The so-called “Strictly curse” has been a tabloid mainstay for at least a decade, founded on the idea that participating on Strictly Come Dancing (whether as a celebrity or a professional dancer) threatens the status of the relationship you’re in when you sign up.
Stories of its destructive power arrive like clockwork each winter. Along with forgotten B-listers and stars of Holby City and/or EastEnders hitting the dance floor, hysterical headlines will report on Strictly duos left so erotically charged in pasodoble rehearsals that they dump their spouses.
Presenter Claudia Winkleman has repeatedly shot down the curse, once saying that it’s less a supernatural occurrence as merely the Strictly experience being “intoxicating”. It is also true that dancing is an obvious aphrodisiac. Regardless whether you're rehearsing an intimate routine or not, dancing releases endorphins and makes you happy (it’s science!). The 36-year-old Italian professional dancer tied the knot in Co Monaghan's Castle Leslie, with guests including former Strictly partners Louisa Lytton, Dani Harmer and Edwina Currie, and ex-I'm a Celebrity stars David Emanuel, Matthew Wright and Rebecca Adlington.
Speaking about seeing his bride for the first time, an emotional Simone enthused to Hello: "I felt incredibly emotional and was worried I wouldn't keep it together. I couldn't look back at Susan as she walked up the aisle because I was afraid I would dissolve into tears.
"She looked so beautiful, really breathtaking."
The couple - who have two young children together - told the publication that their first dance was to Ronan Keating's 'This I Promise You', with Simone adding that Susan suggested he perform it with one of his Strictly ex-partners.

Former MP Edwina Currie spiced up the jungle with her frank sex chat and honest camp conversations – but the 68-year-old couldn't be more happy to be back in the real world.
Sipping a Diet Coke by the pool of the plush Palazzo Versace, Edwina opens up about her experiences on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!:
How are you feeling, Edwina?
"Right now, I feel tired. You don't get enough sleep in there. I'm a bit spaced out, too. But I'm terribly pleased. I think it went very well. I lasted far longer than I thought I would. I was quite convinced I'd be the first out. Remember in Strictly, I was the first out? I was gutted about that. This time, I thought, 'You know what? With this crowd, I will be the first out but it will be fine.' But here I am. I survived.

Steve Davis has been voted out of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
The snooker legend becomes the fifth celebrity to exit following last night's double eviction that saw Matthew Wright and Vincent Simone leave.
Davis explained that he'd really enjoyed his time in camp, saying to Ant and Dec: "The fun part for me was camp life. So much fun. I haven't stopped laughing."
He was also played back the clip where he stumbled into water before his Bushtucker Trial had even begun.
When asked what the hardest thing to overcome in camp was, Davis said: "My own stupidity. My own lack of common sense around camp."
He also spoke about the mood in camp, saying how it had changed since each contestant won an email from their loved ones.
"After the emails last night I think the camp morale is even stronger and we all feel for each other,...

Vincent Simone and Matthew Wright have been voted out of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
The pair become the third and fourth celebrities to leave the jungle this year, following the exits of Annabel Giles and Laila Morse.
Asked by Ant and Dec how it felt to be voted out, Simone said: "It feels good. I had my time, my experience and I'm happy. I was going to be happy either way. It's weird now that I've left them. "
Wright added: "It's great to go out with him (Simone). There's certain people in the camp you get very special to and this is one of them."
Meanwhile, the former Strictly star said that the experience was "better" than he had expected.
"I have to say when I joined the first day I had a little panic attack, but now after the last few days I can say I really loved it.

The duo then discovered that they were separated by a huge ravine and Simone had to use flags to signal the way to the dingo dollars.
The Strictly Come Dancing professional was forced to walk a high wire over the ravine to a platform, but was so scared that he started shaking and said: "I'm a little bit scared to be honest with you. I'm sweating."

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! stars won a chance to spend the night in the Jungle Arms recently.
The celebrities were split into teams and took part in a quiz called 'If You Don't Know Me By Now' to win the chance to visit the camp pub, while Laila Morse chose a gold ball from a tombola drum to become the quiz master - who automatically won a ticket.
The blue team consisted of David Emanuel, Joey Essex, Rebecca Adlington, Steve Davis and Vincent Simone, while their rivals, the red team, were Kian Egan, Alfonso Ribeiro, Amy Willerton, Lucy Pargeter and Matthew Wright.
Among the questions were what style of dance Simone is famous for, which year Princess Diana wore the dress Emanuel designed, and which soap Egan's wife was in.
The blue team ended up winning, meaning that they were able to visit the Jungle Arms with Morse.

The remaining I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! campmates have reflected on Annabel Giles's departure from the show last night (December 1).
The former model became the first celebrity to be voted out of this year's series, after spending ten days in the jungle.
Westlife star Kian Egan admitted that he found her exit "a bit upsetting", as she "really didn't want to leave". He suggested that she should have received one of the immunity tokens in recent days.
Emmerdale's Lucy Pargeter praised Giles, adding that she is a "very smart, quick and no-nonsense lady".
Vincent Simone - who entered the camp with Giles - was reduced to tears by her departure.
He said: "I didn't think I was going to be this upset. The fact that me and Annabel joined the camp together obviously made us closer together. Nobody will ever know what it's like to be in that situation.

Vincent Simone says yes. Annabel Giles says no. It's the question on everybody's lips - is Amy Willerton being picked on in the I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! jungle?
From this viewer's point of view, it's hard to come to any other conclusion than, well, yes, kind of. Amy seems like quite a charming young girl - quite switched on, eager and willing to participate in Trials (she hasn't really had even a hint of a whine), and generally rather sweet. So why all the comments from some of the other campmates?
If you listen to Annabel, the tension all began over that contraband concealer. If that was the case, we could understand it somewhat; while it would hardly be the decent thing for all of the contestants to mutter openly about Amy's betrayal right in front of her and leave her feeling isolated, we'd understand how...

Adlington - who was chosen by her campmates to take part in the 'Drown Under' challenge - admitted that she was nervous before taking on the test.
"It's my first Trial," she said. "It's the first time I've ever done one. I feel pressure because it's my campmates who put me up. It's not the public. It's the rest of the camp who are relying on me to bring back the goods. I think instantly when we heard the name 'Drown Under' they went, 'Water!' and everyone turned around to me straight away."
Adlington had to climb into a tank to move stars through a maze, but the tank was filling with water and creatures such as crocodiles, yabbies, water lizards, eels, mud crabs and water spiders.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star Vincent Simone has suggested that his campmate Amy Willerton is being "picked on".
Willerton was the subject of attention in camp recently when some of the contestants wondered if she still had some contraband items in her possession.
Rebecca Adlington claimed that Willerton had shown her some concealer, while Lucy Pargeter said: "Oh my God, that's really upset me. That has really pissed me off, that has. We could have lost food. If one of us is selfish, the rest of us suffer. That's not right, not right, at all. We are all in this together."
Some of Pargeter's comments were said in earshot of Willerton, while Adlington spoke about the scandal in the Bush Telegraph.

We don't think we've seen anything quite as revolting as the shiny and pink offal glistening inside the limo during the latest Bushtucker Trial on I'm a Celebrity last night.
Lucy Pargeter took part in 'Limo Scream' and successfully secured 10 out of 12 stars during the stomach-churning task, which involved hunting for tokens under offal and a variety of nasties within the stretch limousine.
So we've decided to remind ourselves of other nausea-inducing challenges and trials that perhaps went a step too far on I'm a Celebrity.
Close your mouth for the love of God, Joe Pasquale!
The poor comedian had sopping wet rats clambering all over his face and neck as he was submerged in water during the 'Danger Down Under' trial on I'm a Celebrity back in 2004. Look at its wet, pesky paws all over his goggles! And its fat grey tail creeping down his shirt.
Stuff of nightmares.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has joked that Vincent Simone is giving the show a bad name during his time on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
Horwood quipped that Simone needs more "decorum" during his stay in the jungle after he paraded around in his underwear recently.
"I think he needs to get a little bit of decorum and remember where he came from - BBC One, Strictly Come Dancing, all full of class, style and grace," Simone said on a webchat with The Sun. "Then there's Vincent Simone letting the entire outfit down by wearing little leopard-skin pants.
"I did see that and I thought, 'Oh please'. They could have at least been something nicer."

I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! star Vincent Simone dressed up as a spider to take on the latest Dingo Dollar challenge.

If there's one thing guaranteed to happen in the jungle, it's the free-flowing of tears from frustrated celebrities on I'm a Celebrity.
Last night's show saw Amy Willerton welling up after a row with campmates over her apparent excessive snoozing.
Lucy Pargeter and Steve Davis observed how much she slept in the camp, with Davis reminding the model: "Do you remember those words you said on day one? You said to me you only need three hours' sleep a night."
Cue Willerton breaking down in the Bush Telegraph and blubbing: "I was lying in my hammock and was just thinking of everything, I am really sensitive but this was the first time I've felt really upset by the way someone's been towards me in camp, it all turned into a whirlwind of emotion and I felt really upset with myself because if I have upset someone in camp I really didn't mean to.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star Vincent Simone has been banned from weeing in camp.
Simone's fellow contestants took a hard line with the Strictly Come Dancing pro after he revealed earlier this week that he had a midnight tinkle nearby to avoid going all the way to the dunny.
"You can't wee in camp," Lucy Pargeter said. "I don't care. Vincent, no weeing in camp. Because it brings the rats and things. They want to scent over the scent."
She later added: "No, no, no, you can't wee in camp. Would you wee in your house apart from in your toilet?"
Simone - who admitted that he was scared about going to the dunny in the dark - said: "Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to do pee pees on the trees anymore. The scent of my smell is unbelievable. The mouses love it."

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star Vincent Simone has admitted that he's struggling to get used to going to the toilet in the jungle.
Speaking to David Emanuel recently, the Strictly Come Dancing pro explained that he had to get up and "do a pee pee" in the middle of the night.
"I couldn't see anything, so I had to go over there," he revealed. "It's terrible. I wish my penis was longer so I don't have to get up and walk - I could just go from here."
Simone also seemed envious of one of his campmates, saying: "Alfonso doesn't have that problem. For him it's like fishing."
However, Simone wasn't the only one struggling with calls of nature in the jungle, as Laila Morse bemoaned the lack of privacy in camp.

Steamy jungle showers, Vincent Simone's indecently skimpy shorts and Matthew Wright in a small bikini - I'm a Celebrity has already thrown up a host of sexy and downright silly moments so far, and we're barely a week into the series.

1. Matthew Wright's itsy bitsy, teeny weeny... white bikini
Matthew Wright did a Myleene Klass and worked a teeny weeny, white bikini while enjoying a shower in the jungle.
The Wright Stuff host revealed his skimpy two piece to a bewildered Joey Essex, before announcing: "The papers always want to know who's going to do the Myleene white bikini moment and [are] maybe wondering if it's going to be Amy or Lucy. But I can let you into a little secret, Joey, that this year's white bikini moment is coming from a fella.

New I'm a Celebrity contestant Annabel Giles has complained that female TV stars are forgotten about once they are over the age of 45.
The 54-year-old broadcaster said that she hoped appearing on the ITV reality show would help her represent older women that are being ignored by producers and TV execs.
"It really is true with older people, especially women, that they are not seen on the television," said Giles.
"I would love to start an opening for older people. When you get to 45, it's as if you are never heard again. It is awful. It is like having the carpet whipped away from your feet. I would like to do more TV so other older people can do television.
"It is not representative of society at all. There are lots of older ladies around who are perfectly capable. I know we have wrinkles but we don't lose our marbles at 50. It's mad.

"So when I go in the jungle, hopefully people will realise that I am emotional."

Speaking about Essex's jungle flirting with Amy Willerton, Argent said: "She's lovely... I am a bit jealous, yeah. If it doesn't work out with them two hopefully he'll introduce me to her after.
"She's naturally pretty, she's well spoken - a bright girl."

Annabel Giles and Vincent Simone have joined I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
The pair are set to enter the jungle tomorrow (November 22), little after the two camps Croc Creek and Snake Rock merged.
Giles, a former model who has previously appeared on Through The Keyhole, Shooting Stars and Have I Got News For You, admitted that she has a phobia of camping but said she wants to show "posh people" in a better light.
"It's a chance to have some me time," the 54-year-old revealed. "It is a weird way to have 'me' time but actually, I do think it will be better than going to a health spa as I couldn't bear lounging around in towelling dressing gowns. This will be exciting for me.
"I would like to dispel the rumours that all posh people are like David Cameron and George Osborne. Hopefully I can restore a bit of popularity.
