The micro-budget military zombie flick Platoon Of The Dead will arrive on DVD June 16th, and the filmmakers have just dropped Fango a note that the World Premiere has been set for May 29, at the Northern Lights Theatre Pub in Salem, Oregon. Full details and directions can be found on the official production blog, which has continuous updates from pre-production in 2007, all the way up until present day.
"Director of photography and co-producer Joe Sherlock Aka Dr. Squid presents a huge production diary that covers everything from the first day he was approached for the project by lifelong buddy John (The Evilmaker) Bowker, through a wild pre-production and typical low-budget production time. Gobs of behind the scenes photos are featured throughout.
Sure, money and time are tight, major casting remains a few days before shooting starts and scheduling is a bit of a nightmare, but that is just the tip...

Two independent genre stalwarts sent along full details of their latest horror DVDs. Happy Cloud Pictures has the official disc of its latest production, Splatter Movie: The Director’S Cut, shipping in April, while Tempe Video releases Platoon Of The Dead June 16.
Splatter Movie, directed by and starring Amy Lynn Best and written by Mike Watt, also features Evil Dead FX artist Tom Sullivan, Fango Radio’s Debbie Rochon, Sofiya Smirnova and Elske McCain in a “documentary” on the making of the slasher opus Tesseract—whose makers are stalked and slain by a murderer dressed as their film’s villain. Special features include:
