
In this trailer, you’ll see a few glimpses of footage from the film, and then your first-ever look at gameplay footage directly from the game coming exclusively to PS4. Check it out above.

Austin-based company Mondo has risen to glory in the last few years, designing one cool movie poster after another and even doing the same for some TV shows. Now, EW is excited to share the first-ever Mondo video game poster, a very cool image designed to capture the insane wonder of Insomniac Games’ buzzy, hyperkinetic actioner Sunset Overdrive.

Insomniac Games has attached a release date to its upcoming space-set adventure, Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus. Priced at an eye-catching $30, the game has been slated to launch exclusively on the PlayStation 3 on November 12th. In keeping with the quirky legacy of the franchise, the studio assured fans that the game will herald a fresh arsenal of ludicrous weapons and will ultimately serve as a swan song to the PS3 era.
Here’s what Insomniac Games’ community lead James Stevenson had to say:
“Some of you have asked us why we made a shorter Ratchet game. The truth is, we relished this ability to tie a bow on the PS3 era of Ratchet with a shorter title. All of us love the Ratchet universe–and after 12 years developing the series, it feels like a very close friend. We have a lot of stories to tell, some longer, some shorter. This one felt just right.

Ratchet & Clank is to be given a movie, it has been revealed.
Developer Insomniac has released a teaser for the film, announcing it is bringing the gaming series to cinemas in 2015.
CG studios Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment will be behind the film, while Insomnaic will play a hands-on role with production, the screenplay, character development and animation consulting.
"One of the biggest questions we've gotten in the last few years is, 'When are you going to make a Ratchet & Clank movie?'" said senior community manager James Stevenson.
"The truth is, we've wanted to do a movie for a long time! Ratchet & Clank's action, humour and galaxy-spanning adventures have really been the basis for a fantastic game series, and we think it'd translate perfectly to the big screen."
The last game in the series, Ratchet & Clank: QForce, was released on PS3 last year and will soon receive a Ps Vita version.

The recent Ratchet & Clank Collection for the PS3 contained all three of the franchises’ original PlayStation 2 installments, but there was a notable omission, that being 2005′s fourth entry Ratchet: Deadlocked.
Finally, fans of the series can stop asking where it is, as at a recent Pax Ratchet & Clank panel, developer Insomniac Games’ community lead James Stevenson confirmed that the game will be getting its own re-release as a downloadable title on the PlayStation Network.
Ratchet: Deadlocked made some departures from previous games, including relegating Clank to a non-playable character, a darker atmosphere, and a greater emphasis on shooting and online play. Perhaps these differences made Sony think that it didn’t fit in with the first three games.
Whatever the reasoning is, Idol Minds, the same developers behind the collection’s remastering, is also hard at work on converting Deadlocked into a PlayStation 3 title for a currently unspecified release date sometime later this year.

When it comes to little kids, scary stories are tough. Finding that balance of fun frightening without freaking them out can be difficult. Just in time for Halloween, Scholastic Storybook Treasures released a new DVD collection Teeny-Tiny and the Witch Woman...and more spooky Halloween stories, and unfortunately, Scholastic did not hit the right balance.
There are five stories in the collection including Teeny-Tiny and the Witch Woman by Barbara K. Walker, The Boy with Two Shadows by Margaret Mahy, Los Gatos Black on Halloween by Maris Montes, What's Under My Bed? by James Stevenson, and King of the Cats by Paul Galdone. The first story is a lot like Hansel and Gretel with siblings who are lured into a witch's house, except in this case it is three brothers instead of a brother and sister.

"Resistance 3" looms in the early portion of this fall's onslaught of game releases, and for fans of the franchise, you're probably getting anxious to play the game. There was a single-player demo released last month – if you purchased the "Battle Los Angeles" Blu-ray – but if you're excited to dive in to online multiplayer, Sony says your wait is almost over. Early access to the "Resistance 3" open beta begins on August 4.
Insomniac Games' community manager, James Stevenson, took to the PlayStation Blog today to shed some light on how to get into the "Resistance 3" multiplayer "public" beta. I place quotations around the word public, because the beta isn't exactly open – at least not yet.
Starting sometime on August 4, those of you who received beta codes in specially-marked packages of "Socom 4," can jump into the beta. Just input the code through your Xmb, and you're good to go. Never leaving behind their premium subscribers,...

Video game developer Insomniac has expressed disappointment with the negative fan reaction to Resistance 2. According to Videogamer, the sequel, which received positive reviews, was not such a hit with long-term fans. Insomniac's senior community manager James Stevenson said that the reaction from fans was similar to "your dog turning on you". "Resistance 2 got better reviews than Resistance 1, but the long-term fan feedback from that game weighed on me," he said. "So (more)...

What makes a "Ratchet & Clank" game tick? The humor? The strange new worlds? Captain Qwark? While we'd certainly argue the latter, one would be hard-pressed to not mention the massive (and oftentimes hilarious) arsenal of gadgets and weapons at our Lombax hero's fingertips. We all have our favorite weapons, but I decided to ping the team at Insomniac to find out what new guns appearing in "A Crack in Time" are their personal picks. So what new destructive force took the cake?
Coming in at number 5… the Rift Inducer 5000.
Rift Inducer 5000 - Guess who's coming for dinner?
"The Rift Inducer 5000 is definitely one of the more fantastical weapons we've done in Ratchet & Clank. It's effective, it's tactical, and it's absolutely hilarious to watch. What's there not to like about a gun that rips a hole in the universe and summons a bloodthirsty, tentacled monster named Fred?"
