Barbara Ann Scott

Became the first non-European woman to win an Olympic figure skating gold medal at the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
She was awarded the O.C. (Officer of the Order of Canada) on April 19, 1991 for her services to figure skating.
Inducted to Canada's Walk of Fame in 1998 (charter member).
She was so popular that a Barbara Ann Scott doll was made after the St. Moritz Olympics. She also made the cover of Time magazine.
She became the first woman to land a double Lutz in competition when she was only 13.
She won the Olympic gold medal skating on an outdoor ice surface riddled with holes and ruts from two hockey games played earlier that day.
She won the European, World, and Olympic skating titles within a six-week period at the age of 19.
Inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1955.
Inducted into the Skate Canada Hall of Fame in 1991.
Inducted into the International Women's Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
Inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1979.
