The new season of "Doctor Who" has begun (both here and in the UK), and after posting a bunch of interviews with Matt Smith, Alex Kingston and Karen Gillan, I finally have a review of the premiere coming up just as soon as we've done Jim the Fish... "That most certainly is the Doctor, and he is most certainly dead." -Canton Everett Delaware III Well, that was a hell of a thing. On a purely technical level, "The Impossible Astronaut" was about the best I've ever seen a "Doctor Who" episode look. The original series dabbled in location filming a handful...

With Steven Moffat taking the reigns of the longest running sci-fi program ever, it only seemed fitting that everything would get a complete overhaul. New Doctor, new Tardis, new companions, new friends and threats, and of course, new music. Enter our old friend Murray Gold, who changes things up for Matt Smith’s tenure in the classic role. Right from the start, we he lets us know this isn’t the same Doctor Who we’ve been watching for the last five years. The theme song was the first thing to be revamped, given, as Gold puts it, a 'reckless' sound. While Tennant was the most human Doctor since Peter Davison wore a cricketer’s uniform, Smith’s Doctor was one of the most alien. He had the cunning of Troughton, the impatience of Colin Baker, the mystery of McCoy, and a bow tie. And the new score had to...

As the USA wraps up the first airing of season 5, Caleb looks back at the high spots...
I won’t lie to you, dear reader, I wept like a little girl with a skinned knee when I heard that David Tennant was leaving Doctor Who. I watched his final specials with that feeling of bittersweet joy, knowing that it was indeed leading to his last moments in the role (not that Rtd would let us forget, what with people knocking and songs ending and the like). And so we were left with months of angst as we saw production photos of some fellow named Matt Smith in a bowtie, and wondering if he was really going to be “The Doctor”. Thankfully, he was! From his first few minutes in The Eleventh Hour, he proved himself. After finally seeing the finale for his first series, I’ve comprised a list of my favorite moments,...

Here we go, or should that be Geronimo(?), with the new series ending last Saturday here in the UK I figured it was about time I went back and watched it all over again and brought you the chaotic mess of thoughts that would follow.
Two things before you read all of this, I thought David Tennant was brilliant but I thought his departure was drawn out and by the end of it almost wanted him gone. This is no reflection on him though more on the production, I mean 20 minutes of his last episode were dedicated to his regeneration. I also really wished people wouldn’t judge Matt Smith on his first seconds in The End of Time yet so many people did.
So, without further ado…
The Eleventh Hour
My Thoughts: It had been a long wait for this. Many had criticised his ten seconds on screen, many others hadn’t.

Future Doctor Who Matt Smith isn't the only British actor in Cannes this week, and TOgether isn't the only british movie in contention for an award. As such our shade-wearing intrepid future Time Lord is among friends, in particular Harry Treadaway who stars in Fish Tank, a feature-length drama that also stars Michael Fassbender (Hex, Murphy's Law, 300) that is interestingly directed by Andrea Arnold, former kids TV presenter from the 1980s Saturday morning show Number 73. True. So what...
