Pauly Shore once again addressed his in-development Richard Simmons biopic that has become a hot topic.
“I’m also gonna be starring in the Richard Simmons biopic…whether he likes it or not, Richard,” Shore said at his Netflix Is a Joke show at the Comedy Store Friday night in Los Angeles. “Just another fucking bump in my fucking road.”
Shore’s hour-and-a-half comedy set recounted his life story with a particular focus on growing up in Los Angeles with parents Sammy Shore and Mitzi Shore who co-founded the Comedy Store.
While the bulk of the set detailed his childhood through to the time he spent on MTV and even at the Playboy Mansion, at the very end he jumped to the present to talk about his current life stage and achievements and to briefly address the ongoing biopic situation.
The comment comes after a string of social media back-and-forths...

Pauly Shore said he “was up all night crying” due to Richard Simmons continuing to publicly distance himself from a biopic that would star Shore as the fitness guru.
“I just read that a man that I don’t know is writing my bio pic starring Pauly Shore,” Simmons wrote on his verified Facebook page earlier this week. “I do not approve this movie. I am in talks with major studios to create my own bio pic with some help. Wait for this movie.”
Simmons previously said that he was not involved with the biopic and didn’t give Shore “permission” for it, right after it was announced that a feature film about the fitness icon, backed by the Wolper Organization, was in development.
“You guys, I was up all night crying regarding Richard Simmons’ tweet,” Shore wrote on his Instagram Thursday. “Richard, how do you not approve of this movie?...

Like a sweaty workout routine, Pauly Shore‘s Richard Simmons biopic continues to gain momentum. The Wolper Organization says it’s hiring Jordan Allen-Dutton (Robot Chicken) to pen the screenplay. The biopic comes after the success of The Court Jester, a short film starring Shore as the fitness guru and sunny cheerleader for people struggling with weight control and self-esteem issues. The Court Jester sold out multiple screenings in Park City, Utah, earlier this year and gained over one million views on YouTube in 24 hours. While the project has some unfortunate vibes, the team continues to press on with development.
While details about the Richard Simmons biopic remain as scarce as a neon pink leotard up someone’s rear end at the climax of an aerobics routine, producer Mark Wolper says the project will be “a dramatic and heartfelt feature in the tone of Little Miss Sunshine.”

Professional fitness coach Richard Simmons has apologized for a Facebook post that led some fans to believe he was dying.
Last month, the 75-year-old fitness guru shared a concerning post in the morning on Facebook. He said, “I am …. dying.”
He went on to write about death and living life to the fullest. In his post, he wrote, “Why am I telling you this? Because I want you to enjoy your life to the fullest every single day. Get up in the morning and look at the sky… count your blessings and enjoy.”
He continued to emphasize healthy habits. For instance, he talked about eating three meals a day.
“One healthy day of eating will lead to the next… and the next,” and then suggested dessert every “once in a while.”
He also advised his audience to stay active.
“Every day that you are alive you have got to move.

Howard Stern said on Monday that he’d love to have exercise guru Richard Simmons on his show to “get to the bottom” of why he dropped out of sight. But so far, Simmons has turned down his invites.
The “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” star, who hasn’t made a public appearance since 2013, alarmed fans last week when a tweet of his implied he was dying. The 75-year-old later clarified that his tweet was not to be taken literally and that he was in good health (since everyone is technically always one day closer to their inevitable death).
After Stern discussed the incident, his producer Gary Dell’Abate said he’d been corresponding with Simmons, who is a friend.
“I wrote to Richard, not for airtime for the radio, and I’m not gonna talk about what we discussed, but I did confirm that I was corresponding with him. Because, you know,...

Simmons, who had previously alarmed fans with a post that said he was dying, revealed that he noticed a persistent blemish beneath his eye and decided to consult a dermatologist.
After a microscopic examination of the affected cells, the doctor informed Simmons that he had basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer associated with sun exposure.
Simmons, initially taken aback by the diagnosis, shared his lighthearted response to the doctor’s use of the “C word” to turn the point into a brief moment of laughter amidst the seriousness.

Howard Stern has been one of the most controversial – and revered – figures in the history of modern media. With a passion for the field as a child, Stern’s climb to the top of the radio world truly began in the ‘80s. And he did it off of his unique, button-pressing, FCC-clashing brand and humor: the boobs, the prank calls, the Wack Pack, all of it all made Howard Stern one of the most recognizable figures in all of media. And so as his markets grew and his written word topped the charts – but long before his first $500 million contract with Sirius – it was time for Stern to enter the movie business…with something a little more commercially viable than Butt Bongo Fiesta.

A father and daughter submitted a lawsuit this week claiming that Pauly Shore encouraged security members at Los Angeles’ The Comedy Store to attack the father in 2022.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles County’s West District on Thursday, alleges that security members at The Comedy Store “violently grabbed and attacked” plaintiff Sean Kehoe on Nov. 30, 2022, while his daughter, Kirra Lyn Potts, was present. The allegations also state that Kehoe sustained “severe injuries” which resulted in Potts facing “mental and emotional distress” and “extreme mental anguish.”
Kehoe and Potts both allege that Shore “agreed with and encouraged” the attack, and the suit claims that he and The Comedy Store are both responsible for the security officials’ actions as a result of negligence in his “selection of hiring.”
Kehoe and Potts are now seeking monetary compensation for previous and future medical bills, along with a to-be-determined sum for loss of earnings.

A father and daughter have accused movie star and comedian Pauly Shore of assault and battery for allegedly encouraging security members to attack the father, who was visiting the Los Angeles comedy club The Comedy Store in 2022.
The plaintiffs named in the lawsuit are Sean Kehoe and his daughter Kirra Lyn Potts, who say security personnel “violently grabbed and attacked” Kehoe during an incident that took place on Nov. 30, 2022. The legal document also states Kehoe sustained “severe injuries” after the members dragged him. The alleged attacked resulted in Potts undergoing “mental and emotional distress” and “extreme mental anguish” because she witnessed her father being assaulted.
The two also claim in the lawsuit, a copy of which TheWrap obtained, that the comedian was fully aware, prior to the act, and “agreed with and encouraged” the security team to follow through with the attack. They claim that he is responsible for staff...

After footage of Pauly Shore playing fitness guru Richard Simmons in his new short film, The Court Jester, Simmons blasted the project in a Facebook post.
In addition to the short film, there have also been rumors flying about a possible full-length feature about the fitness icon.
“You may have heard they may be doing a movie about me with Pauly Shore,” Simmons said. “I have never given my permission for this movie. So don’t believe everything you read.”
Later in the post, he explained that he no longer has a publicist or a manager and intends to lead a quiet life away from the public eye.
The movie idea has been in development with the Wolper Organization, a subsidiary of Warner Brothers, which has released a statement about the film.

Pauly Shore is responding to Richard Simmons after the fitness icon disavowed the upcoming biopic in which Shore is set to play him. Shore stopped by the Variety Studio presented by Audible while at the Sundance Film Festival and said his Simmons movie is “all about love,” with or without the real Simmons’ blessing.
“My come from has always been love,” Shore said. “It’s never been vindictive. I’m not Borat. I’m not ‘let’s make fun of someone.’ It’s the opposite. At this point, it’s an unauthorized biopic and they’re made every day. Yes, I want him to put his pixie dust on this and say, ‘Go for it, Pauly.’ It’s Richard being Richard. It’s sensitive. Pauly Shore’s performance as Richard Simmons is seeing the light of day, less than a week after plans for a feature film biopic were announced. A 10-minute short film starring Shore, titled “The Court Jester,” premiered at the Cabin in Park City on Friday. The event wasn’t an official Sundance Film Festival screening, but was certainly positioned to draw in festivalgoers.
“The Court Jester” is now available to watch online through the Lewis Brothers’ YouTube channel. A second screening at the Cabin is set for Jan. 22. The director, Jake Lewis, went viral with his Robin Williams impersonation. It stars Jesse Heiman, best known as a conspicuous extra who has appeared in films like “Spider-Man,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “The Social Network.” Heiman plays a segment producer who partners with Simmons amid backstage drama at a talk show.
“I’m really excited about sharing Richard Simmons’s life with the world.

Hours after it was announced that Pauly Shore would play him in an upcoming biopic, fitness guru Richard Simmons revealed that he did not give his blessing for the film to be made.

Richard Simmons is distancing himself from a biopic that would star Pauly Shore as the fitness guru.
“Hi Everybody! You may have heard they may be doing a movie about me with Pauly Shore. I have never given my permission for this movie. Shore announced the project Wednesday morning, though he did not claim that Simmons was involved. The Wolper Organization is backing the film. Shore has already shot the short film “Court Jester,” which will debut in Park City, Utah, during Sundance, though it is not a part of the fest.
The filmmakers responded to Simmons’ concerns in a statement of their own Wednesday.

Pauly Shore has launched a grassroots campaign to become the leading man of a not-yet-in-development Richard Simmons film, asking fans to reach out to the major Hollywood studios to help “make it happen.”
Shore, the “Encino Man” and “Bio-Dome” star whose last acting credit came with the 2021 comedy “How It Ends,” said his efforts were sparked by a groundswell of fan interest. He even predicted it would all result in an Oscar.

Sinqua Walls and Jack Harlow are Los Angeles streetball hustlers in the official trailer for Hulu’s remake of White Men Can’t Jump.
Walls (Friday Night Lights) and rapper Harlow — making his film debut — take over the roles played by Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson, respectively, in the 1992 hit comedy by writer-director Ron Shelton.
The trailer is full of the on-court trash-talk that the original machine-gunned so deftly, with Harlow being referred to as “a yoga teacher” who is allowed to enter the gym and told he’s dressed like “a white girl at Whole Foods” and “wearing a fake-ass Richard Simmons outfit,” among other slams.
In the new film, Sinqua Walls “stars as Kamal, once a promising player who derailed his future in the sport, and multi-platinum rap superstar Jack Harlow makes his movie debut as Jeremy, a former star of the game whose injuries stalled his own career.

Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls face off, talk trash, and bury their beef in the trailer for Hulu’s remake of White Men Can’t Jump. The movie premieres on the streaming service on May 19.
Most of the best dunking in the clip, however, is on how Harlow, whose character is named Benji Allen, looks. People say he looks like a yoga instructor, a white girl at Whole Foods, and a “fake-ass Richard Simmons.” With more footage in the clip left, some characters even tell him, least creatively, that he’s “dressed like a dumbass.
